I'm Going On Record And Saying We Pick Thomas Davis
 

FS/OLB with our 15th pick in the draft. It won't matter if we have acquired a CB either he'll be the pick. I really like him and it would be a great pick if we were to have Surtain on board but that looks like a long shot so hopefully a good CB will fall to us in the 2nd as well as the later rounds. It's a deep draft for CBs all the way through.

That's what my gut is telling me and I just wanted to put it out there. Everybody posts their druthers I figured I post my gut feeling of what will happen. Without a CB on board this board will go Ka-BOOM! My druthers are Rogers or one of the other three CBs or Davis providing Johnson doesn't fall. He won't.

My gut says that there's a better chance of Johnson falling than there is of one of the top 3 corners. Virtually no chance, in any case. I think they'll all be gone, but if one of the four players makes it, I'd guess it'll be either Jones or Johnson.

Kiper was talking about that with Derrick Johnson. He said he was probably one of the most disagreed upon players... some teams practically had him at the top of their board, others had him practically at 2nd round value. I can't imagine he falls all the way to us though. I would be giddy if he did, that's great value at 15, if either him or Davis are there.

Can you imagine the reaction if he did fall to 15, and it turned out we were one of the teams that view him as 2nd round value. Say, for instance, he was there, and we traded down...

Don't.... not even gonna think about it. You'd have to peel the remains of my head off the wall.

I don't want Johnson. I'm in the camp of people that think he's too soft and takes bad angles. I just don't see in him what you see in the real superstar LBs in the NFL. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying it, but I expect DJ to be a very average NFL LB.

If by some unforseen reason that DJ is still on the Board when we pick, this is EXACTLY what I see us doing - and it will probably be a trade down to the lower part of the 1st round and we'll pick up a 4th and 5th rounder from the trade.

That's my call as well.

I'm hopin' Rolle or Rogers are still on the board, and CP surprises me....but Davis would be my third choice. The only other possibility is if Merriman is still available....if it's not one of those four, then someone had better have slipped to us (DJ) or Peterson should be shot.

I hope you're right. I'd love to have Davis.

My fear is that after two years at FS, we'd try to turn him into a LB.
