Dan Williams

Going on record now. If he's there at 11 Miami takes him. They just lost Ferguson, who was already ancient and a free agent to a drug suspension.

If Denver doesn't take him at 11, he won't get past Miami.

I still won't be shocked if we take him at 5.

Soliai did a fairly decent job playing NT for the Dolphins last season. Now with that in mind, the top pass-rushing option at OLB they have to work with at the moment would be Jason Taylor that will be 36 by opening day.

I would prefer linval joseph in the late third or early fourth to dan williams at 5. But I anticipate it will be williams.

Williams could go as early as Cleveland, Buffalo is another great option provided Clausen doesn't fall.

Sadly, I could see Williams going as early as Kansas City.

Well that's possible because this team is reeruned.

Its a classic pioli pick.

It would be a great pick IMO. He's a guy that can really help our with the passing and rush defense right away. Right now I'm pulling for him or Berry at number 5.

Our DL is much thinner and has much less potential then our OL IMO. We can't survive another year with Ron Edwards at NT.

We have two top five picks playing on the defensive line. That's two out of three positions being manned by top five picks.

And you think it's imperative that we spend another top five pick on the defensive line because it's been neglected? Because it's thin without any talent? After spending two top five picks on that positin over the past two years?

That our offensive line has more potential than that? Because we've spent a grand total of ONE pick in the first three rounds on the offensive line over the last TEN years?

You have got to be kidding, right?

Other then Dorsey, who do you feel good about on our defensive line? We were 31st in the NFL against the run and gave up 27 pts a game. I saw some improvement with our offense once LJ was gone, I really didn't see it with our defense.

This is actually a really good point. Pioli wasn't known for reaching much in New England on defensive players. Yes, he whiffed on Maroney but you really can't argue with any of his defensive first rounders.

In 2004, he got Wilfork at 21. He could have ended up with Marcus Tubbs just as easily. as he went two picks later to Seattle. He was also a big NT type prospect that saw his career destroyed by injuries. Difference between the two was that Wilfork was viewed as a high first round talent while Tubbs was a borderline first rounder.

Either way, Wilfork could have gone off the board much sooner and Pioli could have missed out or moved up to get him. They clearly had the need, but he stayed at 21 and got him.

Hopefully last year was an aberration.

"Classic" Pioli = Good drafts in N.E. were because of Belichick.
"Classic" Pioli = Bad drafts in N.E., were because of Pioli.
"Classic" Pioli = the abortion of a draft in KC last year.
