A&M choking it away

TO City.

banyon 03-22-2008 09:37 PM

Can they bring Acie Law IV out of the stands for the last minute?

Ultra Peanut 03-22-2008 09:37 PM

Facing down certain dismemberment or even death, Jones went inside and scored.

JONES = COURAGE
JONES = HEART
JONES = TENACITY
JONES = HERO

alnorth 03-22-2008 09:37 PM

Well folks, now we see why the Big 12 RPI was so high this year.

Where is Acie Law when A&M needs him?

Ultra Peanut 03-22-2008 09:39 PM

****ING COCK SHITTLE

This makes me so mad. It's like they're not even trying to hide how obviously tilted things are in UCLA's favor, and then they still manage to only just barely squeeze out a win.

007 03-22-2008 09:39 PM

OT?

teedubya 03-22-2008 09:40 PM

Where is Tyus Edney?

ArrowheadHawk 03-22-2008 09:40 PM

Perfect time to hit a 3.

the Talking Can 03-22-2008 09:40 PM

christ, they run the same damn play....

you hold them to 45 points all game and then they score at will the last minute....

lightsout04 03-22-2008 09:41 PM

A&M is going to lose becasue they couldnt make FT

ArrowheadHawk 03-22-2008 09:41 PM

Please let A&M hit the game winning 3.

Cheap shot slam at the end too

Silock 03-22-2008 09:42 PM

UCLA is so ****ing overrated. They're in a weak bracket, though, so they might advance out of the sweet sixteen.

Ultra Peanut 03-22-2008 09:42 PM

HE HIT HIM ON THE ****ING ARM, OF COURSE THEY WON IT ON THE DEFENSIVE END YOU SACK OF DOG SHIT

Buehler445 03-22-2008 09:42 PM

Depends on who's reffing the game, apparently.

alnorth 03-22-2008 09:44 PM

Yeah! Your AWESOME, Bruins! Slam it home, and take THAT you dirty... ummm... Texas A&M Aggies. Yeah...

Well, the west is so busted up now that UCLA may still sleepwalk to a final four, but we arent looking at the national champions here.

Cream? You mean cash? Because it's not hard to rise to the top when you're given carte blanche to beat the everloving shit out of anyone who has the misfortune of being in the paint.

And it's not like this is an anomaly. The Stanford and Cal games were prime examples of horrible officiating giving UCLA just enough room to squeak out a win against a supposedly inferior opponent.

I want Joey Dorsey to teabag Love so much right now.

Of course, if Dorsey played like Love plays, he'd never make it past the 15 minute mark of the first half.

When the refs miss blatantly obvious foul calls to let UCLA win.

They are going to show that ****ing dunk ALL tournament now. (Even though it shouldn't have counted). And magically, UCLA is the best team EVA!

I would love to play them. That would mean that KU was in the title game. KU would own UCLA on a Neutral Court.

ROYC75 03-22-2008 09:52 PM

I've been saying all year, UCLA is not that good. In Anahiem, they barely beat aTm in an NCAA game. They have won 2 close games at home that they were beat in.......

Can you call them lucky ?

going by the Stanford game example of a blocking foul, Love should have had 13 fouls tonight....

To anyone who always whines when a ref calls a critical foul that decides the game in the last seconds, under the idea that in the last shot you should just let the kids play, I invite them to review that game. The refs did not have the balls to make that call, and so by swallowing the whistle they handed UCLA the win.

If we really did ask the refs not to make those calls with the game on the line, then the strategy for the team in front would be to just brutally mug the shooter for the win.

A&M handed the game to UCLA...............................

They continued to drive into traffic and could not finnish. I really never saw a foul on all of the UCLA blocks in the paint down the stretch. The final possesion was the clincher. If at first you fail, try, try again. What I would have given for a squared-up jump shot to tie or win the game. It had been obvious for most of the second half that A&M could not compete inside. :cuss:

A tie at the free throw line is more secure than trying to win via jumper. Unfortunately, UCLA has multiple referee lifelines as HolmeZz pointed out.

Al Bundy 03-22-2008 10:18 PM

and for the record, I don't care much for UCLA.

A foul is a foul....regardless if it's the first 5 seconds or last 5 seconds of the game.

I'm not a fan of either team...but A&M got jobbed tonight. 4-5 straight possessions - UCLA had free reign to defend however they wanted without worry of fouling.

That said - if A&M had an outside shooter - we'd be talking about the upset.

Also, in case anyone DVR'd this game, go back to the 2 minute mark when UCLA got called for a foul on a loose ball and then it went to a TV timeout. There were 9 fouls on UCLA, and when they came back from the TO, ATM was throwing the ball in. Someone care to explain to me why they weren't shooting one and one?

Simple. The refs wanted UCLA to win.

They switched it to an offensive foul on UCLA.

alnorth 03-22-2008 11:48 PM

I think I figured out UCLA's defensive plan.

Shipp was going to rip Sloan's arm right out of the socket and beat him senseless with the bloody limb until the horn sounded. His grip must have slipped.

Chiefs Pantalones 03-22-2008 11:49 PM

After three days of tourney action, I don't see a team yet that worries me as a KU fan. Even UNC. This is our best chance since 04 to win a title, and as long as we don't fall on our faces, I see KU putting up a title banner for the first time since 88. Memphis is not that good, I'm sorry. We've beaten Texas, and UCLA is the worst #1 seed in quite sometime that I can remember. I picked KU vs. UCLA in the final for payback from last year, but I don't think they'll make it that far.

If we do win the Championship, naysayers will just say the quality of opponents were crap, yada yada. Oh well. I can live with that. :)

Dont' count the chickens yet but I believe your right. The hawks should take the tourney this year.

Silock 03-23-2008 12:08 AM

KU didn't look that great today, though. They allowed WAY too much dribble drive. A team with good guards is going to KILL us with that.

Oh I agree. I just feel great about this team. Of course, after watching the action I've asked myself if we are that good, or are the rest of the teams that mediocre? I'm confident we will take it this year, but I'm not over-confident. If we do, it'll be the first time in quite sometime that a team of mine has won something lol
