There's a reason nobody was recruiting Mitchell.

Yeah, have you looked at the 'unaccounted expenses' that they didn't figure into that chart?

I don't recall the figure, but my recollection was that the NCAA let him slide on tends of thousands in 'unaccounted for' benefits.

Hey, like I said, some teams just cheat better than others.

Having watched Pony Excess yesterday, given the Newton ruling, and seeing that Mitchell is ineligible while Selby plays makes me want to drive a dinner fork through the cerebellum of Mark Emmert

Mitchell's case is more like Darrell Arthur's (sp?) where his transcripts were suspect. Obviously though, he got cleared no problem.

See - we really need to get better at this.

I know. I'm well aware of Mr. Mitchell's truancy problem. What concerns me is the six month jerkoff we had ****ing around with this process, while other clearly ineligible athletes are allowed to play with little (Selby) to no (Newton) penalties.

"There's nothing right now that says anything improper occurred," he said. "I think we have to start from that perspective. Right now, all that's out there is the word of a former teacher.

"In our mind, we obviously had nothing to do with the situation. The high school sends the transcript to the NCAA. The NCAA decides whether the player is eligible. The NCAA declared Darrell Arthur eligible. I can't imagine a scenario where Kansas would be affected by this."

Selby a clearly ineligible athlete? How so?

If I had the link I wouldn't have had to go with "I don't recall the exact figure..."

It was not a trifling sum. Seriously - are you going to honestly argue that everything was on the level with Selby? I'm sure it's his mom that got him that 'Cedes he tools around in.

The Mercedes was never his or his moms and was, in fact, one of the impermissible benefits listed by the NCAA (along with tickets, meals and lodging). Selby missed 9 games and has to pay ~$5000 back as his penalty. See John Wall, Renardo Sydney and Enes Kanter as your reference points for different levels of punishments for impermissible benefits and/or amateur status.

I've read 17 articles and the official NCAA statement on Selby and I don't recall seeing anything about any unaccounted expenses. I don't even know WTF you mean by that.
