A Pet Naming Quandary
We're getting a new dog and are arguing about names.
My boys (5 and 7) have both settled on the name Chief. It is wrong of me to not want this name for our new dog because I see it as something of an ill omen for the dog at this point. Is this how far we've sunk? I'm still pushing for Hugo (a local restaurant, Hugo's, plays a significant role in our family's lives). Should I just make peace with Chief as a name and have confidence that the pall hanging over the franchise has finally been lifted? I don't really want to say to the kids, "Listen boys. The Chiefs suck. We don't really want to name our dog after a shitty team do we?" |
Name it

Tell them that they can name him Chief if they take care of him.
|
Train it to be a justice-upholding dog and name it Javert. Avoid bread thieves though.

Ironically, I'll be the one taking care of and training the dog non stop. I'll be the one taking him out to poop in the middle of the night while we're crate training him. I should get naming rights, damnit! |

I keep telling him, "I'm so glad you came up with the name, Hugo. That was brilliant son." So far, it hasn't worked. |

Do it....stick with Chief. |

"We didn't name him after you, Trent. We spell it with an 'I.'" |
