Hopefully we all wake up tomorrow to something that tells us that Johnny Cueto is a Royal.

The Great Balbino in Great American Park? Whoa!

Doesnt say anything more or less about the importance of starting pitching just because the Giants won game 7 and the Royals didnt. We got thru the playoffs, to game 7, with very very little prouction from James Shields in the post season.

It's not just being results oriented, it's looking at history. Ventura pitched like a #1 starter in the playoffs last year. And Shields at least grinded out a couple wins. You'd be hard pressed to find a recent champion who had a bunch of average starters. We've been debating this for weeks and still no one can give an example. You don't need an All Star rotation but you need a Bumgarner, or Lester, or Carpenter, or Beckett. Pretty much every winner in the last 15 years had an All Star ace. Except maybe the 2005 White Sox, and they had four starters pitching lights out.

Maybe Duffy is about to be that guy. It's very possible, but we still don't know for sure yet.

I live in Phoenix now and we were at the D-backs game (wife is from AZ, she loves her D-backs) tonight and everyone was watching the end of Hamels' no-no on TV as they're getting food. Everyone stopped what they were doing and cheered when it happened. I had my Royals gear on and afterward people were coming up to me saying go get him, you guys gotta get him, etc. The point is people everywhere that follow MLB even a smidge know what a SP addition of a Hamels or a Cueto caliber would do for this ball club. Gotta go for it. A WS title isn't guaranteed, but at least you went to the gun fight with a loaded gun.

I don't trust Diamondback fan opinions on the Royals.

Lol most weren't D-backs fans actually. Most people in Phoenix aren't sadly for the locals haha. Lots of transplants as you know.

Yep, pretty much what other people are saying, sell the farm spend money for a chance at that ring, hell get both cueto and hamels lol I wouldn't even be mad at Moore.

that shield page don't look official.

I'm still having trouble accepting the notion that we trade away multiple top prospects for 3 months of a starting pitcher. If we trade for Cueto, he's gone after this season, and you're not getting those prospects back.

If we win a World Series, it's a brilliant trade. If we fall short, it's an example of putting all of your chips on the table and leaving with 18 cents.

I wish Dayton had been able to snooker the Reds into taking Kyle Zimmer off our hands. I wouldn't even call him a top prospect any more. If Dayton can pull this off without giving up Mondesi, he is a fricking genius.

Mondesi is not going anywhere unless a lot more is involved in this trade. Like A LOT MORE

Just now reading about all this trade talk. Wow! I hope we can get something done today without gutting the system.
