Want to guess whose fault is that there isn’t a better option at QB than Cook or anyone else who is competent?

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-19-2024 12:16 PM

Please go to Florida, Eli.

Silly....Silly play by Burden there.

OR going in the portal and getting a better option than either Cook or Pyne.

Drinkwitz was and is so infatuated with Cook that the only player they brought in at the position was a jag that was no threat to Cook.

Ok, Pyne is really ****ing bad. Throw in someone else.

You gonna bitch about them calling a DPI on Auburn late or is it always this league is rigged when something goes against Mizzou?

On to Bama…who knows what team will show up lol.

Thank goodness Cook s able to return. Great comeback for him today. Kudos to the defense as well.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-19-2024 01:40 PM

Oh my God, what a ****ing miracle. Cook was all over the place on that last drive, but he did just enough.

It was a good clean hit too, got him in the middle Rock.

Mizzou reeruns wanted to see the team without Cook. Well, you got your wish.

This team may be frustrating, but they're clearly tough, and that starts at the top with Drink and Cook.

At least hold off on shitting on him until he has another outright bad game. Once he came back at the end of the 3rd quarter he did a pretty damn good job, all things considered. Kind of surprised he didn't get knocked back out of the game with how badly the OL got beaten at times.

He’s an above average starting college QB who more times than not plays well enough to give his team an opportunity to win.

He isn’t a NFL QB and relies on his supporting cast to help him (which most QBs other than dudes who win the Heisman or go to the league often do) while playing behind an ass OL.

I fault Drink for the fact that he and Moore can't figure out how to better utilize Burden....I also fault Drink for not having a competent back up QB....any team that has playoff aspirations needs to have a decent backup. Any team that doesn't has forgotten the lesson Florida State taught everyone last year.

I will give Cook props for leading them to the 2 TD'S....but let's not forget 2 things....this was at home against a less than average Auburn team we should have beaten handily. Also remember....Cook had at least 3 drives that were not at all effective.

Let's hope this team is more on point when they go to Tuscaloosa.

You're right. How dare Drink let Sam Horn get injured playing baseball!! Seriously, if not for that, we would have seen Horn out there today. But let's not mention that if it doesn't fit the narrative. SMH

I knew I could count on you to come in and defend Drink....Horn's decision to have Tommy John surgery came in February and I am betting they knew even before that....plenty of time to scout the transfer portal for a capable backup besides Pyne.

But let's gloss over the fact that Drink can't seem to better utilize Burden either....

TrebMaxx 10-19-2024 02:26 PM

The team looked like ass again. But...they showed grit in the end. I don't think they have found themselves yet. The defense could be really good but they need to bring it for the whole game. The offense needs to get the o-line in sync. Cook is not a NFL caliber QB but is good enough to be decent for college ball. He can get you some yards, just not on a consistent basis.

Drink had plenty of time to get another QB after Horn was injured.

mnchiefsguy 10-19-2024 03:23 PM

So Cook actually went to the hospital, got an MRI, came back and warmed up and went back into the game.

That is ****ing crazy shit. If Mizzou goes on and makes the playoff, this will be the stuff of legends for Mizzou football.

I’m not going to spend an hour + listing all the QBs that were in the portal from February on, but I’ll say Mike Wright didn’t transfer to Northwestern until May and he has started at 2 SEC schools and is a mobile QB and offers something Pyne doesn’t.

Are you that dense?

Is Wright actually better? NW's starter today was 9/24 for 82 yards FOR THE GAME. Wright isn't better than THAT?

My argument is he’s better than Pyne.

To upgrade over Cook they’d have to have gone portaling sooner after guys like Ward.

As bad as Pyne was today, he was almost identical to NW's starter, who replaced Wright due to his ineffectiveness.

I had to take the wife to the Asian market in Lenexa Ks. I was surprised to see that Cook returned to lead the comeback win. I couldn't find a radio broadcast. Just finished the rest of game from the pause.

Sassy Squatch 10-19-2024 05:41 PM

Alabama and Oklahoma both look very beatable.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-19-2024 06:39 PM

Nice comeback win

dlphg9 10-19-2024 11:56 PM

Just find it hard to get too excited about barely winning a homecoming game even with a back up QB. That's ****ing atrocious. Cook came back and had some nice throws, but he still looked like he has in our previous games this season. I think we can get to the playoffs because of a weak schedule, a really stellar defense, and good playmakers, but Cook isn't gonna ever be the reason we beat a good team.

