208 and 25% bf. According to my scale.
|
230 on the dot. Embarrassing year, put on 10lbs when I thought it'd be the year I would get under 200.
Gotta put it behind me and get back on track again. |
I'm 298 & 6' tall.
|
280. Was 220ish around mid-07, then an internship last summer destroyed me & I haven't recovered.
I'd like to get back to 220 (or, ya know, lower), but don't need any prizes or whatnot. But I'm in. One of my new years resolutions is to stop drinking pop altogether. Did it a few years ago & it really helped lose weight & made me feel pretty good for the most part. |
48 years old, 6'2", 310#, Shrinking, two bad knees and a bad back. I need tp lose. Consider me in.
|
I'm at 220. That's 16 below my last weight loss start weight but not at my goal of 200, which might be unobtainable without severe dieting and exercise. I'll be glad to get to 207.
|
I'm in. I'm a soft 167 right now. Gained 25 pounds in the last 10 months after 2-3 good years. I'm a 5'6" chode

if anyone is into fitness/nutrition magazines, there's a pretty good New Years sale on http://www.discountmags.com/newyears?SSAID=361470
I like reading Men's Health and Men's Fitness so I got those two at a decent discount. You can find the same deal for Men's Fitness every now and then, but Men's Health I can never find this cheap. |
190.
Need to dump around 15lbs. It's going to be a long 15lbs though. I'm not trying to shed through them. More focused on getting back into my HS athletic shape with a bit more muscle. |
Goodbye Beer. It was nice knowing you.
Back to vodka. |
280.4 pounds.
I am in. Have to head to the store later on to stock up on low-carb/non-wheat stuff. |
First workout of the year, done.

I was 240 this time last year |
Im in at 254, lost 12 lbs last year, only 1 lb per month. At that rate it will take me damn near 4 years to get to where I want to be. The only good thing is the weight gain stopped, now I need to get it down. The main thing I lack is exercise, walking an hour a day would help me alot. Also less Junk Food Binges and finding healthier easy to make food.
|
Yeah, I'm down about 20-30 from this time last year, but I was down about 50 at one point, so that's lame.
This time I'll make sure I don't start going out with a girl and stop giving a **** about dieting because of her. |
Do we have to quit drinking beer?

One thing I've learned for sure is that there is ALWAYS "stuff" that will cause you to stop going down the path of losing weight. It's going to happen. You can choose to let that "stuff" take you off the path or stay on your path. Free will and all that other "stuff" that makes life grand. |
261 would like to reach 235-240.

Then for a lot of people going out to eat on dates takes a toll. |
I'm 5'9 198lbs(I turn 40 in July). Would like to drop 10-15, but more importantly, I'd just like to be in better physical shape. I really do need some dietary guidance. Hoping you guys can help.
Lets do this! |

The fiber will help. Eggs. Oatmeal. Protein powder for drink mixes as meal substitutes. |
Here's a very serious question: Are there some legitimate healthy/low cal fast food options out there? My job schedule is such that I can't always eat healthy at home.
|
Not really.
Cook meals in advance. Bake a bunch of chicken/fish and reheat it later. |

Also, I've actually heard decent things about a few things from panda express and Chipotle actually uses good ingredients if you can control yourself when telling them what to put in a bowl. |

I used a homemade low fat/high fiber diet to lose my 84 lbs. I made the concoction on the weekends and froze it. Thawed it our during the week as needed. Developed some quick and easy fresh meals (2 mintues or less) "meals" that kept me on track. Kept healthy snacks on hand at all times. It takes some planning but its doable. |
215. was 240 at the beginning of 2011 looking to hit 170 by next year

I'm in this year. 6'2" and 272. I'm sure I'm at 98% body fat, so I need to get in better shape as well as lose the weight. The ultimate goal is to get to around 190.

