Is there anything I can do to care about the Ryder Cup? Any footage I can watch? I have no idea why I don't care about it. It seems like something I should like. I like watching the Olympics. I even like watching the Collegiate Golf Championship stuff. I have just never been able to get into the Ryder Cup.

Start with the 99 Ryder Cup. Bonus that it includes god awful outfits that have now come legendary amongst RC fans.

Tiger has a long drive contest with a you tuber

Hoopsdoc 07-18-2024 09:06 AM

Tiger with the backward chip out and a double bogey on 5. Playing the par 5 6th now which is actually playing over par.

Troon showing its teeth.

Mr. Plow 07-18-2024 09:49 AM

Tiger started out pretty solid. -1 through 3. But he dropped 5 over the next 4 holes.

Schauffele putting pretty solid today.

Mr. Plow 07-18-2024 10:04 AM

These announcers are kind of crazy. Been weirdly going at Tiger and how it's probably time for him to retire, he can't do it anymore, the game has moved beyond what he can do and then they throw this in there...

Someone yelled “hawk tua” after Max Homa teed off on 18. LMAO

Also, Rory sucks balls.

Mr. Plow 07-19-2024 01:26 PM

Homa hits a 30 foot putt on 18 to make the cut at +6.

scho63 07-19-2024 03:25 PM

One of the highest cut lines I have seen at +6.

John Daly and Ernie Els withdrew and went to the pib.

Tiger and Rory and Phil and JT and Bryson all sucked balls.

Course played tough as ****.

Yeah it's kind of weird. Rory is from Northern Ireland where I have to assume has tons of links golf but his game is basically suited for anything else.

Shane Lowry struggling at the postage stamp.

I like the guy though because he uses cavity back irons. Yet my friend Quint, a 8.5 handicap thinks he needs blades lol

Insane shot on #17 by Scottie. Thats almost like an eagle if he makes it. And its a par 3

Stewie 07-20-2024 12:59 PM

Did Brown double hit that ball out of the bunker? Kind of looked like it on replay.

Absolute insanity on the last round of the PGA event today. They were fighting darkness to try and get the final round in. The final group had Max Greyserman who completely blew a big lead on the back 9 for a wild finish, and Matt Kuchar who was out of it.

They get to 18 in the pitch dark, and Kuchar doesn't wait and blasts his tee shot into the group ahead that's standing in the fairway. Dangerous move. Presumably to ensure they got to finish tonight, but then for Kuchar's second shot he goes to the official and says he's done for the day. The rest of the group gets to go ahead and finish their round. So now everyone else is done and Kuchar is going to come back in the morning to finish 18 by himself while being 7 shots down. Never seen that before. Grounds crew has to really love this. LMAO

KC_Connection 08-11-2024 09:52 PM

Kuchar continues to be a total d-bag. Not surprised at all by these latest antics and his explanation doesn't even make sense.

On another note....just got back from a 3 day trip to French Lick for our annual KC vs STL I-70 Cup that my college buddies and I do every summer. Totally in the middle of nowhere and not much going on outside of the resort, but the golf is the tits. Pristine grounds and worth making the trip if any of you have never played. The Dye course gets all the love but I liked the Ross course just as much.

scho63 08-12-2024 09:20 AM

There was something more that was going on that pissed Kuchar off.

The quick tee off on 18 into the group in front of him made me feel like they were pissed they kept waiting so long and wanted Aaron Rai put on the clock. He can be very slow like a lot of Europeans and then Kuchar is stuck playing in the dark.

I think he wanted to stick it to them.

I would like to hear the whole story.

He said after the round apparently that he didn't think the tournament should have had them playing that late. He did it out of a protest. What he thought he would accomplish by doing so other than looking like an asshole, though, I'm not sure.

What did he do? I don't even know

EDIT: I don't see what he did wrong. He teed off on 18 and it was so dark he couldn't even see the people on the fairway. Then an official gave all three in his group the option to play tomorrow (Monday) or continue. He choose to just finish on Monday. Especially being he was not in contention I really don't see what the big deal is. He was probably having trouble seeing and thought that gave him the best chance to make a good score on 18.

