He's blind in that eye. It used to be even more pronounced before he had surgery last winter.

Well shit. He's really blind in that eye and pitches that well?

Jesus, now I feel like a chump. Good for him.

jd1020 10-19-2016 09:06 PM

I've never heard anything about his left eye being blind, just that it's obviously tough for him to see out of it.

jd1020 10-19-2016 09:08 PM

Pretty shocked Pederson wasn't tossed.

With the debates and these ****ing Cubs, my facebook newsfeed is driving me ****ing nuts right now. I prefer it so much more when the Cubs are out of contention in May.

Not sure how the Cubs fans are like where all of you guys are from...but in Southeast Iowa and with the shit-ton of Cubs fans I went to college with (Chica-burbians), I can say with total confidence that Cubs fans are the ****ing worst. They are the reason I became a Chiefs fan at age 6 or 7...my dad tried raising me to be a Cards/Bears fan... when I started putting the pieces together that the Bears fans were the same Cubs fans I argued with every single day at recess, I decided that I COULDN'T root for that team.... **** the Bears. And when their kicker, Kevin Butler missed like 3-4 field goals in one game and lost against the Raiders (of all teams), I looked at my dad and said, "sorry, I can't do it...I can't root for this shitty ****ing team with their shitty ****ing fans. I'll never root for them again." My dad was like, "whatever son...this is a team full of dumbasses, but you'll be back." The next week, I was a full-fledged Chiefs fan.

I am a Chiefs fan because I hate the Cubs. This has been an annoying Summer.

Rizzo and Russell showing life.

Choking up on a 2 strike pitch and still drives it over the wall in center. His power is ridiculous.

He struck out the time he choked up. He wasn't choked up on the HR.

Good job on your pennant chase, Connection!

You definitely did chase!

duncan_idaho 10-19-2016 09:44 PM

I was thinking he was completely blind out of it, but maybe he's just "legally" blind out of it.

Vague memory from a prospect podcast from a few years back. Looks like I was slightly off.

I noticed that after the replay directly following the HR. Im just used to him automatically choking up on the bat with 2 strikes. What I didn't know is that he was using Szczurs bat. I can only assume his bat isn't as heavy.

I grew up with two grandfathers that were diehard Cardinal baseball fans and so I had no issue with them until I went to school in Warrensburg,MO in 1981.Of course I was a KC fan and when I joined a fraternity I was surrounded by about 80% Cards fans that never let up on the Royals.

"oh you root for that minor league team up in KC,you guys sure shit the bed against the Phillies, your team will always be #2 in Missouri....yadda yadda yadda."

Got so bad I swore to NEVER cheer for the Cards again and so chose the Cubbies as my National League team.

Sure wished the hell I could've been there in '85 when KC handed their asses to them and now just hoping the Cubs can win one if for nothing else just to say suck it Cards fans.

POND_OF_RED 10-19-2016 11:00 PM

**** yeah Cubbies. Just bought tickets for tomorrow nights game. Gonna be ****ing insane.

Man, it's crazy how different peoples' perspectives can be, pending on where they live, etc.

I have knowledge that the Royals and Cardinals do have a rivalry....the I-70 series. And with the Cardinals and Royals being from the same state...and with the whole Denkinger series...etc.... I can understand why there is one... I've just never seen it or been part of it. The Cardinals fans from my area tend to claim the White Sox, Twins or Royals as their American League team. My extended and immediate family have always liked the Royals as our American League team. No hate for the Royals...and to be honest, I've never personally witnessed Royal hate from the Cards fans....I am used to it being opposite, for the most part. I'm a Cards fan, but I really like the Royals and root for them unless they are playing the Cards....and there are a ton of "Cardinals 1st, Royals- my American team" fans out there just like me in my area.

That sucks that you had a bad experience with the Cards fans...we're not all bad...that sucks to know that there are Cards fans who act that way towards Royals fans. I think it's pretty silly.

All in all, though....**** the Cubs. God damn their Iowa/Illinois region fanbase is the WORST in sports...in my world, anyways. I would gladly take 100 KnowMo's over 1 "typical" Cubs fan...or at least the type of Cubs fans I've been around (Eastern Iowans and Chicaburbians). The simple brief glimpse of a Cubs logo will immediately make me angry.

Urias underwent three surgeries on his left eye during his youth to remove a benign mass. As a result, his left eye is nearly closed, but he is able to see through it. When asked about his eye condition, Urias, a devout Roman Catholic, said, "That's how God works. He gave me a bad left eye but a good left arm." On May 19, 2015, Urias had an elective surgery to correct the condition.

Just put money down on the Cubs to win it all.

After Dane said they would fold it was pretty much a guaranteed lock.
