anybody do Best Buy Reward Zone?

since Christmas shopping time is here, just thinking about signing up. It sounds like it would be worth it if you spend about $150 per year at BB, which I definately do.

So would anybody recommend it? or not?

Saulbadguy 11-29-2004 06:38 PM

Its a fucking rip off. I used to, but then they raised the amount of money you had to spend to get points. Its a pain in the ass. I guess if you spend alot of money there it would be worth it, but i'd rather not spend alot of money there.

Jenson71 11-29-2004 06:38 PM

Yeah, it's good if you buy that much crap. Cause then you get money in the mail and then you can buy more crap.

Saulbadguy 11-29-2004 06:39 PM

You get these little $5 gift certificates, which are stackable, but expire quickly.

I've had it for about a year & last week I went in to buy a game for a gift and they gave me a $10 gift card. It coupled with the certificates has been worth it IMO.

I will never again shop at Best Buy for as long as I live. I purchased one of their service agreements for my Treo. It's a $300+ smart phone. They sold me on the agreement saying that if there was any problem witht he phone, they'd express exchange it right there at the store...

So two weeks ago, my phone craps out on me. When I go to the store, they said they stopped that program a month ago. I said, well, I purchased the agreement back in March, so I should be grandfathered in. They said no dice. I raised my voice with the manager and got escorted out.

Screw Best Buy. Bait and switch bastards.

And you let it go at that? I'd have taken $300 out of the manager's ass.

He probably threatened the manager with a "I'm going to leave and never come back!", only to return a week later to buy an Avril Lavigne CD. The manager knew what was up.

I'm telling the condensed version. I made a scene from the customer service desk all the way to my car in the parking lot, yelling "Don't buy the service agreements! They don't honor them like they say they do! You'll get screwed if you buy the service agreements and need to use them!"

Everyone in the immediate vicinity turned their head and watched as I was escorted out the store.

We signed up when we purchased our new computer. We immediately received $65.00 in credit (net gain $55.00) for which we applied to a new dryer that was on sale for $40.00 off so we saved a total of $105.00 and again used the rewards card which will get us more bonus points. It seems all of our old stuff is dying at the same time so it's been a good investment of $10.00 for us.

You should have thrown the escourt down and put some donkeyprison sex on em.

I hate best Buy.

The Rick 11-29-2004 07:20 PM

Scary thing about Best Buy. I have a friend who works part-time at their corporate headquarters in Minneapolis.

She told me that they have a way of searching their data warehouse to determine exactly how much you've spent there within a specified time period or even in your lifetime. Now, I'm assuming it can't track cash-only sales, but still.

I would take your service agreement and call the store manager. Tell him that if they intend to honor it you'll be calling the State AG. If that does'nt work go back and smear feces all over the windows.

Phobia 11-29-2004 07:21 PM

You still need a Treo, TJ? The wife is selling her 600. Been babied, looks brand new.

It's a damn good thing that I only buy my porn from back alley, shady establishments.

Heh... Actually the last 5 CDs I bought are A Perfect Circle, Xzibit, Eminem, My Chemical Romance, and Tool.

I'm not much for teeny bopper music...

Actually, I was able to get Sprint to exchange it for me. And I'm selling mine soon enough so that I can get the new 650...

Anybody in the market for a Treo at a decent price, Ebay is going to start getting flooded with 'em. I'll bet you can get some great prices on them...

How does she like hers?

Pizza Hut has a database system that tracks every phone order(its why they verify your home number)..it keeps track of your order, the days you order....each night it goes to a GIS database where they analyse it, and send you "customer specific" coupons etc.

Its spooky how much data some companies have on their customer base.........Rainman probably provides most of it from here.

She loved it but Sprint sucks in KC. We ditched the carrier.

Iowanian 11-29-2004 07:25 PM

You should definitely do it..............Robot parts and replacable Real-skin verginers could really ad up over the year for you.

If that's the case why does he keep sending me gang-bang catalogs instead of lipstick lesbo stuff? Why!?! :cuss:

Sorry, but Tool and A Perfect Circle are two of the most original and purchase-worthy bands of the last 10 years. Also the only 2 CD's I've paid for since I got an internet connection...

Maybe it's because your mom does the ordering instead of you.:D

Couldn't pass that one up.

If you're making a big one-time purchase at BB, then it's definitely worth it. I bought a big-screem Mitsubishi about six months ago and joined the reward zone so I got about $150 in gift certificates from that one purchase, so in essence it discounts the item you're buying slightly.

For that amount? No. It takes $150 to get $5. It costs $10 a year. Therefore, if you spent $150 a year at bestbuy, you'd be out $5 a year. Now, if you purchase a high priced item, it would be worth it. I bought a laptop and got $60 back, so a net increase of $50 for me.
