Tony Dungee would draft Aaron Murray
on Dan Patrick show, Dungee says Murray is a Franchise QB and if he comes out would draft him over Barkley and Geno Smith.
basically said that Murray is the best QB in the draft |
Murray is awfully good. I was hoping he would come out last year. Only concern is his size. Still prefer Geno.

Dungee?
|
Dungy very likely wouldn't know a franchise QB if one crawled up his ass and out of his mouth while completing a 50-yard strike off his back foot
|
geno rapes murray in everything...even spelling in cursive and making open fire smores...geno just kills it at life
|
You know if Georgia on their very own site is listing him at 6'1 means he's really 6'0 at best.
I went there out of curiosity thinking they'd fudge it a little and say 6'2. They couldn't even bring themselves to go that much. http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-...y_aaron00.html 6'1 210. ... Bring on the Drew Brees takes. :P |
Id take Geno i think as of now. Gota see all the QBs in the bowl games

murray has played well this year...something i still don't trust about him though, having watched him screw up under pressure for 3 years
i also think he would be best served sitting for 2-3 years a la shaub...and even then... |

You never know... a lot can happen between now and the combine.

I honestly have not seen much of Murray this year. I was high on him at the beginning of the season like I was high on a lot of the QBs at the beginning of the year (Smith, Wilson, Barkley, Bray, and even Boyd) but I've just kind of ignored the others and focused all my efforts watching Geno Smith. I've caught many of Wilson's and Barkley's games, I saw Bray play once, Boyd play once, and about two quarters of Murray.
I pretty much assumed he wouldn't declare, though. I still don't think he will with the knowledge that he can absolutely become the #1 QB next year in a REALLY weak QB class. I mean, seriously. If some of you are bitching about THIS year's class, wait until you see next year's. If he declares this year, I'll have to watch him a lot more than I have been. Something tells me that his run-first play defense pass later team isn't going to do very much to support his status as the top QB in this year's draft. Maybe next year. But not this year. |

Not a fan of Murray.
He has the tools and is a smart guy, but crumbles under pressure and repeatedly makes poor decisions. He's a psychology major and I think he often psyches himself out. |

Aaron Murray has apparently already graduated so i would think that would increase the possibility of him declaring.

So what's Dungee's record when it comes to drafting QBs? Who was the QB he drafted that turned out so great? Charlie Batch?
|
dungee inherited Manning, so now we have to treat him like an oracle...
|
You guys say you want a QB but youve been sucking Geno's schlong for so long I dont think you realize that there might be a possibilty he wont get drafted by the Chiefs.

No thanks. Time to get the highest rated guy. Have you seen the stats on SB winning QBs taken in the 1st vs everywhere else? |
In 13 years as a head coach, Tony Dungy has drafted 3 QBs:
2004 6th Jim Sorgi 2000 7th Joe Hamilton 1999 2nd Shaun King When it comes to drafting a QB, Tony Dungy should STFU. |

When you have Peyton Manning you dont really need to address that position in the draft.

If he declares he'll be a first round pick. I would rather have Geno or Tyler Wilson but if we draft him I won't be upset, he has the tools and the height thing is way over-rated... Either you can make the throws or you can't, and we've seen a lot of the latter |
Dungy reminds me of a little better Herm. And his opinion has slightly more weight than Nick Athan. None.

I think the biggest reason shorter QB's rarely succeed, and purely my opinion, is the prejudice against them. They're drafted low and even if they start they're given a short leash and basically expected to fail. The Drew Brees argument is obviously tired, but I don't know of a lot of other QB's who are under 6-2 that were given a legit opportunity to succeed. Wilson got a legit shot and he's done pretty well with it as a rookie. The sample size has been kept pretty small. I mean I don't think 5-9 linebackers are ideal, but if a guy can play, he can play. Not really about Murray though. I like Geno better. |
The guy has an arm and a great, quick release.

