we are going to draft Geno Smith

We are.

It's the only ****ing way we can get value out of the pick.

We will hold him hostage and make someone pay for him.

It's the only way we can get value.

He will be ours, and we will let him go.

Value? He's widely considered to be a reach anywhere before Pick 15 or 20. If you want value, you take Joeckel or Sharrif Floyd and make them starters for the next decade.

ToxSocks 02-27-2013 05:08 PM

Like i said in another thread, if we are able to sign a LT and if the Compensation for Alex is a SWAP of 2nd's, then yes, drafting Geno is still a possibility....otherwise....Geno will be starting for Oakland next season.

**** off. Seriously, **** off. Replacing your LT with another LT isn't value.

I, for one, am glad that we have a 49'ers fan here telling us about our own team. No one knows the KC Chiefs like a 9ers fan.

The Franchise 02-27-2013 05:09 PM

I posted this in another thread.....

I would say that there is a 5-10% chance that the Chiefs would still draft Geno.....and this is the ONLY way that I think it goes down.

1. Geno tears up his pro day and by the time the draft rolls around......he's widely viewed as the #1 overall player.
2. The Chiefs don't extend Alex Smith....instead wanting him to prove he can win under his current contract (2 years left)
3. They aren't wowed by any offers from teams wanting to trade up.
4. They think that they can win now with the current roster, plus any FAs signed (including Albert and Bowe).

All of that would have to happen for them to draft Geno at #1.

Ebolapox 02-27-2013 05:10 PM

Yeah lol. This.

I don't think any team is going to spend there first two picks on QBs.

Only way this happens is if the Smith trade was for a swap of 2nds

Who are you going to trade him to? This isn't Peyton Manning you're talking about. This is a bad year for QB's and if a team can't get Geno, they'll simply take Glennon or Manuel and be content with either of those guys. What you're proposing is essentially the equivalent of putting a gun to your own head after catching your wife in bed with another man. Its an idle threat that is meaningless.

Ace Gunner 02-27-2013 05:20 PM

Imo warts abound, Geno Smith is the BPA @one. I expect the Chiefs will draft Geno and play Alex until Geno is ready.

Yep, we will use the #1 and the #34 for Geno and Alex Smith, who will start for a year, maybe two.

silver5liter 02-27-2013 05:24 PM

Well if history of Alex tells us anything. He breaks as much as brodie, might as well have a back up

'Hamas' Jenkins 02-27-2013 05:24 PM

We're going to spin our wheels in a futile attempt to deal, the entire league will call our bluff, and we'll draft Joeckel #1 overall after letting Albert leave, thus ensuring that we will have taken the first pick in the draft, the second in the second, another second or third pick and turned it in to a nearly 30 year old game manager and a left tackle when we already had a 30 year old backup and a left tackle.

Only the Chiefs could do this. Only the Chiefs.

as soon as they pick geno with plans to trade him we RUSH THE WAR ROOM and DISCONNECT ALL THE PHONES. We CONFISCATE all their cell phones and computers until the draft is over.

I have to hold out hope.....it's the only speck left in my heart that I have for this team.

I have to believe that trading a 2nd round pick for Alex Smith and using your 1st on the future of this franchise is their crazy way of fixing the #1 problem from this team last year.

And I'll hold onto that....until they let Albert go and they draft Joeckel.....and then I'll be completely empty inside.

At this point the only thing that we can realistically hope for is that the Jaguars either draft Geno or trade the pick.

If Geno goes to the Raiders, this place will melt down even more than it has today, and I'll melt down too.

okcchief 02-27-2013 06:19 PM

The worst thing is the second pick is gone so you can't take a guy to develop there. Quinn will have no competition. I mean Cassel will have no competition. Oh, I mean Smith will have no competition. You'll have to excuse me I can't tell these guys apart.

Orton>Alex Smith

Hog's Gone Fishin 02-27-2013 07:40 PM

I can't believe how stuped you people are. Alex Smith instantly makes us a contender. Geno Smith is the next Jamarcus Russel. I hope like hell the Raiders draft him , that would be hysterical. Reid made the correct move. Next he needs to sign Albert and if they want to draft a playmaker like Patterson or Austin we'd be rockin and rollin.

For what exactly? Worst trade of the century?

I don't know/care about Geno, but this plan:

A) giving the 34th overall pick (and more?) and paying 8.5 million for a guy who is 29 and has Cassel numbers, but more fumbles and less 300 yard games

B) letting Albert go, and using the 1st round, #1 overall pick to get a guy who MIGHT be a replacement......a tackle

C) so basically you wate your 1st, 2nd and a mid round pick next year to not add one thing to the team

so that we have a chance to go 8-8 for a couple seasons?

That's the plan you support?

It's not about numbers. It's about wins. Steelers were going deeper in the playoffs when Ben had Alex Smith stats.
