What was the deal with the secondary today?

I was out wandering in southwest Kansas and southeast Colorado this morning, and couldn't find a way to see the first half. I got lucky and found a sports bar right at halftime, and got to see the whole second half.

I couldn't help but notice that our starters were Warfield, McCleon, Pile, and Harts. I know that Woods was hurt, but what was the deal with McCleon and Pile. I saw Bartee out there at times, but I never saw Wesley all day.

Did anything else of interest happen in the first half?

Rausch 11-28-2004 10:10 PM

Wesley was injured in pregame warmups...seriously.

Rain Man 11-28-2004 10:14 PM

I was envisioning a Gunther mass-benching. I guess it didn't happen, eh?

FloridaChief 11-28-2004 10:15 PM

Did McCleon win back the starting CB position from Bartee?

Rain Man 11-28-2004 10:23 PM

I dunno. It looked like McCleon was starting in the second half, but I could be wrong.

I thought he started today. I could be wrong, not seeing the game. In any event, I saw on ESPN that Sexy Dexy had a nice hit on one of the Chargers receivers...

The trainers noticed a brain fart with Bartee in pre-game warmups but it was later determined to be a normal condition with him.

Pulled a hammy...

(Seriously, he was injured.)

HC_Chief 11-28-2004 10:33 PM

Pulled his hammy during warmups.

FWIW, I thought the safety play was much improved over the previous 10 games.

I didn't see the game, but Len and Mitch on 101 seemed to think so.

HC_Chief 11-28-2004 10:37 PM

Harts can TACKLE. He flat out stopped LT AND Gates on more than one occassion.

Pile did okay, but got beat a couple of times by Gates.

Overall, I thought the safety play was much better. (hard not to be... with Woods diving out of the way of receivers and Wesley missing tackles; attempting to make a highlight reel hit)

Rausch 11-28-2004 10:38 PM

Harts did get beat, but as a whole he didn't play too bad.

He's a helluva lot better tackler, and a helluva' lot more physical than anyone else we've seen there this year...

He also bit huge on the reverse that went for 40 yards as well...

They sucked a little less than normal?

Sure-Oz 11-28-2004 11:38 PM

The best play was McCleon laying the wood on Gates.

ROFL ROFL Yeah really. I don't see too many tackles back there. Are they pre-madonnas or football players?

Not if the DE's could at least stayed on their frigging lanes instead of crashing inside. Even a bootleg could spring a 40 yard gain out of that one.

Do you think if he had played as much as Woods or Wesley, that he would have been beat? I think it's about time {long overdue} to replace Wesley and Woods until they bring make laying the Wood{no pun intended}
