YYYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

siberian khatru 04-07-2008 09:50 PM

Great post from MU's Tigerboard:

Remember that scene at the end of Red Dawn?

Where Robert stands against a rock...cocks his rifle and stands in front of the helicopter shooting rockets at him? Somehow, I just got that vision of this board.

ArrowheadHawk 04-07-2008 09:51 PM

Rock Chalk Championship!

Yeah Baby!

alnorth 04-07-2008 09:51 PM

Mario Chalmers is now a Kansas Jayhawk God, immortalised forever.

Great game on both sides. What a comeback. WOW

KC2004 04-07-2008 09:51 PM

Great comeback by the KU kids. Be proud.

ChiTown 04-07-2008 09:51 PM

Congrat's Jayhawk fans. That was an absolutely amazing comeback.

Rock chalk, all you doubting bitches!!!!

:D :D

Ultra Peanut 04-07-2008 09:51 PM

We played a godawful game for ~30 minutes, but it still took a miracle three to take it to OT and wrest the championship away from our exhausted players.

Well ****ing done. I hate you right now, but well ****ing done. What a game.

What a game, the best you could ask for for a KU fan i would guess.

Cut down the Nets!

KCFalcon59 04-07-2008 09:52 PM

Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Go KU. National Champions!! Props to Memphis. A hell of a team.

CrazyPhuD 04-07-2008 09:52 PM

WOW....swore they were going to be ****ed in regulation. Bet every college coach is going to spend extra time on FT now! WOOHOO! :D

siberian khatru 04-07-2008 09:52 PM

Memphis choked it, but KU earned it.

Calcountry 04-07-2008 09:52 PM

Got to love it. I bought a Jayhawk t shirt when I was back there in October. Get to sport it out here tomorrow. lol.

Nice season. I believe I picked them to win out in the Nzoner brackets at Yahoo as well. Nice. Almost as nice as the Arizona wildcat win when Bibby was handling the rock back in the day.

Mr. Christopher 04-07-2008 09:53 PM

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Lzen 04-07-2008 09:53 PM

Ultra Peanut. That was a Helluva game. Your team has nothing to hang their heads on. They just need to learn to shoot some FTs a little better. Still, a fantastic season and you guys had us for awhile there.

ROYC75 04-07-2008 09:53 PM

You should've fouled KU before they launched a 3.

CrazyPhuD 04-07-2008 09:53 PM

Can we change the name to the lounge of champions now?? :)

Demonpenz 04-07-2008 09:54 PM

As a Cards fan, I'll tell you that a championship win when you are not the 'best' team is still no less delicious than if you are.

Yeah, before the end of regulation, I was a bit shocked that they weren't attempting to foul. I would have my team foul them immediately.

And, to be honest, the officating was actually much better in the 2nd half, at least in my opinion. They actually let them play for a change.

I was about 3yrs old when KU won it in '88. I grew up a Jayhawk fan and suffered through Duke, Arizona, Maryland, Syracuse and all the other disappointments.

Then, I get a Gators 'ship in 2006 and a Miami Heat 'ship followed in 2006, then a Gators football 'ship in 2007 and another Gators 'ship in 2007. Now I get a KU 'ship in 2008.

:D

DJJasonp 04-07-2008 10:01 PM

To all my KU brothers and sisters......WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWKS GO KU!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best (and drunkest) times of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ultra Peanut 04-07-2008 10:01 PM

You know, the loss doesn't hurt so much as the fact that Rose, Dorsey, and probably CDR are gone. We'll have a Top 10-caliber team next year, probably Top 5 if we manage to land Ebanks, but god damn, I'm going to miss these guys and the fun they've had together.

CDR is the personification of class and heart, and for people to call him a choker as he's up there with the pressure of the world on his dead legs honestly hurts. A hearty **** you to those assholes.

It just occurred to me that Bill Self may be the first person anywhere close to KC who's successfully executed a 5 year plan.

And to top it all off, this one is absolutely, unquestionably his championship.

Your boys can play. I had no doubts. There were several cocky KU fans at my work, was mouthing off that they were gonna run off the mid-major Memphis team, and I just had to tear them a new one, becuase I know they're very good. I knew it was going to be close. I thought it would either be by 3 in the end of the regulation, or it would be settled in OT.

They're tired, but they're scrappy and they're gritty. I admire that in a team.

Hats off to your team.

Eh, you could be right. I'm not too concerned about his defense, if I was a KU fan. But his balling skills, ugh. That's an area of a need in improvement if I was him.

But I thought Rush keeping CDR in check was the key.

Only as much as any other Chiefs fan celebrating a Faiduhs loss. I wasn't living in Tampa then, and I've never been a Bucs fan. I follow them some now, and don't mind seeing them win since they're in the NFC, but I wouldn't call myself a 'fan'.

If anything, my first taste of championship was in 1997 when I was at games 6 and 7 of the Marlins WS over Cleveland and then they won again over the Yanks in 2003.

Post-game guys on CBS are giving KU all kinds of credit for the win, so those worried about that might be able to relax.
