FDE is alive but the Scooby Van is dead

(this is the wife)...

Stevo was in an accident this morning and it wasn't his fault. He was in the middle lane and some bigwig in a dealer Tahoe decided he was in a big hurry to get on the highway, shot across to the middle lane from the onramp and clipped Stevo's van's front right corner with the back left end of his vehicle. The van spun around, flipped onto it's left side and slid and then landed back onto it's wheels. Stevo was holding onto his custom steering wheel (that I bought as an anniversary present many years back) so hard that he ripped it loose. He's okay (bruised and very sore) but his 1965 Chevy Van is totaled. FDE is very sad but very thankful that he's gonna be okay. I know you all are his friends and I'm not sure why I wanted to start this topic, but I wanted you all to know...

KC Kings 10-06-2004 10:50 AM

but did it mess up his hair?

BigRedChief 10-06-2004 10:51 AM

Tell him that we are glad he's okay and expect him to ready by the 24th. I'll give him a ride if he needs one...

Saulbadguy 10-06-2004 10:51 AM

Glad to hear he is OK. Send my best wishes from his favorite pinko commie liberal, Saulbadguy.

ptlyon 10-06-2004 10:52 AM

Glad to hear Steve is ok!

Get better man!

Sydd 10-06-2004 10:52 AM

Dang... glad he is ok.

shakesthecat 10-06-2004 10:54 AM

NOOOooooo! :cuss:

Glad Stevie's OK though.

Phobia 10-06-2004 10:54 AM

How in the hell are we supposed to be expected to believe this after the fake motorcycle accident 2.5 years ago?

seclark 10-06-2004 10:54 AM

i'm also glad stevie's ok. it's a bad deal about the van though. i suppose rain man had it pegged in the death pool thread.
sec

Rain Man 10-06-2004 10:54 AM

I'm glad to hear that he's okay. That'd be a scary wreck.

I'll bet this wasn't an accident, either. I'll bet that the Scooby Van was sabotaged by some guy who wanted to take control of an amusement park and was pretending to be a ghost.

Bob Dole 10-06-2004 10:57 AM

Damn.

You sure he's not First Down Super Dave?

Radar Chief 10-06-2004 10:57 AM

Wow! Glad Stevo’s alright though.

go bo 10-06-2004 10:59 AM

glad stevie wasn't seriously hurt...

tell him get well quick!

(sorry 'bout the van - it was a classic...)

After he recovers from his bruises, maybe you can start on a new costume for him.

It is my belief that Tackle Me Elmo would play well at Arrowhead.

Demonpenz 10-06-2004 11:00 AM

Elvis has NOT left the building

Lzen 10-06-2004 11:01 AM

Glad to hear Stevie's OK. Get well, bro.

Everything would have been fine if it weren't for those meddling kids.

Dang!... Coulda been one less vote for Bush. :hmmm: ...
Just kidding. ;) I'm glad he's OK.

ChiefJustice 10-06-2004 11:03 AM

Thank goodness that FDE is alive to fight another day!!

Does anyone else think that Jazzzlovr or Slayer might
have had something to do with this?

And he'd have gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for those meddling kids..

stevieray 10-06-2004 11:04 AM

Here's the funny part...

When he got into the trooper's car to follow the van off the highway, the trooper asked him,

"Anybody ever tell you that you look like Elvis?"

That is no lie...

We're home now but getting ready to go to where they towed the van to. There's paint spilled all in the inside (go figure) and we have to start clearing it out, pulling speakers/stereo, rims, etc. The accident was not his fault and the van was in very good condition so who knows what that means...I know it's not replaceable though. Stevo was moving pretty good when I picked him up but he's starting to get a little stiff and uncomfortable. Thanks for all the kind words.

Dammit. Too slow..

So was the other driver insured? Or did he even stop?

Phobia 10-06-2004 11:07 AM

Sure - EVERYBODY's a victim. Sack up, TackleMeElmo. The sun will come out tomorrow.

Glad to hear that you're OK, FDE. Don't pig out too much while you're laid-up. You could become CTE.

PastorMikH 10-06-2004 11:15 AM

As for the van, you might seek legal counsel on that. It is old enough to be considered an antique and with the shape it was in, it may actually have more value than what one would initially think.

I had a wreck back in 91. I was driving an old datsun pickup (it was 20 years old and in really good shape) and was rear ended. The lady's insurance company tried to total it and give me a few hundred bucks for it. I held off and argued with them. I ended up keeping the truck, fixing it, and putting more cash in my pocket afterwards than they initially offered.

BTW, I'll second Phobia's motion for an First Down Elmo suit.

Bob Dole 10-06-2004 11:16 AM

(Bob Dole is patiently awaiting the Tackle Me Elmo Photoshop job...)

Kylo Ren 10-06-2004 11:16 AM

I know you said he is "OK", but does he have any injuries, bumps or bruises?

After hearing that his van spun around, flipped on its side, then rolled back upright and onto its wheels, I must ask if he will be changing his name to First Down Evil Kenievel? (sp?) Then, he'd be FDEK.

I've been sitting here in the office for the last hour doing nothing but watching the history channel and cruising the planet so, yeah, I should have caught it like 18 minutes sooner.

Iowanian 10-06-2004 11:18 AM

I'm glad Steve's alright........Send the Iowanian clan's best wishes for a speedy recovery. Tell him to be sure and have his neck checked out in a couple of days if it is bothering him at all. The biggest mistake he can make is being too "tough".

Good thing he had the FDE hairspray helmet on, or there may have been some drain bamage.

That's actually funny. Shockingly funny. I'll throw you some rep, I guess.

Bwana 10-06-2004 11:20 AM

Ouch! I'm glad he came out of it fairly well. :hmmm: As a bonus, it's the bye week so no chance of him jumping up and down after a bad call. :) He won't have to "Elvis up" until Oct 24th. By that point in time, he should be off IR and ready for game day.:thumb:

Iowanian 10-06-2004 11:25 AM

FDE...........relax my man...........you've got the bye week to recover.

Give a jingle if you need any FDE Security we discussed. I'd look cool in a cape.

milkman 10-06-2004 11:26 AM

Is FDE stevieray?

Doesn't make any difference.
Whoever he is, I'm glad to hear that he's ok.

ROYC75 10-06-2004 11:29 AM

Megbert 10-06-2004 11:31 AM

Well good to know FDE is all right. Everytime I see him on the TV its like Cheers but instead of "NORM!" we yell "First Down Elvis!" or "ELVIS!"

I am so bummed about this news. I really enjoyed riding in the Scooby-mobile. I am very happy you are ok, Steve. Just get yourself better & don't worry too much about a vehicle. All it is is metal, it can be replaced. I will give you a call when I get a chance, in San Jose at the moment.

Screw that, get a big gas guzzl’n SUV that never leaves the pavement. It’s the American way.

I fact, FDE, if your interested I’ve got a friend that’s selling his Suburban due to divorce. It’s an older one but its 4X4 and in good shape.
Let me know if interested and I’ll find out the specifics.
