Baby girl name opinions?

The wife and I are expecting our third child in the next week or so, but we're struggling to nail down the name. Any thoughts on the finalists?

Sydney Anne/Michelle
Kate Elizabeth
Megan Elizabeth

And please, don't tell me one of these reminds you of your favorite porn star/stripper so pick that one.

Dr. Johnny Fever 12-01-2004 11:49 AM

My wife and I almost went with Sydney for our daughter...went with Raven Paige instead.

Phobia 12-01-2004 11:52 AM

I like Sydney and Megan.

I think Sydney will probably be a really common name, though. When naming my girls, I tried to be original and always failed.

Mr. Kotter 12-01-2004 11:53 AM

Bertha Teradora....

has a nice "ring" to it. :hmmm:

KevB 12-01-2004 11:53 AM

Sydney is in the 20s or 30s of most popular names in 2003. We chose Emma for our first in 1999. Emma was in the 40s.....now it's in the top 5.

Coach 12-01-2004 11:53 AM

You can go Barbara Jo or Bobbi Jo

mlyonsd 12-01-2004 11:53 AM

Course, no one can really make a sound choice not knowing your last name.

Deberg_1990 12-01-2004 11:54 AM

Wow, my wife and I are expecting our 2nd child in about 3 or 4 weeks as well. My wife wants to go with Sydney! That name must be in vogue right now? We dont know what the sex is, so if its a boy my wife likes Payton.

With Sydney and Peyton.....you can't go wrong; I've had students of both sexes with those names. :hmmm:

Good point. Barge is the last name....a bit abrupt.

I like Sydney, but I don't like Barge.

Can you change it? :p

Megan was done to death a few years ago.
Kate -- a little plain for my taste.
I do like Sydney the best.

Everybody knows that any Chiefs fan newborn son should be named Priest, at least for right now.

Iowanian 12-01-2004 12:01 PM

I hate the "trendy Names" personally.

I prefer the "older" names......... Claire, Caroline, Madeline........just don't spell it stupid whatever you do.....we don't want little Orangejella to have a hard time at Kindergarden.

Yeah - I've liked Payton for a long time, prior to Manning hitting the scene. I also like Paxton for a boy.

We're the same. Our first girl is Emma Claire. That's probably why we're somewhat drawn to Kate. A little plain, but a classic that will never "go out of style". And no unique spellings either....not a fan.

Lzen 12-01-2004 12:08 PM

How about Marge? :D

I'm a fan of unique spellings.

I thynk you shood naym yowr dotter Kayt.

Iowanian 12-01-2004 12:10 PM

How about Elaine or something on those lines?

I'm sure you'll pick a fine name for a fine child.

I just wish more people would not be so "unique" and remember that the kid is stuck with that handle and will have to spell it in school.

With a last name like that it doesn't really matter what first name you pick. :)

I've always been a fan of "Sommer". Not as vain as naming your child directly after a season but still has nature/unique thing going for it.

There are a million Megans. I don't know any Sydney's.

When we were picking out baby names Sydney Shade was going to be the girls name. We had a boy. This was almost 10 years ago and didn't know any Sydneys then either.

Daughter's name is Summer and that was 19 years ago. Didn't know any Summers back then.

Guess I am the name starter!
