I don't get out to golf much so I am not looking to spend a ton of money on them. Looking for spiked but under $50 and not those white and brown 50's looking shoes. One solid color preferably or tennis shoe look. Size 12

Just not having much luck and seeing these $200+ prices is irritating me.

Stinger 05-20-2008 01:47 AM

I have had very good service and found good prices found at http://www.tgw.com (The Golf Warehouse) online retailer

Be ghetto. Buy some sneaks from goodwill and pound roofing nails through the soles.

I just got an e-mail from them and apparently they are having a footwear sale...

HemiEd 05-20-2008 04:51 AM

I am kind of a golf shoe junkie. Just bought a great pair of Adidas walking shoes last Saturday, at "Sports Authority." I think it is a national chain, right? $70, but they had Nike's in your stated price range, several different choices.

They have one shoe that is black with the brown Nike swoosh. Not sure I like it though. Seems like all the white ones are not available in my size at all.

Play barefooted. It keeps you from overswinging.

Bingo. Found a nice affordable pair of Footjoys with favorable customer reviews.

Lets see how much this screws up my game since I am used to playing in sneakers. heh

I should reveal, for those not from KC, that Cargo Largo is an 'unclaimed freight' retailer. ie, their offerings are dictated by what falls off the truck. It's a big operation, and there's a chance they'll have some golf shoes for sale, but it's not like you can plop yourself down and ask for a specific make in a 10 1/2 D.

I've always had issues with golf shoes not fitting like other shoes, so I always try them on in person.

You could have checked out the Nike Outlet in The Legends. I got a pair of softball cleats at a Nike Outlet a few weeks ago for a steal

If your looking for a tennis shoe type.

smittysbar 05-20-2008 11:16 AM

I wear Nike SP6 II. Have three pair and love them. By far the most comfortable shoe I have worn. You can find them for 50 or so on eBay

here is what they look like.

Here is a action for a pair.

If you watch for them you can find them cheaper. You won't be disappointed. Trust me. I put a ton of rounds in a week.

Demonpenz 05-20-2008 11:16 AM

play it again sports

Here is the pair of comfortable walking shoesI just purchased.

Watch the mesh style shoes, though they are under warranty for 1 to 2 years, they almost always leak.

Yeah, they say right on the specs that they are not water proof. This is my first pair, feet felt great the whole round Sunday. My Footjoys, regular golf shoes, practically crippled me the week before, walking the same course.

I hear ya, nothing worse then a shit pair of spikes. Some companies are claiming their mesh styles are completely waterproof. But have yet to see a pair stay that way for over 3-4 months.

Yep, I knew that from a prior thread. You'd mentioned it before. Sounds like the `Underwriters-Outlet` in Independence (off 291) in the eighties.

If you were a good enough golfer, you wouldn't have to worry about that, get tee times later in the day after the dew has gotten off the grass will help also. :)

BIG_DADDY 05-20-2008 12:29 PM

As expensive as golf is and as mcuh time as you spend on your feet playing it I wouldn't spare expense on your shoes. I got some Nike's I liked a lot when I left my real shoes at home once. I think they were on sale at about $60

Hog's Gone Fishin 05-20-2008 12:33 PM

I just don't understand why more people don't wear rubber boots like I do. You know your balls gonna be in the water anyway!

Wanna play me? I don't have to call for a tee time anyhow.

I don't golf in the morning most of the time. With the weather we have had, waterproof is a necessity.

Where is this located?

take 70 to Noland, north on Noland to the top of the hill where there's a stoplight and a Sonic across the intersection on the left. Cargo Largo is right behind it, take the left and cross the train tracks to get into the parking lot.

Prepare for your next addition. Honestly it's amazing, I can be in St. Louis for months, come into town, arrange to meet my parents there, and I'll run into the same cousins and old friends shopping there. Can't imagine how often they shop there to make the law of averages fit that one.

My soon to be father in law teased me a few years ago for playing barefooted. I had taken off my shoes because they were irritating a recently sprained ankle. The ankle kept me from finishing the game....but there's nothing like the feeling of the grass between your toes (especially on the green...so soft).

I purchased my golf shoes at Smiley's Golf Course in Lenexa, KS. I don't remember how much they cost, but it was definitely under $50. I think they were having a sale at the time. I would definitely buy in person, or at least find the kind you want before you buy online. I had to go up a half size from what I buy in regular running shoes.
