Banner getting all kinds of notice. Whitlock wants in on billboard

From the news last night to sports talk shows. The Banner has been mentioned more times than I can count. On KCTV 5 it was even mentioned by the regular news crew, not just the sports peeps.

Heard on the radio this morning that supposedly Whitlock is willing to donate $600 for a billboard in Dallas telling Clark to fire Pioli.

htismaqe 10-08-2012 08:33 AM

Have you heard the banner mentioned independent of the "classless fans" who cheered when Cassel got hit?

I haven't, and that's unfortunate.

bevischief 10-08-2012 08:39 AM

Sweet!!!!!!!!!

Predarat 10-08-2012 08:40 AM

They are talking about it in Wichita, Bob and Bruce on KFH.

aturnis 10-08-2012 08:41 AM

Yeah, the plane was cool, but only lasted an hour. The billboard would last at least a month, no?

In retrospect, I regret flying a "stay down bitch" banner over Cassel's hospital.

Billboards don't work. Just as Oakland.

Obviously we don't need to pay the money to have something for 1 month to reach national headlines. The banner was much better bang for the buck.

Dayze 10-08-2012 11:08 AM

Dan has enough money in between the cushions of his couch toe cover the billboards expenses.

bevischief 10-08-2012 11:09 AM

We need to fly the banner in Dallas during business hours near where Clark works.

Chiefnj2 10-08-2012 11:10 AM

The billboard should simply be a running clock since the last time KC won a playoff game.

I'm envisioning Todd Haley visiting Cassel in the hospital and turning him against Pioli, ala Joker/Two-Face.

Over a Cowboys game would get more attention.

We should'nt focus on trying for Clark to see the banner live in action (that's going to be tough), but we want to embarrass him in the national media until he makes change.

We thank Whitlock for his donation. We make no promise about a billboard in Dallas. The money will go where we decide. If that is not good enough and the money from Whitlock is earmarked for billboard use only, I will not cash the check. He has to let me know though.

On the phone this morning, I told him the billboard in Dallas was WAY out of our price range at roughly $17K. He said it was for whatever use we needed it for our "movement", banners, billboards, or whatever.

Well considering one group is very real and the other is largely a media-created myth, the answer is probably "no".

Jwhit always got unfairly blasted imo.

If anything, he drops the race card too often, but a lot of times when he talks about the "hip hop culture" and all of that, I even tend to agree with him there.

Fly it over one of Clark's soccer games.

This.

Also, add a running clock since our last Super Bowl win.

hometeam 10-08-2012 03:15 PM

While running a clock from last playoff victory seems a good idea in theory. In practice it will need to be up for far too long for us to fund it~

I never stipulated how the money had to be spent. Fescoe added that on the radio. I don't care how you spend the money. My preference is a banner in Tampa. Keep the movement going and I will donate again.

Fire Pioli and Eric Winston!

You know, it appears that I've been wrong about Jason Whitlock. I think I owe him an apology. He's stepping up to the plate and that speaks volumes as to where his heart is (belly joke excluded here).

I'm not oblivious to the fact that, should Pioli be canned, it will have proven Whitlock right and make a very nice article. However, any potential self-interest should not diminish the value of his support ... especially now, at this crucial time.

So, please accept my apology Mr. jwhit. I have much to learn about peeps and their strange ways.

I will second that. I don't back off the amount of times I have disagreed with some of your takes over the years, but I certainly can't question your effort and heart in the fanbase's hour of need.

No need for apologies. Think whatever you want. It's America. I've always believed in keeping heat on management.

CoMoChief 10-08-2012 04:24 PM

Whitlock brought up race/social economic issues far too often when they weren't necessarily warranted at times. Having that said many of his articles are spot on when it comes to the Chiefs and management. I always enjoyed reading his articles whether I agreed with them or not. The Star is missing it's firepower (at least in the sports section) and no one really buys print media anymore unless you're from the older generation. If any national media knows what us Chiefs fans are going through it's him...and if he's willing to donate towards what we're trying to do here then that's flat out awesome!!! And if I read correctly on the banner thread he donated $600??? Damn...we should be more appreciative towards him for as much shit this board has given him over the years.

L.A. Chieffan 10-08-2012 04:30 PM

Someone posted one in the main banner thread when I originally asked about the idea.
It's plausible if the committee of "the movement" wants to spend our money on that, but I think they are awaiting the Raiders game.

It'd be funny if we could get on the news down there similar as to how we were able to do so here. Problem is ....it's in Tampa. Tampa fans would just laugh at us ...and it would be funny, but given the amount of funds, it's best to do this at Arrowhead where 50k + Chiefs fans can see it, as opposed to 500-1000 Chiefs fans.

The media isn't going to be filing in to cover two shitty teams in a cripple fight. Nobody from Tampa outside of some Chiefs fans that happen to be from Tampa will care (Tampa people don't even care about the Bucs).

If Dallas Cowboy fans were flying banners over other stadiums, (NY for example) saying, "Jones rid of Romo NOW!" --- don't you think the media would go apeshit with that?

Granted, these are large market teams, but still...

I think flying over an opposing stadium is a big statement. (Tampa may not be the best place to do it, but we have momentum and traction right now. We are all over the news at the moment and by the time we get around to a large market away game, ESPN may be blowing Tebow all over again.)

It's not like the movement hasn't raise the money for it.
