I think Tyshawn Taylor had meniscus surgery during the season this year and only missed one game. It may not be too bad.

Man we're cursed.

Nice to see Perez following the example of Mike Sweeney.

My instant kneejerk thought was "oh come on, this is way different, not like he screwed up his lower back, just a little knee tear he'll be fine in a few wee.... oh wait, he's a catcher. Damn it."

I'm sure he'll be back and ready to go, but hopefully he didn't shave off a year or two from the back end of his career behind the plate, because so far his bat doesn't play in fair territory.

Sweeney was a nice guy, but he was also the biggest thief in the history of the Royals. He made $63 MILLION from his KC contract from 2002-2007. During that time, he never played in more than 126 games in a season, and in 2006-2007 played in less than 75 games both of those years. His contract cost us a shot at keeping Damon, Dye and Beltran. Once he got paid, he went right down the shitter. 2005 was his last "all star" year -he was the only guy on the team who could qualify as a borderline "all star" since every team had to be represented. He literally stole $22 million from the team in 2006-2007. Oh, and during that six year span, Royals finished dead last or next to last five out of those six years.

That is why we might be looking at 3-4 months instead of 6-8 weeks like normal for a meniscus (assuming that is all it is). The Royals won't rush the guy at all.

That being said I don't think a meniscus tear is something that has much long term implications. I tore mine in high school and at the time I was considering pitching in college, doctor told me 2 months rehab and it would be like it never happened.

According to the scout BB the Royals will be making "major news announcement" concerning Perez's injury soon.

According to the Star he is currently returning to KC:

Kings of Kauffman is also reporting rumors are out there that he is done for the year.

If he is done for the year its probably an ACL/MCL, and he may never be the same again.

Shit.

Why couldn't I have been born in Fargo or Lexington or some shit where I wouldn't have a pro team to root for ever?

BigCatDaddy 03-14-2012 11:47 AM

Good thing we just inked him to that long term deal

I disagree, with this franchise it's easy to believe.....:(

chiefqueen 03-14-2012 11:52 AM

Accorsding to the Royals BB, Joel Goldberg was on Soren Petro's show this morning and said the Royals are making their "major news announcement" at noon. Since it is almost 1:00 in KC, I'm assumming Goldberg means noon AZ time (2:00 in KC).

Look at it this way... considering both the Chiefs and Royals past 25 year history it's like you don't have a pro sports team to root for here either.

Better?