Just saw Palmer on Espn ... He says that statistically, Aaron Murray has been the most efficient QB in college football this year.
 i'm not pushing for Murray ... just repeating what i hear. |

I know he has a good history and can make most throws. I'm not saying he's Greg McElroy. I would have liked to see him flash more this season, that's all. |

Probably not worthy of the #1 pick but I would have him right behind Wilson. 1. Geno 2. Wilson 3. Murray 4. Nassib 5. Bray/ Barkley |
Quote:
Here's what Murray did against the two ranked teams they've played: @ South Carolina 11-31 (35.5%) 109yds 0 TD 1 INT 58.6 Rating vs. Florida 12-24 (50%) 150yds 1 TD 3 INT 91.3 Rating In all other games combined: 190-265 (71.7%) 29 TD 3 INT 202.1 Rating |

Bray is a project imo Barkley reminds me too much of Cassel. Maybe it's just the USC stuff that freaks me out. Dunno. don't know enough about Murray,Nassib or Glennon tbh |

I like Murray a lot and have talked about him this year from time to time. His upside isn't like Geno's, but his floor is higher.
He'd be a fantastic get in the second round, but this likely does very little good for the Chiefs. |
Quote:
Murray/Nassib intrigue me due to their pocket presence. I really like Nassib's release, movement within the pocket, and ability to look downfield. He struggles with touch and sometimes gets happy feet, but usually looks good for the most part. I haven't watched Glennon at all, so I can't speak to that guy other than BlackBob champions him. |
Quote:
Already owns most Syracuse passing records, eclipsing Donovan McNabb in most of them. I would have like to have seen him in the top of the third for the Chiefs, but I'm thinking that he'll end up moving up into the mid-second round at this point. Murray you want to like, but he just goes to complete shit under pressure. Chokes shit off like Rocco Siffredi. And he's short. Probably will measure under 6'0" officially. If the Chiefs get Geno in the first (pretty please!!!!), I'd really like to see them grab either Nassib or Lance Jones in the third/fourth. Jones, while he gets a lot of shit around here, has all the tools and is playing a lot better to end this season. Glennon forces his throws way too much. Big arm with decent mobility for a guy his size, but he's way too inaccurate when he has to make a throw downfield and there's any defender within five yards. |
Not a **** is given about Dungy's takes on offense.

Dungy said Murray's work ethic is like Peyton's. His HS coach said he has great feet and escapability. Had 60 TDs in 1st year as HS QB.
I'll bet right now his wunderlic score and dedication triples Geno's. |

Remember 4 years ago when Sanchez was the best QB to come out in a decade? Well, according to CP anyway. Or 3 years ago when it was Clausen who was worth a top 5 pick?
Don't get carried away with the hype over any one player. |

Also, people thought Jimmy Clausen was worth the top 5 pick because we had a top 5 pick and Matt ****ing Cassel as our QB.
The need was there and people thought Clausen was worth the risk. |

A 91.3 QB rating in college is not good. This is evident when you look at his average rating over the other 10 games Georgia played - 202.1. |

The only reason most were high on Sanchez here was that the Chiefs had a real shot at drafting him. Stafford to Detroit was a foregone conclusion. |
If you are in a position to draft a QB and don't have one, then do it.
That's why people wanted Mark Sanchez. Did some of them try to convince themselves that he was better than he really was? Probably. But if the dude even looks like he can remotely play, he has to be considered. Especially if you look for QBs the way the Chiefs do. |
Maybe this was already mentioned, but Dungy knows Murray through his son's friendship with him (they were team mates in high school). Even Dan Patrick acknowledged after the interview with Dungy that his opinion on Murray was obviously biased.

It's almost as if the Chiefs can't have an Andrew Luck then fans want no part of the QB. Yet they're willing to give chances to garbage like Brodie Croyle and Matt Cassel. THAT'S the asinine part of that thread, not the reach on Mark Sanchez. |
