Who do you think will be our Day One starter at QB next season?
Poll to follow unless I intentionally throw it into the ground to avoid a turnover.

Cassel........(runs for cover)
|
Cassel.
|
I'm going to go full wickedson and say Geno Smith.
**** we have gotta have hope for something Posted via Mobile Device |

I think Matt Hasselbeck could be our guy, as a dark horse move. We draft a quarterback in the first round, release Cassel for p.r. reasons, and sign Hasselbeck to a 1 or 2 year contract to mentor the Arrowhead messiah.

Cassel

Tebow, huh?
You know, I hate to say this but it wouldn't even surprise me. That's sad, huh? |

Alternatively, Tony Romo's a darkhorse candidate if Dallas can't get him re-signed. Clark has a shitload of money he'll have to spend and throwing some scratch at someone like Romo that could pull us off his stench may be just the trick. Whatever happens, I'm sure it will piss me off when all is said and done. Pioli is incapable of doing the right thing, even when he does the right thing. |
Cassel

Todd Blackledge.
Print 'em. |
I chose an older veteran backup for another NFL team, not otherwise named. It has been the Chiefs way for longer than I can remember.

No Brett Favre comes out of retirement again option?

Jeff George. /Big Sexy

If it's a draft choice, we have to hope that Pioli isn't the GM. Are we forgetting? "No one knows Cassel better than Pioli."
This is our GM; this is empirical evidence of his knowledge and skill set. |
This is the Chiefs. We go for the other team's backups.
|
This is the time we've been waiting for. It will be a first round rookie. Let's just hope they pan out better than Sanchez, Gabbert, etc.
|
Shaun Hill.
|
Why the hell is Charlie Batch on the list? LMAO
|
Some chump veteran like Hasselbeck, while our 5th round QB competes with Stanzi in a clipboard hot potato contest

If it's not Geno Smith, I will smear poop on Rain Man's office window.
(I suggest you call up Pioli now and "make a deal" if you don't want to look at feces when you're at the office, Kevin) |
Oh, and Rausch is going to be livid when he sees teh 0dd t0dd isn't an option.

As some background, there have been 66 first-round quarterbacks drafted since the year we picked up Blackledge. This counts a few first-rounders in the supplemental draft, but excludes the special draft of USFL players when that league shut down.
Here's the list of them by team. The only two teams that have not drafted a quarterback in the first round during this period (1984-2012) are Kansas City and New Orleans. (In fairness, we've traded first-round picks for both Montana and Green in the past.) 4 teams have drafted four first-round quarterbacks. 7 teams have drafted three first-round quarterbacks. 11 teams have drafted two first-round quarterbacks. 8 teams have drafted one first-round quarterback. 2 teams have not drafted a first-round quarterback. Bills - Losman Dolphins - Tannehill Patriots – Bledsoe Jets – Sanchez, Pennington Ravens - Flacco, Boller Bengals – Palmer, Ak Smith, Klingler Browns - Weeden, Quinn, Couch, Kosar (suppl. Pick) Steelers - Roethlisberger Texans - Carr Colts – Luck, P. Manning, George Jaguars - Gabbert, Leftwich Titans - Locker, V. Young, McNair, J. Everett Broncos - Tebow, Cutler, Maddox Raiders – Russell, Marinovich Chargers - E. Manning, Leaf Cowboys – Walsh (suppl. Pick), Aikman Giants - P. Rivers, D. Brown (suppl. Pick) Eagles – McNabb Redskins - Griffin, J. Campbell, P. Ramsey, Shuler Bears – Grossman, McNown, Harbaugh Lions - Stafford, Harrington, A. Ware, C. Long Packers - Rodgers Vikings – Ponder, Culpepper Falcons – Ryan, Vick, C. Miller Panthers – Newton, K. Collins Buccaneers – Freeman, Dilfer, Testaverde Cardinals – Leinert, Rosenbach (suppl. Pick), Stouffer Rams - Bradford 49ers - A. Smith, Druckenmiller Seahawks – Mirer, D. McGwire |
Haha who are the ppl who picked 1st rd rookie? Like that is ever gonna happen
|
If Pioli is still here it will be Cassel or some other never was. You guys that actually think the Chiefs will start a rookie are fooling yourselves.
|
Yall will not be starting a rookie at QB when Cassel's last 2 years are gonna be so cheap

We would have to look hard to find another QB who made it all the way through college without playing a single snap. We don't want somebody all used up in college.
|
Len Dawson?
|
Cassel. Pioli cant quit him.
|
40 people really think a 1st round rookie will start for this franchise? Can I have some of what you are smoking/snorting/injecting?
|
It will be the current back up to Tom Brady

Had a hard time voting as the poll was thrown with absolutely zero accuracy.
|
Come on guys. Pioli isn't stupid. He's a good GM.
He knows Cassel isn't the answer. He'll do the right thing. He'll use a player from the tree. Probably Damon Huard. |
Just remember Chief fans... Luck and RG3 are one in a millions and the odds are in favor of you getting a Jamarcus

My gut tells me, regardless of who is GM, that Matt Barkley will be the opening day starter (the Chiefs winning too many games to draft Geno Smith).
|
If Cassel is the starter of this team next year.
That will be the last straw...the final nail in the coffin, I will no longer be a Chiefs fan. I will continue to post here...but it will be nothing but Chiefs bashing threads/posts. |

We still have 18 guys who are still playing for the team that drafted them, and most of them are young. So maybe the number will go up. And I count three more who went to a Super Bowl with their original team and lost (McNabb, McNair, and Grossman), excluding PManning. And a few others who made it to the championship game - Flacco(?), Kosar, Culpepper, and Alex Smith. So it seems like the performance curve overall is decent, with roughly one in five making it to a conference championship with their team. However, one in five odds isn't exactly our expectation. |

Brady, Ruthlessrapist, Manning, etc. That's like 8 SB's right there... |

I am afraid that Cassel will be the starter next year if Pioli is still the GM. I am through if that is the case. I have been attending Chiefs games since the 1960s. Family has had season tickets for over 40 years. No more if Cassel remains the QB. No more. I can't take it anymore.
