Does anyone else think that its not ok that their fans were throwing things at our players after we scored? Shouldn't the NFL be fining them or something?

I think that is not ok.

Dumbest idea ever.

Now you're punishing teams for their fans......as if they have control over what they do.

Katipan 12-17-2013 10:40 AM

I spent more time rewatching the fan reactions than it took for Jamaal to run the 49 yards. After the shower of beer it looked like there were official type people down there along with some finger pointing. Bet JC isn't the only one that got soaked.

They must not have that cool secret snitch text feature that Arrowhead has.

Are you SERIOUS???? Did you even watch football before 2005??? THAT would explain a LOT! In any case, they did it from the late '80's to about 2005 or so. When it first came out it was ****ING RIDICULOUS because QB's would just walk up to the LOS and claim they couldn't hear, or they would "try" to bark out signals and walk away pointing to their helmets - usually as time was about to expire on the play clock. Then the refs would access the HOME TEAM a 5 YARD PENALTY! Of course in most cases this would just make the fans LOUDER. I'm not sure, but I believe if it didn't stop, the home team could actually lose a time out. I remember Marty telling the fans to quiet down at ARROWHEAD. John Elway and especially Stan Humphries used to pull that shit all the time. Used to really piss me off.

You have heard of Elway and Stan Humphries - right?

I can't find any other verification of the Chiefs/Broncos, but there is this.

Quote:

I want you to imagine the following scenario. The fans are noisy. The quarterback turns to the referee and says, "They can't hear me." The ref signals him to run his play. He takes a step back. "I won't run it until you quiet down the crowd."

The ref is getting madder and madder. Let's say he's an old timer who doesn't really favor this type of confrontation.

"Will ya run the damn play?" he says. "You're making me look bad."

"You've got a penalty for crowd noise, call it," the QB says. "I'll stand here all night." He's a feisty kind of guy. He puts his hands on his hips and walks away. Now the crowd is really getting into it. Let's say this is a Monday night game. In the booth, the ABC announcers are laughing.

There is an announcement over the P.A. to the effect that the crowd has to quiet down. The decibel volume goes up by about 200 percent. The defensive players on the field start signaling the fans to be quiet. They boo their home team players. There is another announcement, this time that their team will be penalized unless the fans pipe down. "Booooo! Screw you!"

Finally the ref drops the flag. Omigod, he really did it. Howls of anguish from the stands, as he walks off the five yards. There is another announcement about a further penalty, if needed. The howls subside to grumbles. The quarterback steps up and calls his play.

So what do you think of this scenario? Far fetched, huh? Guess what, it really happened. Bengals vs. Saints in the New Orleans Superdome on Monday night, August 28, 1989.
