The problem with putting completely unverified stuff out there is people on this board read it, believe it, and absorb it. What’s more likely: it was misheard and then very, very casually misreported by BRC or he heard it right and it just hasn’t been picked up by any internet content providers who are starved for these sorts of details?

No disagreements from me. Just the comparisons to the Tyreek situation need to stop as they are not even remotely close. KC can far more afford to lose Tyreek than Jones. While Jones is critical to the defense, both sides need to be reasonable regarding his contract.

There’s nothing the Chiefs can do, really — paying over $30 million doesn’t seem like a good idea, and at that price, he’s most likely untradable. At this point, the Chiefs probably should let him explore trade options to show him and his agent that he won’t find a team out there that will give up draft picks and give him north of $30 million. And if some team does, you trade him.
