DJ Hord cancels MU and Notre Dame visit

D.J. Hord was scheduled to take his first two official visits to Notre Dame and Missouri this weekend and the following weekend, respectively. However, those plans have now changed.

"I learned yesterday that my visit to Notre Dame wouldn't take place," said Hord. "I tried to get my LSU visit pushed up to this weekend, but I guess it was just too late in the week. I also decided that I'm going to visit Kansas State on December 10th rather than Missouri. Other than that, I'm still considering taking a visit to Purdue as well."

Many might find his move to visit to Kansas State rather than Missouri a bit surprising, but not Hord.

"I had a little bit of a conflict that came up with that weekend where it'd be better off for me to visit Kansas State," added the Scout.com US Army All-American selection. "I may still visit Missouri on the 17th, but Kansas State is really emerging on my list. I like all of their coaches, and it truly is the same respect for everyone on their staff."

Hord hopes to make his selection during halftime of the Scout.com US Army All-American game.

Perilloux ain't comin' to KSU, which is fine with me. I'll take the kid that said Snyder was "the bomb". Can't say that I've heard him described that way before.

He's..visiting! Yeah, its still a good thought though.

As much as I dislike Rockhurst....DJ Hord is the real deal. Great athlete. He will do some good things.

Portis fits the KSU offense much better than RP. I honestly think he'll commit this weekend, but who knows. I do know that Oregon is making a huge push to get him in for a visit. They scare me more than Maryland right now.

I've been told that RP is not going to visit now. I never really thought he would, quite frankly.

PastorMikH 12-02-2004 05:55 PM

The way Missouri played this year who could blame him. Shoot, they'll probably lose several decent prospects by the way they managed to tank this year.

I see....what do you think our chances are with Chase Coffman?

Saulbadguy 12-02-2004 07:24 PM

Chitown, if you didn't already know this, Marcus Raines gave a verbal today.

ZachKC, did you play with James Stigall?

Nope he was a year from being on my team.
I have seen him play alot. He is a stud...plays basketball also. Shut down Tyler Hansbrough when matched up against him if you can believe it.

Blue Springs got 2nd place in state last year in Big Class basketball. They lost to Poplar Bluff who had Hansbrough.

They were getting thier asses handed to them the whole game. It was awful. In the 4th qtr they brought James in to match up with Hansbrough on the inside and he shut him down. He wouldn't let him do anything on the inside and Hansbrough wasn't quite getting it done with the outside shot.

Blue Springs made a huge comeback led by Mikey White but it wasn't quite enough.

They got those jersies after me seinor year. I like the more than ours. Pisses me off.

Saulbadguy 12-02-2004 07:36 PM

I hope he picks the right school. It would be an easy "uniform and mascot" transition for him if he does, at least. :)

Saulbadguy 12-02-2004 07:38 PM

Man..this Marcus Raines kid looks like he could be HUGE for us coming out of the JUCO ranks. 6'3 230 and runs a 4.4 40...I just hope he has more brains than Marvin Simmons.

Poor 'ol Murons. Left at the altar again.

Hey Saul, Have you checked Rivals.com lately to see who has the #1 ranked recruiting class at the moment. Dare I say....... Nebraska!! Read it and weep:deevee: BTW Kansas St. is ranked 29th.:p

Yea i've seen that. Lets see if they can do something with those recruits.

By the way, who starts at QB next season?

Most likely Harrison Beck. But Dailey will still have a year in the system on him. But Beck is the 5 star stud. :thumb:

The players aren't the problem, it's the coach. He took a 10 win team and got 5 wins out of them. (Including a 70 point thrashing).

I think it was both. Evidence is that Barret Ruud is the only 1st team all Big 12 this year. One of the Bullock twins was 2nd team and they both play defense. That was it. Under Osborne we usually had 4-5 each year on both sides of the ball. It noticably fell off under Solich to the point where a couple of years we had none on either side of the ball. Calahan made the mistake of trying to force feed the WC offense. I don't know what the hell happened on defense other than to say it was their 3rd Defensive coordinator in 3 years. Better times a coming.:thumb:

60 points. But that's semantics. :)

Yeah, you're right. I was just hoping TT would push that last one in. Then get a two point conversion.

Depends. We're in on a big time HS TE in Miami right now (Richard Gordon). I don't see us taking any more than one HS TE for this class, so it will be close. I think it will come down to MU and KSU, with NU being his 3rd choice.

irishjayhawk 12-02-2004 09:25 PM

Just wondering where did you get that info. Cool info. Guess i shoudl ask him during class sometime.

Ask him where he is going to school. ;) We didn't say nuthin here!

Actually, I got this information off Scout.com...a college recruiting network.

irishjayhawk 12-03-2004 02:22 PM

scout.com = sweet
rivals.com = cool but not as good as scout (IMO)

Brando 12-03-2004 02:30 PM

Saul,
I was looking over a coaching website earlier today. It's a place for coaches to post resumes and network.
They also list coaching vacancies for all college levels and the pros. They keep a list of possible candidates on there too.
I was on to see what the word on SU was and I noticed that they were looking to get more info on K-State's coaching situation. Not that I usually put too much stock into internet rumors or message boards but this is supposedly a board/tool for coaches done by coaches.
Any chance that Snyder retires or is asked to?
Brando

I saw that.

Nothing at all to do with Bill Snyder, but it could have something to do with DC Bobby Elliott. There's been various rumors that he might leave for another job/get fired.

I've heard rumors that HCBS is cleaning house and will fire most if not all of the coaching staff.

Don't bite on that bullshite. We might lose 1-2 coaches (might) for various reasons, but HCBS won't be "cleaning house". One losing season since 1993, and the whole Program is going to implode? Nah, we'll be right back on top in 2005. Mark my words.......

Right now HCBS (from the boards, not the media) is catching alot of flak over Marcus Raines. I'm assuming if everything is true, it will catch up.

I expected nothing less. Marcus Rianes wouldn't be playing sports right now if he weren't a free man that has paid his debt for his deed. He had 4 other known scholarship offers and probably would have had a bunch more by the end of this month. KSU did their background on this kid. He made a mistake as a 17 yr old kid and paid the price. There's no need to make him pay for the rest of his life.

Let's hope we get Josh Portis to verbal this weekend along with Chase Coffman!

Acording to some kid in Chat last night, one of DJ's best friends (student, not student athlete) is going to KSU. Apparently, they want to attend the same school together. If we make the right pitch, I think he commit's on Dec 10th. JMO, of course

Ahh yes, Hansbrough Quin's mistake. :cuss: Ricky Clemons. Oh yeah and David Lee. Wow Klieza and Lee would have been nice this year.

Saulbadguy 12-04-2004 09:15 AM

Well, Coach Snyder has officially rescinded his schollie offer to Marcus Raines.

Is Snyder still doddering around up there? He's done shot his wad.
