Who is mentally tougher?
One of the biggest transition for a College QB is the mental toughness it takes to succeed to the NFL.
which draftee is 'mentally tougher'? who handles defense pressure better? who handles adversity better? who handles leadership issues etc? who handles off-the-field issues best? *insert whatever mental discipline and toughness issues here* |
what are we basing this on?

Did any of them mindrape the other team so hard that every female member of their student body became impregnated? No? Then they're all just varying degrees of mental pussy. The poll is flawed.

I don't know how any of us could realistically know the answer to this one. |
Wilson was put in more of a difficult situation and seemed to respond well.
|
With everything he went through his senior season and still came out as one of the top quarterbacks. It has to be Wilson. Ill go on record saying that kid is going to be good in the nfl barring injuries

I have seen him stand in the pocket, looking right down the barrel, knowing he was going to take a big hit and complete the pass over and over. He handled the change at HC with all that drama that came with the Petrino fiasco, and still played at a high level inspite of his new HC incompetence. He has taken blame for bad play when it was not all on him. I have seen him verbally command more of his team and get it. I don't know of any off the field issues. |
good god.

Oh Fun! Another Poll about Geno Smith? I choose Geno...again...everytime

I would say this is a pretty difficult aspect to assess given our limited perspective.
|
Geno's my favorite QB in the draft, but that's not the question.
The only guy who really got put through the fire this season was Wilson. Arkansas had a hellish 9 months and Wilson got stronger as the year progressed. Right now, as we speak, Wilson has deeper callouses because of more labor in this regard. |
Haha somebody voted Barkley.

1. Wilson
2. Barkley 3. Smith 4. Bray (if you consider smashing someone's windshield to be an acceptable manner in which to handle off field incidents). |

Did the tarp win? lol |
Wilson, he got nailed time and time again but kept coming back against sec defenses. He had nothing for a O-line.

Sorry I thought you knew I was just messin around because I know you like Barkley from other arguments we have had on here in the past. I wasn't trying to get personal but I see that you have decided to go there and show how weak you are to have to go to insults immediately and then continue. |
He slapped a piece of tarp?
Seriously? Are you ****ing serious? Are you jokers ****ing kidding me? He slapped a piece of tarp when his team was getting blown out, and that means he can't handle adversity? Good. ****ing. Christ. |

What is the gauge of mental toughness?

How many players slam their helmets to the grounds or show emotion when they make a mistake or something bad happens for whatever reason. You just don't want to see it happening very often or then you might be concerned about his control of his emotions. |

Yep, gets frustrated when things don't go his way, too big of a baby. No thanks. |
Chiefs fans literally look at every negative thing they can about a QB to justify not drafting him.
Craziest shit. |
Look, you can make a very convincing argument that Tyler Wilson is the more mentally tough QB.
He's had injuries. The big hits in games. The outside pressure surrounding the coaching. He's had a much longer list of things challenging him to begin the season and has come out of it looking pretty good. But don't give me this bullshit that Geno slapping a tarp shows he lacks any degree of mental toughness. Find me some other piece of evidence, but tarp? **** that. |

I was seriously looking forward to your responses about Geno concerning each of the points in the OP. I know you have been leading the Geno charge so I am sure you have watched a lot of video on him as well as games and such. Your input on those points would be great without having to dig through the Geno thread. |

However, he doesn't take it out on his teammates, he takes it out on himself. He's not Jay Culter or Phillip Rivers. |

Nick Jacobs @Jacobs71
Crossing my fingers @NFLosophy checks out Tyler Wilson next. Toughest QB I've watched play. |

I like Geno in the mental toughness department. He has great pocket presence and knows whats going on around him. I had to vote for Wilson though. I think its clear that he isn't worried about the chaos around him as he lets go ball after ball at the last absolute moment so he can take a big hit in the pocket.
