I did not. The most recent coaches with historic defenses are not "great" coaches.

Yes but I think he never exercised that right and trusted Pioli to do it.

I believe all major decisions had to be approved by Clark. Same way that worked when Carl was here. Major decisons = head coaching hires and fires.

That's right. He has a QB. Show me a great HC without a great QB; that guy doesn't really exist.

Brian Billick won a SB with Trent Dilfer and created one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history with a 35 yr old Randall Cunningham at QB. His QBs in Minnesota were Warren Moon, Brad Johnson and Randall Cunningham - with those 3 guys he had offenses that ranked 7th, 4th, 22nd, 11th and 1st in the NFL in scoring.

I'd say that's pretty damn impressive, wouldn't you?

Billick has done it without an elite QB but has stated many times the importance of getting one anyway. How is that not a perfect guy to get?

Wrong. Well, ok Piloi says, "Clark, I want Cassel", Clark says "It's your show"

Randy Moss, also a member of that 1998 vikings offense, went on to be a part of several more of the best offenses in the history of the league.... hmm...

Just another argument for drafting a QB....

Well that better be a given, we need the right one and a COACH who can actually groom the guy.

It makes no sense to hire a coach responsible for one of the most prolific offense in league history, seeing as how the NFL is now a passing league.

I guess maybe you had ought to give me your definition of a great coach. Because what I am getting is that there is no great coach, just great QBs, or defenses, depending on the argument.

Albreer on NFLN on what Hunt said to him

"The reason we haven't fired Pioli yet is that we are still in the midst of evaluating everything and everyone"

Hunt says, according to Breer "KC will be an attractive landing spot since the coach will have a direct channel to the owner and will report directly to me (i.e., Hunt)".

GM and HC will report directly to Owner.

I think Hunt is not ****ing around.

I like.

Well, except for RAC.

Can you give him credit for offenses that were ranked 4th, 7th and 11th in the league in 3 of the 4 seasons prior to that one with Warren Moon under center and LeRoy Hoard/Robert Smith as the primary ballcarriers?

It isn't just the 98 Vikes - Billick's offenses were pretty damn good with regularity.

I dont know many details on the guy other than the basics. Figure somebody on here could at least tell me why its a bad idea.

He's my top pick.

Pioli has been reassigned to janitorial duty....