From what he said yesterday, he didn't give a real **** about that at all (he also rushed his drive on 18, hitting into the group in front of him, before deciding to stop). He wanted to stick it to the tournament for having them out there over the last few holes.

He made a par on that hole. If he bogeyed it, he would have made $60,000 LESS. Double bogey or worse about $80,000.

He hit into Rai cause he couldn't see them.

Hard to disagree on this weird format.

I'm curious of the winner who overcame the greatest starting deficit.

BWillie 09-01-2024 01:40 PM

Sheffler is a better overall ball striker than Tiger Woods. Change my mind.

Tiger WAS a much better putter and probably a better mid iron player though. Tiger never hit his driver as accurate as Scottie. Of course he was a complete idiot and refused to move to a graphite shaft from steel shaft and upgrade his ball. Still the better player but Ive never seen someone hit the ball better than Scottie.

Scotty’s shank out of the bunker was as bad a shot as you’ll ever see a pro hit.

That looked like something I’d do on the back 9 after drinking all day.

Of course he followed it up with a 4 iron to 5 feet.

The only other bad shank I can remember like that was Jack Nicklaus hit a 50 ft worm burner off the tee with a driver back in the 80s.

I've seen some crazy duck hooks and wild wayward shots but a true shank like an amatuer is rare.

Scotty hit a true shank. He was rattled by being put on the clock again and was rushing like crazy.

Morikawa sucks as a playing partner due to his super slow play but he is a hell of a nice guy. Gracious as could be after he lost.

I think the Nicklaus shot you're referring to was the 1989 PGA at Kemper Lake. Tom Kite was playing with him that day and said Jack bagged the driver for the entire round after that, even though the course was extremely long at the time.

Brody Wa 09-02-2024 03:37 PM

I’m pissed off at the PGA playoffs because Rahm and De Chambeu are not in the field. If Mclroy goes to the LIV golf I’ll probably just watch the 4 majors. They talked about combining the 2 leagues but so far it hasn’t happened.

This is EXACTLY why amateurs are amateurs. Giving up 10-15 shots on or around the greens: chipping, sand traps, putting.

When I got down to a 7.2 handicap between 1996 and 2004, it began with practicing in sand traps a lot, chipping from all over and practicing putting, especially inside 5-6 feet.

Amazing how you can quickly drive down your handicap.

Oh I don't practice short game. I see bros out on the practice green with string, tees in the ground. Looking like some geometry lesson. Buncha dorks.

I've practicing putting before and it made no difference. It isnt my putting stroke that is the problem. Its inside of my dome. The choke will never go away.

I think the Nicklaus shot you're referring to was the 1989 PGA at Kemper Lake. Tom Kite was playing with him that day and said Jack bagged the driver for the entire round after that, even though the course was extremely long at the time.

You might be right. I'll try to find it. Great memory if you nailed it. :thumb:

Flying to Minneapolis today with my 11 year old for drive chip and putt regionals at Hazeltine. 1 win away from Augusta.

Thought we’d be able to play football this morning but weather delay means we had to miss sadly. He’s the qb and I’m the head coach so not excited about that but it is what it is

Take dead aim, aim small and good luck to the young man.

I don't know if this is the place, but my golf cart batteries are on their final season.

I'm going to change to a lithium pack, I am open to what you'd suggest or stay away from.

My best friend in NJ lives in a retirement community and bought a used electric golf thinking he got a deal.

He has spent a fortune on all new batteries, a battery distributor or some regulator piece, a defective 4 month old battery he tossed the receipt away, a new ECU that prevented going over 5 mph.

He is into an old golf cart for like $8-9K and another one of his "deals" that has been a money pit.

He has two boats he got "deals" on years ago and neither is in the water yet. Nothing but problems. I just shake my head.

Internationals just straight up embarrassing USA today in the sweep. Was Scheffler out partying last night in Montreal?

Americans putting the pedal to the metal in the single matches so far.

Lot's of red on the board. It's a long day though so it could tighten up before it's over.

I wish this competition would be close and competitive, but the American talent differential is just too much.

Homa!

International starting to gain some advantage but in a nearly impossible position.
