Is Aqib Talib the best DB in the NFL history?
Been watching a ton of NFL this season and there really doesn't seem to be a better NFL defensive secondary player than Aqib Talib.
Wish we could get our hands on him. |
He's still a ****ing idiot.
|
Nah, he sucks dick.

And from what I saw today no one is at the same level. |

love the Sherman comparison.

Probably Sherman.
I don't know what Revis has done since the injury, but if he's good to go, he's probably still on top. |

Well, true. Does what Sherman did today count? |
Cool so you do what ESPN does and you fall in love with players after a game or two... That's sweet.

Cornerback has to be the most pressure filled position in all of sport. It's amazing what these guys do. |
Sherman has done it for exactly one season...lets not act like he's some 10 yr. All Pro every year some sort of vet.

No, he isn't he best. That doesn't take anything away from him, though. He's damn good. I wish we had him.

To the Chiefs, I think he would fit in amazingly well in the Sutton scheme. But you wont get me to tell you of which he would start over. I have too much respect for the job that Flowers, and Sean Smith have done. And by the way. Im not detracting from Talib. I just know how it is to support a player from a college team you liked. I think Talib has all the talent in the world, always has. I thought this was an educational friendly football discussion, not whether or not I would take him. hell, ANYONE COULD OF HAD HIM. No one made him an offer. |

Sherman has been a beast this going on his 3rd year. He was a complete menace in 2011, just last year, he destroyed everyone he faced. This year, more of the same. just because ESPN wasn't talking about him in 2011. People knew about him. |
Oh ok....TWO years....

I would bet he'll be in the 8-9 per with a multi year deal once next year begins. It's hard to make the Joe Haden comparison with the Brown never playing in primetime. But it should be interesting going forward. |
Look who he's playing around and the scheme...think he's the same player if he's in Jacksonville?
He's good but people need to chill out... |

Bills, and Stevie Johnson, vs Joe Haden..... Joe Haden absolutely made Aj Green irrelevant today...... |

Both Browner, Earl Thomas, and Richard Sherman all came in within one year of each other. Earl being in the 2010 draft, Sherman in the 5th round of 2011, and Browner signed from Canada. That's a good point..... |

I pull for them over Cinci. |
Only if he throws another Coon-O-Ween party....million dollar talent....two cent brain...which means he should self destruct soon.

Im a KU fan and everything but Sherman is quite noticeably better than Talib. There is probably a handful of CBs right now better than Talib bit he certainly has came a long way and risen to the top.
|
Talib still on the herb wagon?
|
I'd say he's playing the best ball of his career for sure. Talib is definitely in the mix as the best cover corner in the league, IMO.
|
Creepy beaker obsession is creepy
|
How deep do you think the Yankees will go in the playoffs this year?
|
Talib's a good corner, especially in press man, but he's not the best in the NFL. Sherman, Peterson and Revis (when he's healthy) are probably the top three.
|
wasnt Talib sitting on the open market this offseason and nobody wanted him so he upped for 1 year?
lol |
Thanks for the opinions everyone. Very interesting to see how this guy ranks in light of what we witnessed last night.
Incredible one way or another. |
Talib certainly has upped his game, but he's still a notch below Sherman and Revis.

Stop, guys.
Stop, or he and his mom will shoot. |
Throw Patrick Peterson in the argument as well.
|
Talib is very, very good. But he's not the best CB in the league. At least not yet. And what is the deal with him introducing himself as from north Dallas something? :cuss:
|
He dominated Julio Jones. Therefore Big 12 > SEC. /SaulIdiot
|
I think he's top 5, certainly, but would definitely take Sherman and, if healthy, Revis over him, not much doubt about it.

Not all of that was on Talib. Not like Talib had him the whole game. In fact, Talib did NOT have him on the long bomb down the left sideline during the final drive. That was Dennard/McCourty. Looked to me like Talib handled him great WHEN he was on him. |

Saul is a moron who obviously didn't watch the game or see Julio's 50 yarder late was not even against Talib. Don't bother explaining details to him. |

Yes, I'm biased because Sherman is my favorite player in the league right now, but it's also true. Notice how the only people disagreeing are the two dumbest KU homers on this website. |

What is so hard to understand about "when Talib was on him, he pretty much completely shut him down"? |
I have a question. Can you claim guys are sec guys when in college their schools were BIG 12 GUYS?
Blaine Gabbert and Tannenhil were both in the Big 12 when they were in college..... |
Quote:
How is that any different than me liking Alex Smith? lol |

When speaking of the Big 12 Tannehil makes the conference look good. Gabbert makes you feel embarrassed but you have to claim both yes. |

The SEC is loaded with programs that put QBs in the NFL. Those programs include Mizzou and aTm. The Big 12 has never produced even an average NFL QB. Steve Balboni thinks that's an embarrassment. |

Off Topic, but can you imagine how good Tommy Frazier would of been had he came out in this era? I was trying to think of a good big 12 qb. You made a good point, although, I don't necessarily agree with your logic, I can see your point |
