That reasoning makes no sense whatsoever, unless Glass is deathly ill and ready to die at any moment. Even then, there's no way in hell the sale of a MLB team can be completed before the end of the year. Whoever said that was ignorantly searching for reasons to explain something that no one believes will happen.

Even if Glass dies tomorrow, and even if the Royals can be sold extremely quickly before the law changes (it will change), most people think congress will try to apply this retroactively to January 1. That would spark a court fight, but you cant plan to take advantage of the lack of an estate tax, its something you tragically luck into this year when billionaire grandpa kicks off and you successfully defend in court.

He bought the team for around $88 million in 2001. It would probably sell today for about $350 million. Not a bad profit for ten years of providing multiple 100-loss season to long suffering KC fans.

This could be a good thing, as long as the new owners keep the team in KC.

In the past I've heard Portland and Indianapolis would like to steal the Royals. Portland has Nike Money. Indianapolis took the NCAA HQ away from KC, and the Colts from Baltimore. So I guess anything is possible. I don't know anybody here in KC who would pony up $350 million for the Royals, so the new owner would most likely be absentee.

Maybe we could talk Will Ferrell or Charlie Sheen into buying them?

Here's the Channel 41 Video:

Let's see when the Royals were for sale and no one local would step up to the $88 million Glass offered. Lamar and Westar offered @ $50 Million, Jerry Green was in the $55-60 million range and George, Rush and Gateway Computer were in that same range. If no one local wanted to buy the team at those prices who is going to spend $350 million now? This is why we don't have the NBA or NHL no local owners.
There is an out in the lease as this is in any pro sports lease...if an owner is willing to spend $350 million another city will be will to pay the buy out to get the team. Not to mention that KCMO is looking to back out of the money they promised that may break the lease. At best it goes to court just like the Socis before the move to OKC.

What do you think of this deal? Callaspo definetly did not have a starting spot, but would've made a decent backup. i like 2 young pitchers, even if they arent great. O'Sullivan certainly could be a replacement for Davies/Bannister

That said i expect Steven St John to get an O'sullivan jersey since they look like twins

the more I read about Smith the more I like this deal seems like they rushed him but he is still very young

Buster Olney ripped the proposed deal this morning on the Border Patrol.

But...hard to tell. Two reasonable prospects for a player with no future with us isn't the end of the world. Color me "meh."

I heard Passan rip on O'Sullivan tis morning too...that said he used to be a top prospect in their system. Worst case we may have a #4 or 5 out of one of these guys

Yep. This is the type of deal that isn't worth getting too excited about, but I see it as nothing but upside for the Royals. We know what Callaspo is, but 21/22-year-old pitchers, especially one lefty, can do a lot to make this trade a win for KC.

P.S. **** you, Pods, you worthless sack of shit. Please quit ****ing around, Dayton, and get Kila and Gordon up now.

DDJ out, Gordon up

This is definitely good news. Now the rub will be if Gordon gets regular ABs. He should be starting every game from now until the end of the season.

If Callaspo had some trade value, certainly Pods does, too. And I would put on a full-court press to move him.

Trade or release Guillen. Bring up Kila, and let's see what we have.
