Warpaint Illustrated has confirmed that the Kansas City Chiefs have filled the majority of the assistant offensive coaching positions. Here’s the rundown on the new staff.

WIDE RECEIVERS – Karl Dorrell

After five seasons as head coach at UCLA, Dorrell was fired in December. He has previous NFL experience as a wide receivers coach from three years in Denver, where he helped Rod Smith and Ed McCaffery develop into one of the best receiving tandems in the league. The pair combined for 201 receptions in 2000. Dorrell is also credited with helping Charles Johnson and Michael Westbrook flourish at Colorado in the early 90s.

QUARTERBACKS – ???

At the moment Dick Curl remains Kansas City’s quarterbacks coach, but we’ve learned that it’s a possibility Eric Price could end up taking over the position if he chooses to leave his current job as offensive coordinator at the University of Texas-El Paso. Price briefly coached Brodie Croyle at Alabama and has history with Herm Edwards, as he served as an offensive assistant with the New York Jets in 2001 and 2002, where he was instrumental in preparing quarterback Chad Pennington to play. Price also coached quarterbacks at Washington State from 1998-2000.

Price may end up as receivers coach for Chiefs
MOBILE, Ala. | Eric Price recently interviewed to become the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator but could join their coaching staff in a different capacity.

Price, the offensive coordinator at Texas-El Paso, might be joining the Chiefs as their wide receivers coach. The Chiefs’ first choice to become receivers coach, former UCLA coach Karl Dorrell, took a job with the Miami Dolphins.

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards hired Chan Gailey instead of Price as offensive coordinator. But Edwards thinks highly of Price, who once coached for him when Edwards was with the New York Jets.

The Chiefs recently hired Colorado State offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins as running backs coach and Bob Bicknell as offensive line coach. Modkins was running backs coach for Gailey at Georgia Tech. Bicknell was the Chiefs’ assistant offensive line coach last season.
WHO TO BELIEVE?!?

You have to be kidding me. A lot of Planeteers seemed to be very high on the Dorrell hiring.

Then again, maybe they were just very high.

You can't blame Nick. His source said Dorrell was the wide receivers coach. What is Nick supposed to do?

I don't even know how Nick works. It's possible he did that.

We updated our website at midday so maybe something happened between now and then.

LMAO LMAO

That's the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard. What hack journalism.

"Well, someone told me this, so it must be true. Better run and put it in my article. Hope it's true!!"

Make it clear that what he's writing is speculative and try to check with other (credible) sources.

From Bruin's Nation:

http://www.bruinsnation.com/story/2008/1/21/181731/356

After the blockbuster hiring of Norm Chow, the football program gets a nice shot in the (financial) arm thanks to Kansas City, which reportedly has hired Karl Dorrell as it's receivers coach:

From Rocky Mountain News:

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/new...front-runner-/

Former UCLA coach Karl Dorrell is considered the front-runner now that Chan Gailey has been hired as the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator.

From The Phinsider:

http://www.thephinsider.com/story/2008/1/21/02858/4130

Also, former UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell interviewed with the Dolphins this past week for the WR coach job. But Dorrell has also been offered the same job with a few other teams (KC and Denver, I believe). It's unknown where he might be leaning.

From The Denver Post:

http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_8022074

Karl Dorrell is expected to decide on his future in the next few days. He was in Kansas City and in Miami talking to the Chiefs and Dolphins this week.

He has a chance to coach the receivers for both teams. Denver has also reached out to Dorrell and will give him an opportunity to join the offensive staff, most likely coaching the receivers. If Dorrell doesn't join the Denver staff, the team may not hire a receivers coach.

From WPI:

http://www.wpi.com/

We've learned that Karl Dorrell is considering accepting the position of head greeter at the first WalMart to open on the planet Mars. WalMart has interviewed several candidates for the job and our sources say they like Dorrell's sunny disposition plus he has his own spaceman outfit.