I'm ready for the end of the Brady Cook era, because he's been one of the worst QBs this team has had since 2002.

02-05 = Brad Smith
06-08 = Chase Daniel
09-10 = Blaine Gabbert
11-13 = James Franklin
14-1st half of 15 = Matty Mauk
2nd half of 15 - 18 = Drew Lock
19 - Kelly Bryant
20-21 - Connor Bazelak

I think for sure Smith, Daniel, Gabbert, Franklin, Lock, and Bazelak would all be ahead of Cook. If Bazelak had the supporting cast and weapons that Cook has, then he would have been a ton better. **** Mauk may have been better than Cook if he had the weapons, but I have a hard time putting Mauk ahead of him.

The only starter that I can definitively say Cook is better than was that pile of shit Kelly Bryant. He was the worst starting QB I've ever seen for Mizzou.

jjchieffan 10-20-2024 08:21 AM

Well, this is Cooks last year. Right now, our best 2 options for next year are both injured. I would guess that they're going to redshift Zoellers. Hopefully Horn can step in and be ready next year. It sucks about the Tommy John's. It would have been good to see him get some playing time yesterday against Auburn.

Pyne is absolute trash and it’s funny Mizzou fans were “pining” for the guy. Glad we could walk away with a win despite having a gaping hole at QB for about 40 minutes of gametime

He's full of shit. No one was pining for him. Hamas is always a bit reactionary ROFL especially during a beatdown. Let him cook.

Boxer_Chief 10-20-2024 11:55 AM

If cook plays that whole game we win handily. All the handwringing is a bit much. Pyne isn’t even a bad quarterback, he’s something worse than that

WhawhaWhat 10-20-2024 01:57 PM

Missouri beats Auburn and drops 2 spots in the AP Poll to #21. Behind Illinois and ahead of SMU. Alabama coming up next week.

jjchieffan 10-20-2024 02:40 PM

I saw that. Now, 1 loss Mizzou is ranked 21 while 2 loss Alabama, who lost to Vanderbilt, a ten MU beat, is ranked 15 and a 2 TD favorite next week. SMH. AP poll and college football rankings is stupid.

How eager are ya to take those points?

I'm GOING to the game and think they'll struggle to cover.

Mizzou shits the bed on the road. And credit to Cooks toughness but that dude still flat misses on 1/3 of his throws. His decision making has actually gotten pretty good but man his accuracy and ball placement is high school caliber this season.

They could easily be down 3 scores by half.

We pick a conference away game every year. Chose 'bama this year. Eventually we'll hit every road stadium and then we can end our quixotic journey.

He doesn't have enough character spaces to list everything. I lived in the Lexington area for 7 years.....the people there are good for the most part.

It's all the stuck up old money people who make it intolerable to live there.

Never mind Rupp Arena being in "downtown" Lexington....and absolutely being a pain to get into and out of after the game.

Plus....they do not tolerate people who aren't part of the Big Blue Nation....

dlphg9 10-24-2024 05:39 AM

Of course Brady Cook is listed as doubtful. Hopefully this is just gamenship by Eli. I don't want Drew ****ing Pyne anywhere near the inside of the huddle. I'd rather we give Aiden Glover a look. He's a true freshmen, but can't be worse than Pyne. Hopefully Cook is ready to go, because we won't win with Pyne.

Woogieman 10-24-2024 07:19 AM

Brady Cook, Noel, and many others! Hopefully you're right about gamesmanship...I'd rather have that time working on the offense!

Boxer_Chief 10-24-2024 08:31 AM

Anyone have any inside knowledge on cook and if he has a chance to play this week? Would suck not having him our biggest game of the season.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-24-2024 05:08 PM

Sounds like he responded pretty well yesterday. I imagine he'll play, but our playcalling lacks the creativity to take advantage of Alabama's knowledge of his injury. They should run middle screens and draws to take the starch out of the rush, but I have a feeling Kirby will call nothing but zone stretch runs and routes where the primary target is outside the hash.

Rumor is he's hell bent on playing and if he doesn't it'll be because the coaches decided he couldn't protect himself.
