They said he has to do 2 more months under house arrest.

Yea, he'll be confined to his home like a newborn puppy. After that, the media will dog his ass. :D

ToxSocks 05-20-2009 11:24 AM

OK Gang...

Cormac 05-20-2009 11:29 AM

AFAIK he gets free from house arrest on July 20. Then, and not before then, Roger Goodell will listen to an NFL reinstatement request. I heard y'day on ESPN that Atlanta were shopping his rights for a 7th rounder on draft day and nobody bit (no pun intended - boooo!).

Apparently he still has a lot of legal proceedings (mainly bankruptcy related) to wade through once he is released.

fuck Vick.

It's not so much an issue of his "debt" to any one entity, but more an issue of "no one owes him a damn thing, he ruined one of the best opportunities available, in one of the worst ways possible." The fact is, they are role models and extremely public figures, whether they want that or otherwise, and I think it's shameful to entertain his becoming a role model again. You're sending a message that all can be forgotten and redeemed, and that's simply not true. Goodell is a fool to reinstate him to the league.

Nevermind the fact that he's "bankrupt" and yet living in a $750K house while on "house arrest" working a construction gig for $10/hr - which is horsesh*t.

The NFL is trying desperately hard to run itself into the ground. Let's put Vick back out there, increase the schedule to 48 games, make 20 more "protect Brady" rules, and just for kicks....let's send the Super Bowl overseas.

Turds.

Which is the better son Micheal or Marcus Vick?

Horrible use of prison space, right up there with putting someone in jail for having a joint in their pocket.

I'd say what Vick did was slightly worse than possessing marijuana.

Deberg_1990 05-20-2009 01:12 PM

Sign em Scott!

Honestly, if you bring him in and he shows that hes ready to change his life and start over, whats the harm? He would make a nice backup QB.

DJJasonp 05-20-2009 01:14 PM

Unfortunately, Michael Vick will remain relevant as long as ESPN says so....

kcxiv 05-20-2009 01:20 PM

The bestt hing about it, is no one got any video of him leaving. haha He was sneaky.

Garcia Bronco 05-20-2009 01:21 PM

Good. While deplorable he should not have been in jail for that long if at all.

I guess you're more or less right. I don't think he should ever set foot on an NFL field again, though.

Good rant.

But I disagree.

Vick apparently always ran with the wrong crowd and didn't have the brains/guts to turn his back on them when he made it rich. Many people would have struggled with that dilemma. He is guilty of many things, but not as guilty as many who walk free. I am as big a dog lover as anybody, but I think he paid disproportionately dearly for the severity of the crime. He still has his house because he is going to try to prove in court that he can still earn enough to repay his creditors.

Most importantly, he did the time (and I think it was excessive). As far as I am concerned he is as free as anybody to pursue a wholesome life now. That's what the justice system is in place to do. Obviously he'll have strict terms of probation but I wouldn't begrudge him getting back in the league. If you think he didn't get punished enough, blame the justice system, not him.

JMO.

You missed my point. Our prisons are dangerously overcrowded because we incarcerate anyone and everyone who breaks a law even if they are not dangerous to society.

Vick was cruel to animals so sentence the dude to 3 years confined labor at a cattle ranch or dog pound or something that makes him pay his debt by contributing something back to society.

Same as the college kid who gets convicted for marijuana possession. Don't throw him in jail for 3 months like they do here in AZ. Set him to work on a government project or somewhere else where he is contributing instead of taking up prison space that could be used for a rapist or other dangerous person.

Fair enough. I'd support something like that, although with respect to marijuana possession, I'd rather just legalize it outright.

What do you think is the BIGGER injustice?

2008 Micheal Vick is sentenace to 18 months in Federal Pen for bankrolling a dog fighting enterprise.

In 1998 Leonard Little leaves his 24th birtday party drunk off his ass and has a car accident that kills a woman (Wife and mother) Little received 60 days and 1000 hours of community service..

It seems to me we are being a LOT harsher to someone mistreating animals than we are to someone that takes a HUMAN life while being drunk? :shake:

Now Vick being prosucuted at the Federal level didn't help his case what so ever but the outcome still remains the same.

I'm not defending Vick or trying to make him out to be a martyr or anything and I do think both of them are waste of Oxygen.

But in the big picture I think our system is pretty F*#$% ed up when someone that kills a human pretty much gets off with basically a slap on the wrist and someone that kills some animals gets 18 months in the PEN. I just think that is injustice anyway you want to spin it.

