Favorite documentaries?
The History channel website was having a good clearence sale the other day, so I ordered a couple dvd's. Last Stand of the 300, Battle of Thermopylae, and Heroes of the Holocaust. I watched Last Stand of the 300 earlier and it was very impressive. It went into detail of everything that lead up to the battle and what happened during and after. There was a lot that I didn't know about. If you are into Greek battles or Persian military history I highly recommend this documentary. It discussed King Leonidas life, Xerxes life, the sea battle that took place during the battle and what took place before a boy could become a man.

I liked Bill Murray's comment to Depp about snapping back into his personality for the rest of your life once you take it on. I can totally understand that, he had such a great perspective. |

Anyone who likes "B movies" or has any interest in them, should check out "Not Quite Hollywood".
Crush would love it, I think. |
"Trekkies" is both entertaining and deeply disturbing.

Anything by "Project Camelot". That's some way out shit. You Tube at your leisure.

Agree with several already mentioned:
The Machine That Made Us anything by Ken Burns Food Inc Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room |
haven't seen a really good doc in a while. They either really pull me in or bore me to death.
What's on netflix besides King of Kong? |
The union is a good one. If you like HST you should read Tom Wolfe's the electric kool-aid acid test.
|
American Movie with Mark Borchardt.

Just watched Jiro Dreams of Sushi on Netflix
Somehow they made a movie about a 80 year old Japanese guy who makes sushi fascinating and compelling for about 90 minutes. Recommend. |

Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him)? is a good one. I'd heard of the guy before but didn't know much about him. It was incredible how many songs I recognized during the film for only vaguely being aware of the guy. Here's a wiki description:

On Netflix now. Beer Wars is about the big 3 beer companies basically trying to crush the independent craft beer industry. I'll never drink another Bud again.

The main block of text says: HOUSE OF HADESAbove and below it in smaller text is: WHO WILL PAY FOR ALL THEY HAVE DONE? I'm sure it's just a copycat, but it's still cool! I'll post a picture later when I have some time. |
Chasing Ghosts: Beyond The Arcade and The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters are pretty damn good got to love Billy Mitchell's I will be not be **** with attitude

I'm STILL trying to crack DK...wish I was half as good as Mitchell, Wiebe, or Hank Chien. |
Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles I'm not sure why but this one just hooked me. If I had to recommend only one it'd be this one. It starts slow and you really don't care at first but then it builds and sucks you in.
Best Worst Movie Just wow. At times you just feel uncomfortable knowing the fail train is running on time... The Wild and Wonderful Whites Imagine having a one night stand and knocking up someone in this insane family. I don't have to... Shut Up Little Man! If you liked Resurrect Dead you'll like this. Most people will probably like this more. Stranger than fiction for sure... |