Count me in. 5'10" 222. Like to get to 175ish eventually. |
So, for those of you who have successfully lost weight by changing your diet, what have been the most critical changes?
I've been exercising on average of 45 minutes a day since Dec 1. Now, I need to start eating better. I need some help. |

Other than that, just a caloric defecit while staying away from soda and junk food. |

I've been doing weight training 5 days a week with my neighbors for the last 3 months or so and plan to continue on with that and then keep improving my diet.
It hasn't really impacted me as far as losing weight because I have been definately gaining muscle, but I think I am to the point now that the initial muscle gains are going to start to level off after the initial quick gains of lifting routinely for the first time ever, so I think if I can keep with it the next three months should really be the start of melting off some flubber. The last month or two or two have been a higher rep workout, which I think they got from the body for life system, but I think the plan is to start alternating a week of low rep higher weights with the higher rep as well just to keep things fresh. One thing that I was encouraged by was the holiday eating. I did not keep my eating in check at all and let it be my last hurrah before buckling down for some more strict dieting with my workout buddies. The encouraging part of it was that even with at least 10 gluttonous meals since Thanksgiving holiday time I haven't gained any weight, I assume because of my increased metaoblism, and if anything have lost about a pound in that timeframe. My reported weight of 244 is my absolute bottom wieght right now, which is stark naked in the morning after using the restroom and eating and drinking nothing. So I know each time I can get the scale to tell me something lower than that weight is a good sign. I've been using myfitnesspal.com to track my calories....anyone else use it at all? If so, I'd be open to adding you as a friend there to call me out if I stop showing up there for too long or let my intake go to shit. |
Back on the no carb grind.
I think I'm hitting ketosis right now because I'm going through that fuzz that you get when you first hit it. It sucks, but oh well. I made 3 eggs with sausage and cheese for breakfast and I'm having some Crystal Light. The eggs were the best I've had in a while, but I'm sure within a week I'll be ****ing sick of eggs. Clay, if you read this, do you have those pizza recipes handy or anything else that is very low or no carb? Thanks brah. |
I haven't read all the posts on this subject, so forgive me if someone's already brought this up. MEDIFAST. I used Medifast products for only 3 months two years ago (November 1 - February1) and went from 248 pounds down to 193 in that period. Medifast is the meal plan part of the Take Shape For Life program. The meal plan costs $300 a month, but it's all you eat other than one small lean meat and green vegetablt meal a day. That can include a grilled chicken salad you can purchase at any fast food restaurant. You eat 5 Medifast "meals" each day, in addition to the lean and green meals. Their meals are small in portion, but are soy-based, which makes you feel fuller than what you actually are. If you are serious about some quick weight loss, I couldn't imagine a better program to get on that Medifast. It was developed by doctors, is 100% safe and as you can tell works relatively fast.
P.S. - I didn't exercise once during the three months I lost weight! But as part of maintaining the weight loss for the long term, exercise is definitely recommended. Hope this may help some of you. |

There is no magic formula other than what you already know. I didn't exercise 1 minute the last year and lost 84 lbs. Eat low fat, low calorie, high fiber meals. Portion control Don't overdue and limit sweets and high calorie items like chips and pizza. Exercise 2-3 times a week for 20 mintues each. I came up with an orginal plan modified from the Weight Watchers point system. Or at least based on the science of their plan. Just used the principles above and created meals that worked for me. |

Had a thought today after talking with my workout buddies.
They are starting their weightloss goal tracking today as well, and were doing the initial weigh-in after the workout, and also made sure not to do their morning restroom visit until afterward as well, so that they would weigh as much as possible :) How many of your reported weights above are your daily flux max, and how many are yours are the lowest? For my 244, that is easily the lightest I could weigh in at. I should have asked my buddies if they were going to make sure and put on some boots and a few extra layers of clothes as well. |

I did make small changes. Like cut back on the beer and ate moderate amounts of the things I love. Not finishing your plate or going back for seconds. Surprisingly, eating on a smaller plate and with smaller forks works wonders. I cannot recommend avoiding the scale enough. Instead, invest in a tape measure and write down your measurements. You will see improvement in this area much quicker and it's less of a motivation destroyer than working out and cutting back like crazy only to see the scale budge 2 pounds. |
OK the hollidays are done, time to get with it for me! Though I could use a workout/walking buddy, that would help for sure.
|
I'm in. Will weigh in tomorrow morning. Really, really not looking forward to it. Embarrassingly bad from where I was the first time around with this thread. Started traveling a lot for the job this past year and have gained a lot of weight. Every time I start thinking about it (basically every time I see myself in the mirror without a shirt on), I get this self-loathing thing going, then comfort eat.
It won't be easy. I have some tough dietary restrictions for reasons I don't care to go into, and I have this damn persistent allergy cough that prevents me from exercising with any vigor. If I can get going for a couple straight weeks, I should be set for a while. It's the first part that's so hard for me. |
