Do you ever buy clothing gifts for women online?
 

I bought some stuff for Christmas and on all the reviews everyone was saying that they should have bought a size larger than normal, so I bought a size medium for someone who is definitely a small and I'm worried that women are just so delusional when it comes to their body size, that when they needed a Large, it was because they are actually Large.

So...looks like I might be returning this stupid Medium to get the Small.

I bought nearly all my gifts online this year. but not clothing, for the reasons stated in the OP. I'm terrible at sizes, but pretty good at eyeing these things, so if I'm getting clothes I just go out.

i have to, cause the ****ers don't let me try them on in the store.

Never buy clothing for women, ever. If it's too small, they'll think they're fat. If it's too large, they'll assume that you think they're fat. And if it's the right size, it'll be either too dowdy or too racy or too old or too young or it won't be a match for her color wheel, which you would know if you were paying any attention at all. Just buy her a vacuum cleaner and avoid risk.

The only thing I'm worried about if it doesn't fit, is that I have to return and exchange it.

I hate to pile on but man you should never buy clothes for a woman, especially not online.

Frankly, it's too risky to buy any gift for a woman. There are far too many things that can go wrong.

I have and regretted it, but not because what I bought was not the right size.

All this said, I haven't really bought the wife clothes this year. She just dropped a kid. I did buy her a couple of athletic type clothing because I know she's going back to her workout warrior routine soon so I can't really screw that up. But most relationships aren't mature enough to be able to pull that off.

This. I have my wife make a very specific wish list of things she wants (including pictures, store, price etc) and pick a few things from it. She gets exactly what she wants and I live in peace. Win win

I wouldn't hesitate to buy my wife clothes online if I thought there was a chance in hell she would wear them.

It's not that she would be pissed at me or anything, it's just that she sends back about 3/4 of the stuff she buys for herself, so I have no hope of getting it right.

I have a friend whose harpy, er... I mean, wife... will not tell him what she wants even though he begs her to do so. She says he should know what she wants by now. He gets the wrong thing and she gets mad, so now he just said if she doesn't tell him what she wants, then she gets nothing. She still gets all pissy, but it's less stress for him.

I don't even buy clothes for myself online.

I went through that hell for the first 5 years we were together. At first she was hesitant but, when she realized she would never get another crappy gift from me she went all in. We've been together for 18 blissful years :)

This. I absolutely positively hate buying gifts for anyone, but buying for my wife literally puts the fear of God into me.

No problems here, my wife is fairly easy to please and I do okay buying online. I'm much more high maintenance than she is.

Mine too. I got off easy this year, the list was pretty short. I got damn near everything on the list for under $200. Of course last year I spent $1500 so I guess she was being nice :)
