"I have never heard any place so loud in my life"

This is a direct quote from a Raider fan friend of mine referring to the end of the game. This is a man who I have sat front and center at rage against the machine, Janes addiction, and numerous 311 concerts.

Another word he used was "deafening"

So for all of you that said Arrowhead is lacking in loud, I just thought you would enjoy hearing that.

Have you ever been to a Jayhawks BB game at AFH?

Sure-Oz 11-07-2005 04:42 PM

the crowd was awesome during that game i mut admit

Dunit35 11-07-2005 04:42 PM

This was only my second game to be at, but I thought this was louder than the last game I went too, especially when LJ was running down the field for the TD, and when he put it in for the win.

I can never tell how loud it is because during those times I'm screaming at the top of my lungs myself.

IMO it wasn't all that loud yesterday. It was louder at the Redskins game.

Hammock Parties 11-07-2005 04:57 PM

The defense gave the crowd something to cheer about yesterday. They were absolutely amazing for 3 quarters.

redfan 11-07-2005 05:00 PM

I had my sis' hubby there (from Minne--Vikes fan)and he thought it was so loud he had to put wadded up napkins in his ears. He'd never seen an NFL game played outside like its supposed to be. Arrowhead > Metrodome in loudness.

NO DOMES!!!!!

ferrarispider95 11-07-2005 05:02 PM

It was loud, I have heard some louder games in the past, not this year though. Some of those MNF against the donkeys were loud as sh*t.

Agreed,it had it's moments but I've heard nothing in the last 6 years or so that even comes close to what Arrowhead was like in the mid 90's when DT and others were there.

DMAC 11-07-2005 05:08 PM

Its so fun to have raider fan friends these days

CarolinaChiefz 11-07-2005 05:14 PM

AFH is gonna be ROCKIN' this year, baby!!!

it's all perception...first timers are usually blown away, while old timers are used to it.

ExtremeChief 11-07-2005 05:28 PM

The loudest I've ever heard it was on Denver's final drive at the end of the game that Dante ran it back.

Those who say that are deaf from being their so many years so they will have to read your quote because they can't hear it.

Sully 11-07-2005 05:34 PM

I guess I never realize how loud it is during plays. My attention is elsewhere. I always listen to how loud it is in between, though, and yesterday was much like the mid nineties.
The only difference is that we as fans have gotten spoiled, and get loud when the teams get to the LOS, but it used to be loud during the opposing team's hudddle, as well, so they had trouble even hearing the playcall. Yesterday we were a littl ebetter at that, but typically it's quiet till the team gets to the LOS.

Seconded.
I've heard much louder, and I didn't really think this game was that loud.
Nonetheless, the fades got spooked a coupla times. Puzzies!

mike_b_284 11-07-2005 05:51 PM

I remember when it stayed loud the whole game (at least on D.)

It used to be loud before the game, remember when the word RUMBLE flashed on the jumbotron and 70,000 + would start banging on the chairs.Arrowhead literally shook in those days and that was before the kick-off.

Yeah...
Hell, I wish they'd still play Kashmir during the starting lineup announcements, that always gave me chills.

I get that too! It's my personal loudness meter. It didn't happen during this game.

You remember the picture I posted of the giant Donkey fan sitting in front of me with his fingers in his ears?

Do they still do the We Will Rock You from Cheers before the games? That was good to get the crowd fired up. I regrettably haven't been to Arrowhead for about 10 yrs so I don't know what they're doing these days. I saw the Vikes play Green Bay in the Metrodome a couple years ago, it was pretty damn loud in there, the roof definitely helps hold the sound in.

irishjayhawk 11-07-2005 07:01 PM

Once we consistantly make the playoffs, perhaps even win a couple :P, the stadium will regain it's mid-90s stature.

Nope.

I did notice yesterday though that during some of the defensive stands they went back to playing Kid Rock's Bawitdaba,I don't recall hearing that the last couple of seasons.

Well that sucks, that was my favorite part of the game!

I don't know how you heard any music, CBS does a terrible job translating the sights & sounds of the stadium to TV. I think the announcers should have to do the game from the sidelines.

Or maybe my TV sucks.
