Tommy Brasher to be Chiefs D-line coach
KC Mothership @kcmothership
@ArrowheadPride @theprogramkc Tommy Brasher will be the #Chiefs new D-Line coach. #NFL Thoughts? Eagles fan have any insight on this old man? And does it give any indication of whether or not we're leaning towards a 4-3 or 3-4? I found this quote interesting from Brasher Quote:

How is he at slap fighting?
|
Who?
|
Still don't think we would name position coaches without having a DC in place.
|
Also just saw that the Chiefs are interviewing the Bears ST coordinator, Dave Toub, which would be a GREAT hire IMO.
|
This is what scares off potential high profile DC's. Most DC's want input in who their potential position coaches will be.

Tommy Brasher is an American football coach who currently serves as the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive line coach.[1] He coached the Eagles line in 1985, then moved on to the Atlanta Falcons until 1989. After this he went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to coach for 1 year in 1990. He coached the Seattle Seahawks Defensive line from 1992-1998. Then he went back to the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999, until 2005, when he retired.[2] In 2001 he was awarded the Eagles Ed Block Courage Award. He came out of retirement in 2012 to rejoin the Eagles after the firing of Jim Washburn and is currently serving as the defensive line coach.

Say goodbye to any thought of us running an aggressive, attacking defensive scheme.
That's what this hire represents. The rumors about Kiffin ...and now a "read and react" guy is hired to coach the DL before we have a DC in place. |
this guy is literally 300 years old
like he might die on the field as horrible is that is to say |

Yeah he is one of Andys's guys from the Eagles from a few years back. If this rumor is substantive I would take it as a prelude to the announcement that the Chiefs new DC is someone already in house that will be staying on or Andy will be bringing one of his guys to be DC instead of a Kiffin or someone else third party. Brasher is a Jim Johnson disciple. 4-3, get to the QB using the DEs and plug the running lanes with the DTs. Indicates the LBs and secondary will be involved in the pass pressure. The Johnson system brought pressure from ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. Generates lots of confusion and turnovers, marginalizes the Mike LB, and its principal weakness is pass coverage over the middle and in the seams in the zone.
|
now the weakness is going to beat our defense and its going to get beat like a ****ing drum all season long with this crappy non attacking bullshit
DEs rushing upwards and every stupid delay, screen, bootleg, pistol option play is going to beat them |

Interestingly to add to my post above, I'm now hearing on Philly's WIP SportRadio as I type that Kiffin is headed for Dallas. <- Unsubstantiated but they normally don't report until its 95% certain.

I dont give a shit what kind of defense we play as long as it wins games.