Vick got what he deserved IMO. Little got off pretty much with just a record an NO WHERE near the punishment he should have gotten. That is my point with my post.

IMO with 18months for Vick then Little should have gotten 5-7 years for Involuntary Manslaughter.

Our Justice system seems to be assbackwards sometimes.

Brock 05-21-2009 08:22 AM

Leonard Little should still be in prison. Vick never should have gone to prison. Neither one of them should be playing in the NFL.

kcbubb 05-21-2009 10:37 AM

I'm sure I will get flamed and booed for saying this.....

but I would have loved to see Vick play in the so called "gimmick" offense that Gailey had last year with Thigpen.

The offense was set up for a great running QB with limited accuracy and limited decision making skills. If that does not fit Vick perfectly, I don't know what does.

StcChief 05-21-2009 11:58 AM

Vick will be in Chokeland soon enough.... wouldn't you like to have him at Arrowhead once a year to pound on.... ala the ... 56-10 when he was in ATL last time at Arrowhead.

kysirsoze 05-21-2009 12:13 PM

I can't believe some of you guys think Vick shouldn't have gone to jail. I'm not a PETA member or anything, but what he did was evil. The level of torture that he put those dogs through is serial killer level sadism. Obviously I'm not saying it's as bad as if it was people, and Leonard Little should definitely be in prison, but Vick is a disgusting individual.

Being a forgiving sort, I do hope he's "seen the error of his ways" and can turn his life around, but if he ever put on a Chiefs uniform, I would cease to be a Chiefs fan. (At least until he was done playing and maybe until Pioli was gone for bringing him in.)

he didn't steal from or hurt any other person. IMO, those are the only reasons you should ever go to prison. Dogs are property, not people.

It's not like I don't think he should be punished at all. He should lose his career.

Wow. I am just so far from your line of thinking I don't know how to respond. I guess when I think of him doing those things to an innocent being of any type, not to mention one that I am close to, it makes me want to rip the guys head off. Agree to disagree I suppose.

Do you eat chicken???

Here's what KFC supposedly does...

"KFC suppliers cram birds into huge waste-filled factories, breed and drug them to grow so large that they can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious."

I don't agree with what Vick did, but I think he paid his punishment and should be able to resume his life and career. The NFL is a job.

What if we didn't let anyone who got out of prison go back to work??? He did his time. He should be able to resume his life. You can't punish criminals forever... In some instances you have to limit their liberty, (a sex offender can't be a teacher) but that should only apply to specific cases.

A couple of those carry as much negative stigma for the NFL as what Vick did. Most of them don't. You don't have to like it, but letting a guy back into your league who tortured dogs to death is going to hurt business in a way a guy who slapped his wife around probably wouldn't.

Consistent1 05-21-2009 01:12 PM

I say let him do whatever someone is willing to pay him for. It isn't my choice. There are tons of people that are dying of curiousity to see what he has left. He won't really drag any team that signs him down. If some team that signed him played at Arrowhead next season and got him through the process with Goodell and had him on the roster, what would that do for ticket sales for that game? Protesters, whatever. If he goes out and plays well, it will turn around hella fast. Most people simply aren't PETA fanatics, they know there are people that engage in dogfighting, etc. The return of the "thug" will be a success IF he can still contribute to some team. What Vick really did wrong was bankroll his idiot friends project instead of just giving them a handout. Probably made financial sense at the time because he had not shed the hanger-on types. Would he have pissed away the time himself without his crew? I doubt it. I wouldn't even be mad if KC signed his ass up and confused people with him, used him on returns, etc. He ain't gonna make no money compared to most players anyway. He is a draw, people will want to see him kick-ass, or they will want to see him fall flat. Whatever, pro sports is a damn circus anyway.

Actually... it's just the opposite for me. bc you would be developing a standard that is ok to beat your wife and use drugs but not ok to kill and torture dogs.

Local sports radio here in Phoenix is abuzz today with talk of Vick coming to the Cardinals. Since Kurt Warner came out and said he knows Vick and Vick is a stand up guy who deserves a second chance they are speculating that life-after-Warner for the Cardinals means the A-11 with Vick-Boldin-Fitzgerald-Breston-Beanie running wild.

They are saying this is the perfect situation for Vick because Warner would be the father-figure to Vick and by association would gain Vick forgiveness from the fans.

I'm not saying it will happen, just passing on what the radio wanks are saying.
