Would you take Rob Ryan as DC ?
Pro Football Weekly @ProFootballWkly
RT @BrianCoz: Not sure if this is out there but I just heard the Cowboys have fired Rob Ryan. |
Too fat / me
|
Um, yeah?
|
Well that's certainly interesting.
|
For sure.
|
Only if there was no other choice.

Yea I would, reminds me of Romeo a little bit. Good DC, not so good HC.
Those 4 letters in between can really mess a brother up. |

Maybe its just me, but i'm not impressed with Rob Ryan
|
If that rumor about Lovie Smith is true, I'd rather have him than Rob even though it would mean we would have to switch to the 4-3 which I don't want to do.
|
He seems to be cursed as a DC. His teams never make the playoffs.

meh.
Rob Ryan DC pts against rankings Oakland 2004 - 31 2005 - 25 2006 - 18 2007 - 26 2008 - 24 Cleveland 2009 - 21 2010 - 13 Dallas 2011 - 16 2012 - 24 |

hmmm...DMN on twitter gets the fail whale then. carry on, nothing to see here... |
Hmm, that's really interesting on the points against. Perhaps my unequivocal hell yes should have been tempered.
|
Even though he runs a 3-4, he'd be about 10th on my list.
He just doesn't seem to have "it" when it comes to coordinating a defense. |
That's just what we need. After years of too much ego at Arrowhead they finally clean house... so let's go hire one of the Ryan's. And not even the one that's had a lot of success coordinating a defense, let's go get the other one.

Hell no.
The Cowboys defense has been an overrated pile of fail with no direction under him. We can do better. |
no thanks
|

I hope it's neither of them. |

people think he's his brother...then they're like 'oh....' |
I will be happy with the guy Andy wants. Reid is so plugged in...he knows who the great assistants and coordinators are.
|
One vote for Rob Ryan here!
|
No hes never coached a defense to the playoffs.
|
Jimmy Kempski @ Jimmy_Beast
In his 9 years as a defensive coordinator, none of Rob Ryan's teams have ever had a winning record. This. |
No thanks.

I'd rather have Ryan than Kiffin.

No thanks.

I would take Dick Jauron over Rob Ryan.
That's how much I don't want this guy. |
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
RT @espn_macmahon Rob Ryan confirms he's fired. "I'll be out of work for like 5 minutes," he said. ROFL |
Schefter just tweeted Ryan confirmed his firing saying, "I'll be out of work for five minutes"

I guess he's not too pleased with Rob Ryan getting canned. RT @BruceCarter54: WTF! Expand |
gregg rosenthal @greggrosenthal
In terms of maximizing talent, Rob Ryan out-coached Jason Garrett 2 straight years. Not even close. Expand |
Ryan! Hell yes. That guy can run a defense. Goofy and shaggy as hell but he would a great fit.
|
Thanks, but no thanks.
|
25 ppg. Not so good.
|
In his 9 years as a DC, Rob Ryan has never had a winning record.
|
I'd rather have Lovie Smith or Dick Jauron

Intriguing, but no thanks.

Hell, No.
|
**** NO !!!!
|
People who want Ryan as DC don't watch football and just listen to the media hacks who are constantly on his jock.
|
He's overrated he has never coordinated a top 10 defense in points allowed...
Rob Ryan defensive points allowed rank 2004 - 31st 2005 - 25th 2006 - 18th 2007 - 26th 2008 - 24th 2009 - 21st 2010 - 13th 2011 - 16th 2012 - 24th |

Not trying to argue for Ryan, but I want to see a better arguement than this one |

The result was that Dallas gave up even more points than the previous year. Ryan sucks. |
Quote:
2005 - Kerry Collins 2006 - Andrew Walter/Aaron Brooks 2007 - Josh McCown/Dante Culpepper/Jamarcus Russel 2008 - Jamarcus Russell 2009 - Brady Quinn/Derek Anderson 2010 - Colt McCoy/Seneca Wallace/Jake Delhomme 2011 - Tony Romo 2012 - Tony Romo I'm not defending the guy but, that is a perfect counter argument because it doesnt get more dog shit than that list of QBs, and I mean, we know first hand what a defense with a season of Brady Quinn gives you so, if anything, Chiefs fans should be able to relate to Rob Ryan |
and Rob Ryan's coaches
Lane Kiffin, Eric Mangini, Jason Garrett I know Rob Ryan sucks but holy shit he has been with some absolute trash Head Coaches/QB tandems for 90 percent of DC resume |

I want an attacking defensive coordinator. These players are all made to play downhill and dictate the tempo of the game and forcing bad decisions.
I want no part of Kiffen or Rob Ryan because neither is aggressive enough. |
hell to the yes........back to the 4 -3
|
Quote:
id like to see you make a career as a DC with Jamarcus Russel and Brady Quinn |
Quote:
Horseshit! The Cowboys put up over 23ppg which was 15th both years. That is not even in the same universe as the Chiefs 13ppg (31st & 32nd). Ryan fielded a below average defense with an average offense. |
Never made the playoffs in 9 seasons as a DC...?
Sounds like he will fit right in. |
No
|
The Ryans
He's just like his brother and his father. The Ryans are all about themselves. Chiefs don't need that. Just went through a G.M. who had the same problem. Showboat coaches need not apply.

Lovie Smith is #1 on my list if he cant find a HC gig.
|
I hate Rob Ryan with a passion. The guy has been a career failure as a DC yet runs his mouth like he's the greatest ever. Lucky for us Reid won't be stupid enough to hire that self promoting fraud.
|
Guy need a haircut. No thanks. I want an agressive but GOOD DC
|
Sure would have thought he could have done better with having Ware as his cornerstone
|
Even before he got to Dallas I always thought Rob Ryan was the perfect Cowboy: Overrated. And beyond that, overrated based on things he hadn't even done.

Regardless, the defense definitely took a step back after adding two highly sought after cornerbacks, which I'm sure played a major role into why he was fired. That defense has a lot of talent. |
