Rivers seems to do more with less most years.

If we had Rivers right now, this is a championship team.
I'm hoping Alex can play the best ball of his life, but Rivers is a damn beast. Extremely underrated player. |

It's been a long time coming. Adiós.

That's basically Sandy Cheek's cop out. "Name me one QB that plays well with subpar receivers and line! Just one! Betcha can't do it!" "Rivers, Brady, Luck, Tannehill, Palmer, Wilson." "Well, those guys are like good and stuff!" |

His defense held the record setting Patriots to 14 points in 2008 and 17 points in 2012. Eli's a very good QB but like most NFL QB's, he can't win it alone. |
Despite all of the received handjobs and bluster, you have yet to give that list...

1. Brady 2. ??? your move, chump. |

WTF does it even matter if elite QBs can or can't overcome a terrible OL/WRs/etc? Has the argument ever been that Alex Smith should have gone to or won a SB in the past two seasons? Of course not.

Brady Roethisberger Dilfer Other SB winning QBs had either shitty WR corps or OLs, but not both. Eli Rodgers Wilson That's 6 of the 10 SB winning QBs since the turn of the century, with Peyton, Brees, Flacco, and Johnson not getting the nod, and Colts fans might argue about that 2006 team. |
Austin should have just shut down this thread with his last post.
Alex Smith can win a Super Bowl if he has top 5 caliber units at OL, WR, defense and in special teams (ONE MUFFED PUNT FROM A SUPER BOWL AFTER ALL). The Chiefs have a defense that is capable of being top 5 and that's not even a certainty. That's it. I guaran-****ing-tee it won't be November till a certain cadre of posters here lambaste the offensive line as one of the worst groups in NFL history. If that fact doesn't become the narrative, then it will be the apparently shocking revelation that Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce aren't dominant enough players to carry a receiving corps consisting of a 3rd round rookie, a Sun Belt UDFA and Jason Avant into being successful enough to win games consistently. Or, you know, the defense will actually regress to the mean and not hold teams to an absurd average of 18 points or fewer per game and the narrative will quickly shift to "But you can't expect anyone to win when the defense gives up two TDs and a FG of points per game!" drivel. Either way, the Chiefs will top out with a 10-6 regular season record at best with yet another first round playoff exit... and this will be surprising to an alarming number of posters here. |

I was never asking for what couldn't be possible here. What would really help though... the THREE examples you give... what yr are you speaking of.. and any details you might care to add.. thanks. |

Dilfer only got there once, with the defensive juggernaut Ravens (2000). Roethlisberger's 2005 squad had Ward lead the WRs with 69 catches and Randle El second with 35. Brady's 001 Patriots had Troy Brown with over 100 catches and David Patten with 51. Why were their numbers that high? The next highest WR/TE was a 3 way tie at 14 catches, and one of them was Terry Glenn, who was suspended by the team for the season, won an appeal, but only played 4 games before going back on the shelf due to injury. Brady was effectively using Troy Brown and David Patten as his entire WR/TE corps. As a side note, the Patriots were also a lousy 24th in the NFL in rushing yards per attempt that season, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry. I might argue that Brady's WR in 2014 were also that kind of shitty, but LaFell played much better than he had in Carolina, and I can't be sure that was all the result of Brady, so I think the argument can at least be countered to some degree. |
Gee I wonder if Alex is closer to Dilfer, Roethlisberger or Brady.
GOLLY ****IN' GEE MAN WHICH ONE COULD HE BE? |

Lil' Chiefy's Smith-fantasy of "Dilfering" to greatness is the most absurd ****ing thing I've seen in regards to football topics on ALL of Chiefsplanet,
It's dumb. It's pure fantasy with no basis in reality whatsoever. It is dumb. dumb. dumb. |
God, SO dumb.
Please stop. |

So I will just say, my point was : very few QBs that I can think of over history have excelled while playing behind bottom level OLs while throwing to bottom level WRs. in case I was mistaken on this, I asked people here. Smith is not a remarkable QB, except to say that he is mentally tough. He won't go down in history as an all that memorable player.. but knowing (?) that there are very few QBs that can excel while playing behind bottom level OLs while throwing to bottom level WRs... why were people that don't think much of him in the first place.. expecting him to have excelled with such deficiencies at OL and WR? I'm done with it. Not in a pussified "I'm leaving forever" cry as OTWP and Pawnmower has done, lol... I know, shucks. |

There is no "battle" over "ASSSSS11"(bundle of sticksotty nickname if ever there was);
Established, mediocre bag of suck is scurrrred suck. There is your reality. Embrace it. |

Why does just Alex get his initials plus his number? I've never seen us go "JC25" or "JH50" or "TC10." We were minding our own business, and then the Alex trade happened, and then it was the Niner ****tards that waltzed in here and started dickpounding Alex's case. All of a sudden it was "AS11" this and "AS11" that. Is that a reference to something? Is it a shitty attempt at AK47 even though only one of the characters is the same? |

This thread was destined to involve the QB as soon as the OP mentioned him from the beginning in his swan song. In most threads, it is rarely the "49er/Alex-lovin'-trolls" that turn the threads from unrelated topic into Alex topic. That honor typically goes to the antagonistic haters. I realize you didn't specifically say who "turns every thread", but you did call me a troll.. and if being honest after reading my posts over the years, I think you know I am not a troll. An asshole, a dumbass, a creepy QB stalker... sure.. I can see that.. but not a troll. |

So think long and hard about what you post and when you post it, buddy.
And don't try and abuse your limit by posting 500 word posts, either. I am just and I am merciful. But I will cut you. |
