What's for Dinner During Playoffs?

I had some Scimeca's mild italian sausage in the freezer I needed to use, so today I'm making crock pot chili. Scimeca is a local KC company that makes wonderful sausage products. One pound of mild sausage, one pound of ground beef, can of... rotel, half a bottle of chili sauce, diced red onion, garlic, cilantro, coarse salt, fresh black pepper, dash of cinnamon, dash of dry mustard, dash of Louisiana hot sauce, dash of onion powder, packet of Williams Chili seasoning (my favorite). You brown up the sausage and beef first, drain it good, then let it crock for four or five hours. Serve in a bowl with tortilla chips, shredded cheddar cheese and a spoonful of sour creme on top. You can chop up some scallions for garnish if you dare. Here's a good recipe from Jimmy Fallon (of all people) that is similar to mine:

I have 8 racks of ribs out on the smoker. Along with that, baked beans, German potatoe salad, regular salad and hot apple pie to top it off.

TribalElder 01-20-2013 01:48 PM

Had some chicken boneless bits like the hereford house serves up and some fire ass Mexican dip spread. Refried beans with the jalapeņo in them is bombtastic. Broccoli florets, celery, and ranch dip. A nice spread and quite enjoyable

Scrapple and eggs, baby! I'll have breakfast whenever the hell I want to.

Canofbier 01-20-2013 03:54 PM

Decided to get one of those "Artisan Pizzas" from Dominos, the one with chicken and bacon. I'm on somewhat of a diet, but the whole thing is only about 1200 calories, so not too bad considering how little I've eaten for breakfast and lunch. All that chili and meat sounds pretty damned good, though.

Everyone knows there is only one time of day breakfast should be consumed. Late at night.

It's very different to American coffee.

It's light. We use saffron and Cardamon with it. Unlike the ones you get at middle eastern cafes here.

guitarmy21b 01-20-2013 05:07 PM

My homemade carne guisada served over my homemade mexican rice in a flour tortilla.

Take a couple pounds of beef stew meat, brown it in some beef broth...then add some cans of tomato paste, onions, red peppers, garlic, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, sriracha sauce, hot sauce, salt, pepper, a dash of habenero sauce. Let it cook for a few hours till the broth thickens into gravy. My favorite food ever, always a hit for anyone who tries it!

BlackHelicopters 01-20-2013 05:08 PM

Vodka. As always.

Lonewolf Ed 01-20-2013 05:14 PM

Pork tenderloin in a deep pan with a bottle of Sam Adams black lager, water, molasses over the meat, carrot, onion, and parsley in the liquid, and coarse black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, sea salt, thyme, oregano and English mustard powder to season the meat. Mashed taters and red cabbage on the side, perhaps a salad as well.

Marachuan beef noodles with MOAR CORN!

Nope. No beans in my chili. I also made baked tacos. You take the taco meat, blend in a small amount of refried beans, stuff the taco shells, spread cheddar cheese over them, bake them at 400 for about 10 minutes. Tasty stuff.

R8RFAN 01-20-2013 07:09 PM

When we have chili with no beans in it , it goes on Hot Dogs here

This chili goes over hot dogs very well. Usually I make a big batch, and freeze the extra in smaller containers that I can use for such things as chili dogs. Famous Dixon's chili here in KC is served with or without beans. And is sold dry, soupy or greasy. So there's lots of choices with chili. No one way is the definite way to do it. Just do what you like. I like it without beans. Sticks to the tortilla chips better that way.
