No "we should get Kaepernick" thread?
Are we really that emotionally spent that no one would even make a "we should go after Kaepernick" thread after tonight? I mean...say the 9'ers go to the SB this year with Alex Smith as their QB, maybe they'd give Kaepernick up. He's gotta be better than any of the QB's in this draft. Maybe we could spend our #1 pick on something more valuable. I know, I know, no more taking other team's QB's. He'd be the next Matt Flynn. yada yada yada.

Geno or bust...
|
Sad when 1 good game after showings where he couldn't even hand the ball off makes people wet.
|
1983.
No. No no no no no. **** no. No. |
|
I know. I'm not even saying we should go after him. I'm just saying any other time there would be a thread on here after his first completed pass. We as a board are emotionally broken.
|
I'm down for you all getting him.
|
Nobody else is the least bit suspicious that it took Jim Harbaugh to make Alex Smith not suck?
How do we know the same isn't true of Kaepernick? That he's good under a QB guru coach, but take that away from him and he'll crumble |
I'd love to have him but I don't think there's any way Harbaugh is going to let him get away. We could easily have Smith but not Kaepernick.
|
#1 or 2 overall pick for a guy that played one game. Sounds like a plan. I am not saying he won't be a decent player but when you are on the right side of a blowout it becomes a lot easier to play loose. He had nothing to lose tonight going in, and by halftime he couldn't even lose the game. Having a franchise on your shoulders is something else entirely.

WE WANT GE NO
WE WANT GE NO WE WANT GE NO |
Good Lord, the willingness to accept others' sloppy seconds is deeply ingrained in the fan base of this team.
N-O. |
One game and its obvious he would be the best QB on the team.

The thought of acquiring other teams back-up QB's is like heroin for some of the fanbase JFC.
DRAFT A FRANCHISE QB FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. |
nooooope
|
One good game doesn't make a franchise QB. ESPN is just hyping this performance tonight for a story.
|
i don't want him at all...

What was Einstein's definition of insanity again?

No doubt in my mind Pioli would draft an ILB and trade the second round pick for Alex Smith. I watched the whole game last night and kapernick embarrased the bears "ballhawk" defense, 49ers wouldn't be shipping him off anytime soon. And everytime I see big armed Jason Cambell I see "upside", and he's black too. Could probably like run off tackle, or something.
|
they are not going to let him go, we have a better chance of getting Alex Smith..
|
This thread needs to go **** itself.

Kaepernic
See Flynn, Scott Mitchell, and probably others............ |

Harbaugh flirted with Manning and tried to replace Smith in the offseason. They know that Smith has a certain "Ceiling" and probably reached it last season. No way they let Kaepernick get away. |

Why do people still want Geno? The dude folded against any decent competition this year.
|

I thought that was clear... |
I'd take Kaepernick in a second.
THAT BEING SAID he's going to get every chance going forward to be their starter this year...he put a spark in that offense they haven't seen all year. The better question would be... should we get Alex Smith? and the answer to that? No. |

Geno Smith so far this season in 7 conference games: 2,289 yards, 65.9% completion, 23 TD, 5 INTs, 147.4 rating. RG3 in 9 conference games last season: 3,036 yards, 68.8% completion, 23 TDs, 6 INTs, 179.48 rating. Geno Smith vs ranked opponents this season: 1,387 yards, 72.5% completion, 17 TDs, 4 INTs, 180.1 rating. RG3 vs ranked opponents last season: 1,609 yards, 69% completion, 15 TDs, 3 INTs, 194.8 rating. |
I wanted him when he came out, but now I want Geno!

Is it Geno's fault his team plays zero defense? He scored 48 v Texas, 38 v TCU, 34 v OSU, 49 vs OU. Now if you want to say he stunk vs K-State & Texas Tech, 14 points vs each, fine. But to say folded against any decent competition this year is just wrong. |
I found myself thinking last night, "welcome to kc, alex smith."

One more week where he flashes like he did against the...let me remind you...VAUNTED BEARS DEFENSE...Smith is getting Wally Pipp'd. And as for this little personal vendetta you're having against me, I find it entertaining. So keep up the good work :thumb: |

Kaepernick most certainly has "it"...proved it last night against a top tier defense.
One game, sure...but sometimes you can just tell. That being said, he is absolutely, 100% off the block. The 49ers wouldn't take 2 firsts for him after that game. Alex Smith was a stopgap, and they knew that. Kaepernick has QBotF potential. |

You know I was thinking damn he looks good as well but then my brain kicked in.
A performance or two from a surprise back up never tells the true story til their put under a microscope after a sufficient amount of time/games. Chiefs fans over the yrs know this story by heart. Thats why you dont jump the gun and sign him/back up to a huge contract. Matt Cassel ... Became the fifth player in NFL history to have back-to-back 400-yard passing games with a 415-yard performance against the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 23 after a 400-yard performance against the New York Jets on Nov. 13 ... Made his first career start at the New York Jets on Sept. 14 ... Posted a career-high passer rating of 136.3 while throwing for three touchdown passes in the Patriots' 41-7 victory over the Broncos on Oct. 20 ... His 136.3 passer rating against the Broncos ranks as the 10th best mark by a Patriots quarterback since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Painful to read I know. The man became a gazillionaire all on account of his first few starts. |
ok but Matt Cassel never passed the eye test
be honest did Kaepernick pass your eye test last night? Because the dude certainly passed mine. Throws a beautiful deep ball, drives through every pass, and I saw him carry out a great play fake for a score as well. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT HE CAN RUN LIKE CUNNINGHAM |
Maybe it's just that people have learned by now not to take other teams leftovers because of a good game or two.
|
With no consensus #1 QB this year, we will probably see a lot more of the top guys in post-season evaluations. No skipping combine, Senior Bowl, East-West game, etc.
Should be more interesting than usual. |

The Cards gave big money to Kolb as well.... QB driven and QB needy league. Some team will always be ready and willing to hand out big money to somone elses backup. |
Instead of going after the QB, why don't they go after the the coach who turned it around for Smith and developed Kaepernick??
I was suggesting Geep Chryst last year after Haley was fired. At the very least, he could be an OC. |
Quote:
|
Kapernick just signed a 4-year, $5 mil contract. Thats super-cheap insurance against Alex Smith going down. 9ers are sitting pretty at QB with a quality backup that don't cost nothin.' They'd ask for a helluva lot to give that up.
|
Any talk about Kaepernick is a moot point. Outside of the fact that we should know by know getting other team's QBs doesnt work, he will be their starter soon enough (if not next week).
So does anybody want to deal for Alex Smith? Yeah I didn't think so. |

And even without comparing him to RG3, putting up those numbers against ranked opponents and conference opponents is impressive. To your original point that he folded against good competition is just completely wrong. Check the stats. |

Geno has the absolute WORST footwork I've ever seen in a 1st round prospect and if I had to compare him to anyone it'd be Ryan Leaf... |
No chance 49ers give him up. I would say we have a better chance to end up with Smith going by the history of this organization.
|
I dont even have to read this thread and I already know the content...
This is why we are the Chiefs and why we will never win a superbowl.... Fans just dont want "it".... |
