I'm surprised we want McClain back. His blocking sucked.
I'd like to see what he could do as RB2. |
I don't really care to see McClain back. If he does come back, that's fine. But in all honesty Mike Cox was a better blocker.
|
What I'm reading implies that our QBs in training camp will be Luck, Griffin, Tannehill, Manning, Henne, Orton, Garrard, and Cassel. I think that could make for some good competition.
|
I'm just saying, if we resigned McClain and Battle, then added Tolbert, that would give us a pretty terrific backfield. We wouldn't need to add Richardson at that point. In short yardage situations, we could have Tolbert and McClain in the backfield. Between the twenties we could have Charles and Tolbert operating out of the same backfield and Battle would provide adequate depth.
|
So on February 20th the news is that the Chiefs are "expecting Stanford Routt" to start, and on the 22nd the news is that they "would like Brandon Carr to return"?
I think Routt is a fine corner, but Carr would clearly be the starter over Routt. Where does this "news" come from? Is it just rumor? |
Chiefs | Could have interest in sucking shit again this year

well i'd rather it say they have interest in signing McClain than someone like Sabby Piscitelli
so it could be worse! |

They're throwing everything out there as a smokescreen so we don't know what they really plan to do. |

You could sign McClain, Tolbert, and Battle or draft Richardson and have him cost about half of what those three would cost. or less.

"He was throwing right as the season ended," general manager Scott Pioli said Friday, Feb. 24. "I don't know if he's 100 percent because I haven't seen him, but he's throwing well."
\ encouraging 'cause I have never seen him throw well before |
Psyko Tek, I copied the same thing:

McClain is a locker-room leader and we need to re-sign.

But you could use that one pick, save money and get a better player than those three likely combined. With that saved money go get a qb or NT. |

LMAO So Jackie Battle decided on the 22nd to test the FA waters and 4 days later it looks like we will resign him. I guess his value is less than he thought.
|
I'm surprised there's so much discussion of McClain.
|
Could have sworn everyone was saying that Orton had no interest in playing for us.
Never saw an actual quote from him saying as much but... |
Chiefs open to trading up or down in the first round
The Chiefs got a big victory during the Combine, grabbing the 11th pick in the draft after winning a coin toss against the Seahawks, who will choose 12th. It may not seem like much of a difference, but GM Scott Pioli felt the win helps the Chiefs whether they want to keep the pick or trade it. "Not only is it a better opportunity for you to get what you want, but if there is an opportunity to make a trade, you are one spot higher, and the value of that pick is going to be that much greater," the GM said. |

Remember that one throw in that one game??? Not sure which one but I remember it. |

Chris Rainey for Chiefs 2012!

I just don't see what he brings to the table that pretty much any other back couldn't. |

With the Chiefs now selecting ahead of Seattle, it significantly increases our trade value to move back. If a guy like Tannehill is available when we pick, a team may want to jump Seattle to draft him. Same goes for Richardson, who could also go to Seattle. |

Chiefs hope to win games next year.
Mon, 27 Feb 20:45:12 The Kansas City Chiefs hope to win games rather than lose them in 2012. Each week they'd like to score more points than the other team. |

Good to see the Chiefs showing interest in Tolbert. He would be an excellent compliment to Charles.
Also glad to see they're doing the sensible thing and going for Soliai. |

That's the one head scratcher I have about all this. Romeo said that one of the things he'll do better this time is to avoid a qb controversy. Then everything he says is basically "**** Matt" except for the occasional "he's the guy under contract, so he's our starter" which translates to me as "dammit I can't believe cassel is better than stanzi" I say ****it let Stanzi start. Go big or go home. |

Before everyone gets a raging hard-on regarding the #2 pick talk....
Here's the direct quote from the article that was the source: Quote:

HOLY ****ING SHIT, BATMAN!!!!
Chiefs | Have talked about No. 2 pick in NFL Draft Wed, 29 Feb 2012 11:05:59 -0800 The Kansas City Chiefs have held preliminary talks with the St. Louis Rams regarding the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Chiefs have expressed interest in Baylor QB Robert Griffin III. Head coach Romeo Crennel gushed about Griffin during the NFL Scouting Combine, saying he is the kind of player "you go up to get." I'm sooooo hard. |

It says in the first line that we have held preliminary talks with them about the pick.
I would love for them to be able to put a package together to move up, but them simply taking it far enough to talk about that big a move is basically waving goodbye to Matt Cassel just a little more and that, to me, is exciting. Also, a mod should update the title before we get a barrage of reposts of this. |
And about Paul Soliai:
Miami’s Paul Soliai is headed to free agency and I think both the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers will be interested in him. Link: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post...hiefs-chargers |
Quote:

it also said that the Chiefs have had talks with the Rams. If i see trade and the Chiefs pop up at 2. I will seriously ****ing weep like a kid!
|
Quote:
If this happens, I will continuously masturbate to a picture of Pioli's wife until I pass out. |

The reason I posted the article that the KFFL link has listed as its source.... was because no where in it does it say the Rams and Chiefs have talked. Its the reporter speculating, and then KFFL picked it up and made the headline sexy. |
This "nightcrew" is "braindead"

The Chiefs are the most conservative team in the draft ever. There's no way they throw a bunch of picks out for one player. |
Quote:
Stop being the guy at the party thats all like "they probably got pulled over on the way over with the keg" For the first time in my football lifetime, the Chiefs are apparently looking at GOOD quarterbacks that there is a POSSIBILITY of getting. Let me and my boner have a couple minutes before you start flashing naked pictures of my grandmother in front of me to remind me of reality. |
i believe in .. nuttin they say .....
|
haha fair enough... just didnt want CP to get collective blue balls.
|
Quote:
The Rams could possibly cut some dead weight and take a combination of Dorsey/Bowe and our #11 pick in trade because that gives them two proven players AND a premium pick. Truth is, they have the pick for sale and they may see a compensation package like that as better value than a bunch of picks. Just the thought of our team with somebody except Cassel at quarterback is enough to get me excited. |
There is no ****ing way the Chiefs will trade up to get the #2 pick from the Rams. It would be awesome if they did, but I don't believe for a second that they'll do it. Pioli is gonna ride Matt ****ing Cassel until he gets fired.
|
Romeo has came right out and
A. Said he wants Orton to return B. Said the team would be crazy not to consider Peyton Manning C. Said RG3 is the type if quarterback "you go up and get" D. All of the above. ... You can't tell me with a straight face that the guy likes Cassel and is backing him. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
He is so adamant about it that everywhere he goes he talks about possible quarterback acquisitions. There is smoke surrounding half the forest and some here still think there isn't a fire. |
Quote:
burn it all if it lays waste to Cassel. |

Quote:
Personally, I don't see how he could. He's left his defensive units high and dry the last 2 years. |
Quote:
Answer- Haley's firing. Haley was never a Cassel fan from the get go and by the end of 2010 Haley was emotionally and mentally done with Cassel and Pioli knew it. Thus you have the 2011 strained relationship between Haley and Pioli. And when Cassel got hurt Palko was Haley's middle finger to Pioli as someone suggested here on the board which I thoroughly agree with. IMHO Pioli is just playing poker here. |

A. Do you see Orton back in Kansas City for another year? B. Would you consider bringing in Peyton Manning if he becomes available? C. What did you think of Robert Griffin III? It's not like Romeo is the one bringing up the QB situation. Yes, his answers have been positive, but I'm not going to get too excited until I see a QB change happen. |
