****OFFICIAL BRAGGIN' RIGHTS GAME THREAD****

Mizzou's basketball team is currently ranked #25 in the country, and it's the first time we've been ranked in years. However, this game is really a make or break one for us, because many fans will jump right back off the bandwagon if we don't beat the hated Illini tonight.

We haven't beaten Illinois in the Braggin' Rights game since 1999 - an astonishing 8 game losing streak. However, under CMA the last two years, we've lost by a combined 4 points.

Let's get a win tonight! If not, let's at least tackle Chief Illiniwek!!!

Sully 12-23-2008 05:03 PM

Can't wait.
Going to Fox n Hound with a bunch of TCU alums to watch the Poinsettia Bowl, and had to make sure to go early to catch the beginning of the Mizzou game.

blueballs 12-23-2008 05:05 PM

I love MU football
but I'd care more about Rhonda Moss' tan line
than anything Bball

KChiefs1 12-23-2008 05:18 PM

Mizzou Basketball hasn't been the same sit ole Stormin' Norman.

I happen to really like Mike Anderson though....I'm hoping he gets MU back to the days of Doug Smith/Anthony Peeler/John Brown/Al Eberhard/Willie Smith/Kim Anderson/Jim Kennedy/Nathan Buntin/Derrick Chievous/Lee Coward/Ricky Frazier/Jon Sunvold & Steve Stipanovich.

Priest31kc 12-23-2008 05:34 PM

so PUMPED UP about this game. One hour to go.

CoMoChief 12-23-2008 05:45 PM

The best team MU's ever had was with Quin Snyder in 2002 and they shit their pants that season and finished 4th in the Big12.

They will never get back to that level.

Illini 78 MU 70

That team was better than when they went undefeated in the Big 8 in 94?

What about when they were ranked #1 with Anthony Peeler and Doug Smith?

What about the Stipo and Sunvold days?

You need to get up to date on your Mizzou history if you think the 02 team was our best ever.

ArrowheadHawk 12-23-2008 05:48 PM

Good luck guys. Illinois pretty much sucks now that Self has been gone awhile though.

5 MU teams better than that one.....

1. 1975-76 - Willie Smith, Kim Anderson, Jim Kennedy 26-5
2. 1981-82 - Steve Stipanovich, Jon Sunvold, Ricky Frazier 27-4
3. 1986-87 - Derrick Chievous, Lee Coward 24-10
4. 1988-89 - Doug Smith, Anthony Peeler, Gary Leonard 29-8
5. 1993-94 - Melvin Booker, Jevon Crudup, Kelly Thames 28-4

This is the time of year where I begin proving my fandom.

Is the game on tv?

This is about right. Illinois has made basically every shot.

Demetri McCamey: 5-5 FGs, 3-3 3pt

**** you Demetri!

luv 12-23-2008 06:59 PM

Perimeter D needs to step it up a notch. We also need to land a few of those threes, or do better about offensive rebounding.

luv 12-23-2008 07:03 PM

way to leave the man under the net wide open. :doh!:

Pitt Gorilla 12-23-2008 07:06 PM

I am unable to watch the game (per usual), but it sounds like another Illinois/MU game. Some guy for their team makes everything and MU plays flat.

Illi is up 30-18 with 3:51 to go in the half.

luv 12-23-2008 07:11 PM

We do know that the ball is supposed to go in the net, right? Hell we've been standing back and watching Illi do it all evening.

Reaper16 12-23-2008 07:13 PM

Mizzou looks like the worst offensive team in the whole conference tonight. Maybe Mike Anderson should have been telling his team that this game is pretty important rather than telling them that its "just another game."

There's a small chance that Illinois could magically go as cold in the 2nd as MU was during the 1st half, but there is no way that MU gets as hot as Illinois was. I agree with you.

Nebraska is losing at home to UMBC 41-27, 5 minutes in to the 2nd half.

University of Maryland Baltimore-County.

Good God, this team is awful.

I don't see any reason why we should keep Mike Anderson after this season. He hasn't shown any progress in 3 years.

Don't know how you can determine that off the basis of one game.

I'm just sayin, give him at least until the end of this season. MU still very well may be a top 4 or 5 Big XII team.

Iowa State ROFL
Nebraska ROFL
Colorado ROFL

At least Missouri lost to a "decent" school...

I've got faith in 'em. I hate Missouri and everything it stands for but Coach Mike Anderson is leaps and bounds better than the other failures hired at Nebraska, Colorado and Iowa State. You know, the ones that were supposed to be "Solid long term hires" when compared to Frank Martin, the "desperation" hire.

You have to give MU some credit for hiring Anderson. The could have hired Huggins.

Yeah, it's really worked out. THugs left after one season for Morgantown, WVA, and now KSUck has the most ridiculed coach in D-1 hoops. Gotta love and be proud of that!

Frank still has a couple years to go before he catches half the shit Quin did in his tenure.

"Kansas coach Bill Self is in the house, a haunting and taunting presence considering all that's gone wrong for Missouri's basketball program since 1999. That's when Self lost out to Quin Snyder at the wire in the first coaching search conducted - some would say flubbed - by Missouri director of athletics Mike Alden. "

Wish we could've pulled out a W but atleast we are still 9-2 bad 1st half
