El Jefe 08-20-2012 07:32 AM

My mom is in very rough shape.

Any prayers and thoughts would be appreciated. She had to have the squad pick her up last night, and she is in immense pain. They tested her and thought they had some idea of what was going on, so they sent her home. Well my dad had to call the squad again early this morning because she was in horrible shape, he couldn't even get her to the car. Her oxygen level is at a dangerously low level too.

I know some people don't like me, and that's fine, but please don't post any hate in this thread. I love my mom to death and things took a sudden turn that no one saw coming, and I pray something is figured out.

bevischief 08-20-2012 07:37 AM

No idea, she has been battling numerous different health issues over the years. This came out of no where. The doctors have been running all sorts of tests, and haven't been able to find anything. They had her on oxygen for a few hours and she was able to generate enough on her own. Then it dipped down again, she is on a downward spiral I hope the doctors can stop. We are sitting with a crap load of unanswered questions, but hopefully the continuous tests they are running will yield something for us.

Canofbier 08-20-2012 08:26 AM

Sorry to hear it. I hope things can turn around and she comes out of this as healthy as ever.

Luke Warm 08-20-2012 09:17 AM

Very sorry. Not familiar with your situation but it obviously isn't good at the moment so prayers are definitely sent your familys way. Be strong.

I'm not sure what's going on. They "think" she is battling a serious infection of some sort. They have been pumping her full of dilaudid and just running tests. Her oxygen levels are all out of sorts, and she is almost incapable of even interacting. It's very scary, the doctors seem to be scared to pull the trigger on a diagnosis, but they seem to think it is very serious and continue running tests and talking with my dad.

Lumpy 08-20-2012 11:37 AM

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. :( Hopefully her doctors will find out something soon!

I'll keep her and your family in my thoughts.

SuperChief 08-20-2012 11:49 AM

Good vibes on the way, man. Stay strong.

Well I would hope they pump her full of more than a pain med if they think she has a serious infection, even if they're not sure what kind of infection...Is her white blood cell count high? Why wouldn't they be hitting her up with some broad-spectrum antibiotics if they think she has an infection?

At any rate, thoughts are being sent to you and your mom...Hang tough, my friend.

Bwana 08-20-2012 12:23 PM

Done, all my best to her and your family.

Yes, her white blood cell count is high. I have been wondering many of the things you have mentioned. They have run a gammit of tests on her, her spinal tap and CT scan looked good, so any positive news is good news.

38yrsfan 08-20-2012 03:13 PM

So sorry for to hear about this, prayers and hopes for your mom.

Buehler445 08-20-2012 03:24 PM

Sorry to hear this bud. I spent all weekend with my Mom and it further reinforces the fact that I can't handle losing my parents.

Al Czervik 08-20-2012 04:07 PM

Prayers being sent for your mom and family...
Peace

El Jefe 08-21-2012 02:07 PM

Update: She is getting worse, they have not been able to find a definitive cause. They believe it is an infection due to her white blood cell count, they have not ruled out menigitis. They have quarantined her and you have to wear a mask when you visit, but the outlook has been grim.

The Franchise 08-21-2012 02:10 PM

Sorry to hear that.

Viral Meningitis is in an outbreak here right now. I know of at least 6 people who have it and are in the hospital because of it.

That's crazy man. They still haven't diagnosed her, but apparently they currently have 8 people in the hospital with it. Hopefully she doesn't have it, but who knows.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes and prayers, I really truly appreciate it!

El Jefe 08-27-2012 06:56 AM

Well, not to keep bumping this thread, but I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who were praying and sending out good vibes. They finally released her diagnosis: She has bacterial meningitis of the brain and nasal cavities. Supposedly they said she was lucky she came in so quickly or she would have had brain damage. They are going to keep her for a few more days. They said it's one of the worst cases they have seen recently. She has two pick (sp) lines in and a central line in. She looks god awful. They said when she returns home she will have to do so with a home health care nurse. She will keep her pick (sp) lines in for 5-6 more weeks as she will have to have her antiobiotics administered daily by her HHCN. I feel really bad for her and my dad, it has been a long hard week and a half and there are still some bumps to come.

Thanks again, for the good thoughts CP family. I won't bump it again, unless something bad happens.

May she have a full and speedy recovery.

ChiTown 08-27-2012 08:37 AM

Best to your Mom. We'll keep up our end of the deal, while she fights on.

Phobia 08-27-2012 09:50 AM

At least they have it figured out and she's going to pull through. That's a relief because I was a little worried. Continued prayers for her recovery though. Bump this thing all you need to. I want to know when she's back on her feet and feeling great.

That sucks man. Hopefully she has a speedy recovery.

I don't know what the hell is happening with the whole meningitis outbreak but that shit is crazy around here. They finally located the starting point at a daycare on the Air Force Base here. Luckily it's all been viral (as bacterial is way worse) but it's hit a bunch of people that I know (including my wife).

Buehler445 08-27-2012 10:17 AM

All the best bud. Hopefully she can make a decent recovery and have a lot of years left.

El Jefe 09-05-2012 10:06 AM

Well, I said I wouldn't bump this thread unless she is worse, and unfortunately that is where we are. They sent her home thinking she was better on saturday, sunday night she ended up back in the hospital in worse shape. She has been in for three days and no progress. If you could keep her in your thoughts even for a moment I would appreciate it.

It wasn't a great weekend. My family went down to Tennessee for a get-a-way so to speak. My wife and I convoyed with my sister in my dads van, and we ran over a reminent of a semi trucks splash guard in Kentucky and it punctured the gas tank. Fortunately we pulled behind him because I thought it was his, and we filed a police report and his insurance will cover it. We had to pay a $500 tow, we were stuck on the side of the road for 4 hours in 100 degree weather. My other sister and her husband were ahead of us, so they came back to wait with us. They have 5 kids, need I say more.

Then we find out my moms health is further deteriorating, and to top it off we have been slow down at the shop. It just hasn't been a good few weeks.

bevischief 09-05-2012 10:23 AM

Damn that does suck. Hopefully this turns it's way around here shortly.

Luke Warm 09-05-2012 01:49 PM

Sorry to hear, man. Will definitely say a prayer for you and your family. I hope things turn around also.

BoneKrusher 09-05-2012 01:59 PM

El Jefe 09-13-2012 12:11 PM

Well, my mom is finally home, but she isn't doing much better. Even worse my dad's health has taken a deep slide while has has stayed with my mom at the hospital this whole time. He has been to the doctor twice for chest pain (he has already had a massive heart attack we were lucky he made it through). Works been rough, can't seem to line up a couple good days in a row its always something. I'm in one of those rutts, someone whose on a hot streak post it up and give me some motivation LOL.

HemiEd 09-13-2012 12:49 PM

Hang tuff man, sometimes that is all you have going for you. Things will turn.

Every night, each family member goes around telling of someone they know for us all to pray for. You have our prayers and best wishes. Keep us updated with the progress.

El Jefe 10-03-2012 09:03 AM

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. I have an unfortunate update, she actually was taken back to the ER in very rough shape, she was re-admitted to the hospital this will be the 4th time within the last couple months. The doctors have diagnosed her with another severe diagnosis, and I am fearful of what may come. She is far too young to die, and I don't want to put the cart before the horse, but she is much worse than she was, and I didn't think that was possible. These health issues have stretched and stressed our family and our business out. Any positive thoughts would be appreciated.

BoneKrusher 10-03-2012 09:06 AM

sorry to here shes worse, i still have you and your Family in my prayers.
