Hollywood is bringing back 'The Lone Ranger' in 2012!
As my avatar suggests the Lone Ranger was a boyhood hero of mine.
Clayton Moore perhaps could never be dethroned as the best Lone Range EVER. Hokey as their episodes are I can still watch the old lone Ranger and Tonto galloping on Silver and Scout to help the oppressed. That said, for a few years now, I have had this idea that we needed a Hollywood remake that adults would enjoy too. One that would get a Batman treatment for a darker, edgier Lone Ranger. This Lone Ranger would shoot to kill, instead of just shooting the guns out of the bad guys' hand. I really hope that Hollywood will not cop out on this. Thoughts?.... Cast suggestions. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1210819/ http://cdn.fd.uproxx.com/wp-content/...nger-Tonto.jpg |
This is ****ing awesome.
I had a huge man crush on the Lone Ranger when I was a kid. I watched it religiously on BBC reruns. Can't ****ing wait. They better keep the original opening or I'll choke a bitch. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Td4RHvyAFsM?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Td4RHvyAFsM?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |

In this day and age how is Tonto going to be portrayed?
|
holy ****tarded idea, batman!
I wasn't aware that they showed the lone ranger in tehran... fascinating, I'd think it was too opulant and decadent according to shia law. |

Exclusive: First Look At The Lone Ranger! By Kellvin Chavez on September 09, 2009 68digg Jerry Bruckheimer recently said at the Licensing International Expo that development on "THE LONE RANGER" was going full steam ahead. Not much is really known about "THE LONE RANGER" project except that Johnny Depp is attached to play TONTO and no director has been officially hired yet. While promoting PUBLIC ENEMIES Depp told us, "We're still in the super-beginning stages so there's all kind of possibilities, but I feel like I have some good ideas for the characters that are interesting, that I don't think have been done before" What about the casting of The Lone Ranger? John Reid? Hollywood Elswhere was the first to start off the rumor that a "guy who hears reliable things" said that Matthew McConaughey is the leading candidate to be Depp's mask-wearing kemosabe. Though McConaughey hasn't headlined an action flick since the 2005 flop Sahara. We feel that casting McConaughey is a little too on the nose. Aaron Eckhart would be a solid choice. Anyway, LatinoReview.com was able to take a look at the first draft by Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio. What did we think? |

It shouldn't be that dark. It should be heroic.
Making The Lone Ranger too realistic would rip out what it is at it's core. It should be similar to the Zorro movies with Antonio Banderas. |
This is who needs to play The Lone Ranger. This guy and NOBODY ELSE.

This is great news. I always liked ol' Loney.
Always felt sorry for him, though. Never had a girlfriend. Never got a poke ... free or otherwise. Which is kinda strange when you take into account all the girlfolk he saved from rustlers and bandits and rogue injuns ... not to mention the tight, blue pants and the rather over-sized codpiece. I hope they keep the opening with the music and that awesome intro piece about his fiery horse with the speed of light and clouds of dust and stuff. That was awesome. FAX |

This should really be a TV show.
It would draw incredible ratings and be cheap as **** to produce. Too bad. |

Stephen Lang would be a good LR.. great character actor.
|
I lost interest the moment I read that Johnny Depp is slated to play Tonto.
|
I was thinking just the other day that it would be great if the TV people could produce a Western or two. Everything is crime solving nowadays. A good Western would be nice. Maybe one with an Indian tribe that is harboring space aliens, or something.

Rumor:
"Matthew McConaughey is the leading candidate to be Depp's mask-wearing kemosabe." |
xnay on the conaghey-mey.
Too metro. The Lone Ranger should be a man's man from the 50s. |

Actually GoChiefs, now that you mention Fillion, he's perfect. I can't think of anyone else. Seriously, no other person.
Hollywood will probably sell out to teenage girls and get that stupid asshole who played Kirk on the new Star Trek movie. Ten bucks says so. |
Wasn't one done called the Apple Dumpling Gang
it was just on TBS |
That's great news. Re-makes of old TV shows always turn out great.
|
OOH....OOH!!! michael bay can direct it and get shia lebouf to star in it as the LONE RANGER! **** yeah, hollyweird!
|
The single or lone ranger, so to speak?
|
"When I was with the Texas Rangers, I heard one of the guys masturbaiting in the outhouse next to mine, so we called him The Lone Ranger".

Trivia: Which company created the character of the Lone Ranger and still owns the rights to it?

He's the currently the only American leading man in Hollywood under the age of 40. Heath Legder would have been a good choice. Too bad. |
Oh, and there's no way Bruckheimer casts Nathan Fillion.
As great as he is on TV, producers rarely cast a mostly unknown television star in a mega-budget, big name property. |
Heath Ledger's skinny ass as the ****ing Lone Ranger?
Awful. The Lone Ranger should be 40 and manly, not 25 and cute. |

Watch. They'll hire Christian Bale. LMAO |

They will backstreet boy it up with some tween$.
That's what hollywood does. Not about the 'art' or the authenticity. Remakes almost always disappoint. |

You forgot music by Danny Elfman. |
This Chris Pine as Jack Ryan thing is an abortion.
He's 29 ****ing years old and he's going to play a guy who's supposed to be in his 40s? It was bad enough when Ben Affleck tried to do it. |

I thought Klinton Spilsbury already made the definitive Lone Ranger movie back in 1981??
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082648/ |
I loved that show when i was a kid. Used to watch LR and Cisco Kid all the time.
I fear however, that Hollywood is just going to f**k it up. |
I'm just surprised they're not casting Will Farrell as the Lone Ranger and Jack Black as Tonto and schticking it all up.

Do you think they will make him wear that gay little scarf or give him an updated outfit? Either way this movie will suck.

My choices (in order of slight preference):
1- Timothy Olyphant http://www.seat42f.com/images/storie...Olyphant-2.JPG 2- Sam Worthington http://thefilmstage.com/wp-content/u...00-590x393.jpg 3- Jeffrey Donovan http://www.miamiduiattorneyblog.com/...%20donovan.jpg 4- Nathan Fillion (as suggested before) http://spartanphoenix.files.wordpres...llion-ff02.jpg 5- Aaron Ekhart http://starsbase.com/wp-content/uplo...Eckhart-02.jpg |

Depp as Tonto and Clooney as the "Ranger." But with out luck they will go with a Black ranger like James West in the form of Will Smith in "the Wild Wild West." OhhhNooos!

My list of worst, possible Lone Ranger guys would have to include (in no particular order) ...
1. Robert Englund 2. Keanu Reeves 3. Leonardo Dicaprio 4. Vin Diesel 5. Kevin Spacey 6. Cillian Murphy 7. Jake Gyllenhaal 8. Elijah Wood (although, he would be great at hiding behind rocks) FAX |
