Controversy surrounds float in NC Fourth of July parade
 

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Officials in a North Carolina town said they’ve received several complaints from people offended by a controversial Fourth of July parade float.
WTVD reported that the incident happened Thursday at the community’s annual July 4th parade in Hope Mills.
A picture snapped by a parade-goer shows a man on a tractor flying a confederate flag and pulling a wagon loaded with watermelons. A sign on the trailer read: “White History Month. Hug WTE PPL.”
Town officials told WTVD that farmer Donnie Spell applied for and received a parade permit.
However, officials said Spell told them he would be pulling an antique tractor with a sign that read: “Watermelons for sale” at a nearby bank parking lot.
When WTVD went to Spell’s home, his gate was locked. A neighbor said he didn’t think the man was trying to be vicious or funny.
But people that saw the float thought otherwise.
“This should be over, all that stuff should be over. I don’t understand why people are still living like this,” said Hope Mills resident Suzanne Singletary.
Town officials said they are considering making changes to the registration process so this does not happen again.

I'm from Virginia. Watermelon and fried chicken at least once a week as a child. I also enjoy a cold grape soda, by the way.

Reighters is debt free and proud. Of course that is easier to achieve when you lived 5 years in a Big Rig at the local garbage dump. Seriously though, he's upgraded since then to a nice trailer and was even recently made Asst. Trailer Park Supervisor. A firm believer in "The way of the road", he doesn't have time to stop to take a leak, so he uses milk jugs. He can be seen firing his dirty old piss jugs out the window or even around the park when he gets home.

The road certainly has it's perils and it gets lonely sometimes. As a truck driver, sometimes his shipments come in handy though. After acquiring a "gift" from a local lot lizard named Big Bertha, that delivery of Valtrex was a lifesaver.

Pros: Makes a mean swish. Piss jugs are efficient. Bacon flavored condoms.

Cons: He's a Raider fan of course he is. Vinegar based BBQ. Garbage juice gives the shits.

Outlook: Piss jugs, lot lizards, and last place finish for the Faid oh my.
