American swimmers just trolling the world at this point.

Mizzou_8541 08-12-2016 07:17 PM

Lol, three swimmers, including Phelps and Le Clos, tied for second in the 100 butterfly.

alnorth 08-12-2016 07:24 PM

Gee, I wonder if Ledecky can hang on and win this race

SAUTO 08-12-2016 07:26 PM

She's gonna have a lap on them

SPchief 08-12-2016 07:26 PM

She may win by 50 meters

The yellow world record line is losing by two seconds.

mlyonsd 08-12-2016 07:27 PM

There's so many laps how do they keep track in their own heads? This is a massacre.

Pablo 08-12-2016 07:31 PM

She's amazing. Just glad I get to watch her.

alnorth 08-12-2016 07:38 PM

I looked up the history of the women's 800m Freestyle record. Since 2008, these were the record-breakers in that event.

8/16/08 - Adlington 8:14.10
8/3/13 - Ledecky 8:13.86
6/22/14 - Ledecky 8:11.00
8/8/15 - Ledecky 8:07.39
1/17/16 - Ledecky 8:06.68
8/12/16 - Ledecky 8:04.79

They need to put in the 1500 for the women. That's BS that it isn't in there. Instead the put in events like trampoline. It's not like they don't compete in it outside the Olympics.

ChiTown 08-12-2016 07:56 PM

I am in love with Maya DiRado.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-12-2016 09:09 PM

I think the line of the night was from Rowdy Gaines, when he and Hicks were talking about Anthony Ervin's travels after his first gold.

Hicks: He became sort of a vagabond for a while.
Gaines: I know; he was on my couch.

Aries Walker 08-12-2016 09:10 PM

Katie Ledecky had her cap and goggles off, and was leaning on the divider rope, by the time the second place swimmer came in.

Wow.

She did an interview and was on the medal stand and there were still swimmers in the pool. Ledecky is the female Chuck Norris.

I watched one of her races a few days ago, I think the first one she smoked people in....immediately afterwards she was giving an interview to the NBC idiot and she wasn't even remotely out of breath. she was breathing as I would when i make a cup of coffee. that's incredible.

The Ethiopian woman who won the 10,000 meters took victory laps and looked like she could go another 10,000 meters. She annihilated everyone.

OldSchool 08-12-2016 09:17 PM

Ledecky is the female swimming version of Usain Bolt. She's just that far ahead of the field.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-12-2016 09:19 PM

Am I the only one who loses interest in the Olympics during the second week? I've always cared about swimming and gymnastics, and after that I'm kind of meh on week two. The track events just don't do it for me.

I might be inclined to watch some of the field events, but I can't tell you the last time I actually saw one televised.

Reminds me of high school track in Atchison. I was breaking records up there. Then I went to state and went up against the brothers. Same result as the pic. Except there were other brothers in the frame.

It was humiliating.

If they added that she might have to drop the 200 Free. She can probably maintain her dominance in the 400-1500 through 2020. Swimmers usually peak in their early 20s and distance swimmers peak a little sooner than that. After that, they tend to shorten their distances as their endurance drops but their strength increases (which is why someone like Ervin can still win gold in the 50).

Some chick just ran a 70 second 400m in one of the prelims. I bet you could find a high school girl in every high school in America that could run sub 70. Isn't there some sort of benchmark that must be met to qualify even if you are one of the fastest in your country?

No, you send your best. That being said, I'm fine with people getting out there and just doing their best, you won't always win but you always do your best - it's the scouting way. And when Kariman Abuljadayel ran her race, that was awesome. Knowing that while the other runners left her in the dust, she did something more important. She thumbed her nose at the Muslim male leadership and all but told them to **** off. That's brave in many ways. And I pray to God this wardrobe malfunction doesn't cost her her life, or a mutilation, in some form of Muslim honor bullshit.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...1023309348.jpg

So yeah, there's more than one way to win in life and the Olympics. I really wish the women who lead the race would have embraced her for the walls she's helping to break down at what could be a risk to her life. Perhaps those race-leaders forgot how repressed they once were. She's not the only Muslim woman representing, and I hope it continues.

Not that I have an opinion.

Argentina wins in 2OT. Brazil had a chance to get the ball back down 2 after a missed free throw but one of their players forgot to get the rebound and just took off running away from the ball.

He means track. Carl Lewis and Al Oerter have done it in the long jump and discus respectively four times in a row.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-13-2016 07:43 PM

Flo-Jo's WRs in both the 100 and 200 might be the most fraudulent records in Olympic sports.

Brazil v. Colombia is full of the worst dives and is getting chippy. Almost a brawl.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-13-2016 07:50 PM

Few quick thoughts:

1) Can Hungary just let Hosszu swim all four legs of the relay?
2) Nathan Adrian looks more like a prototypical QB than any human being I've ever seen.
