Sapp says Strahan doesn’t belong in the Hall of Fame

Warren Sapp was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year. He doesn’t think Michael Strahan deserves to join him this year.

Sapp said at Super Bowl Media Day that Strahan simply wasn’t good enough to make it.

“I don’t think his résumé stacks up,” Sapp said, via Neil Best of Newsday. “He only has four straight Pro Bowls and a mythical sack record. When you really measure him up he comes up short.”

Sapp has been complaining for years about Strahan’s sack record of 22.5, which Strahan set in the last game of the 2001 season when Brett Favre appeared to slide down in front of him intentionally to hand him the record. Sapp said while they were both still playing that there should be an asterisk next to his record because it wasn’t a real record; Strahan responded that there should be a McDonald’s next to Sapp’s house because Sapp is fat.

But Sapp is wrong about Strahan’s Pro Bowls. In fact, Sapp and Strahan were chosen to the same number of Pro Bowls (seven) and to the same number of first-team All-Pro teams (four).

Fortunately for Strahan, Sapp doesn’t get a Hall of Fame vote. The members of the media who do get a vote will determine on Saturday whether Strahan will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2014.

Ahhhhh...I get it! There should be a McD's next to Sapp's house in case the one inside his house runs out of food. Well planned and played, Herr Gaptooth!

I think Strahan is a borderline candidate. I wouldn't complain if he got in, but I don't really care either way. He has seven pro bowls and Deron Cherry has six. I think they're equally deserving.

Sapp's kind of a schmuck, so this will probably work in Strahan's favor.

Neither one of them belong in the Hall.

Strahan responded that there should be a McDonald’s next to Sapp’s house because Sapp is fat.

Pro Bowls should not be a determining factor. They have got pro bowl players so watered down now to me with all the replacements we end up with a lot of "pro bowlers" that are really just pretty good, but someone got injured while someone else was in the SB, and someone else couldn't make it so they get in any way.
It is easy to see where the 8th or 9th best player at a position could get voted to the pro bowl regularly.
And of course lets not forget most of all there is a lot of popularity that goes into who is or isn't a pro bowler. We have all seen players go to the pro bowl on reputation from years past.

not even close. Jalen Rose vs Grant Hill actually has a storied history/rivalry.

this is just two guys in the NFL that played around the same time arguing over who did better at getting carried to a super bowl, a couple pro bowls and some sacks. NFL let's any slapdick in the their hall of fame. Play over 10 years and put up some decent stats and you got a chance.

I definitely feel like they are letting too many people into the Hall. Strahan probably deserves to be, but there should be fewer.

That is a fine, high-quality point.

SAPP got his shoes repo'd by the repo man

he should STFU ROFL

f you like shoes ... especially RARE Air Jordans (and you happen to be a Size 15) you're in luck, 'cause Warren Sapp's ENTIRE collection is up for auction ... as part of his bankruptcy case.

The collection is INSANE -- a total of 240 pairs of Jordans ... some worn, some untouched.

TMZ broke the story ... Sapp filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy earlier this year ... claiming he's racked up millions of dollars in debts since he retired from the NFL. Warren's expensive shoe habit probably didn't help the situation.

But now, Warren's loss is your gain ... because the entire collection is now up for auction ... with all proceeds going towards paying back Warren's creditors.
