Eggnog

Does anyone really drink this stuff? Ughhhh.

I can't stand it.

Saulbadguy 12-06-2004 11:06 AM

I like it.

MichaelH 12-06-2004 11:07 AM

I'll have a glass or two Christmas morning.

NewChief 12-06-2004 11:08 AM

This time of year, I drink it pretty much nightly. Usually have two classes before bed. It's definitely an acquired taste.

ptlyon 12-06-2004 11:10 AM

Had several last night, with Captain Morgan mixed, of course.

Sans alcohol, of course.

The kind with the booze is 100X better. I wouldn't even bother with the non-alcoholic stuff.

Go to the liqour store. They should have at least 3 different premixed brands out there. You can just buy a bottle. Serve over ice. Yum. I can't remember the one I bought most recently, but I liked it. The Evan Williams brand is pretty good, too.

I've just drank the shit that comes in the milk carton. Seems like I might be missing out on something. I like the McDonalds/Steak and Shake Eggnog Shakes as well.

Pardon my eggnog ignorance. Eggnog really wasn't the drink of choice during Channukah.

Here's the brand I currently prefer. Took me a bit to find:

eggnog is delicious

CosmicPal 12-06-2004 11:23 AM

Wow...I'm surprised by the overwhelming acceptance of eggnog. I tried it years ago and thought it was disgusting. Of course, I'm not an eggman.

Maybe I'll have to give it another chance, but it better have a lot of cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg and particularly a LOT of alcohol.

alpha_omega 12-06-2004 11:24 AM

Nope, never!

David. 12-06-2004 11:24 AM

the alcoholeggnog is better, but regular eggnog is definitely sufficient.

ROYC75 12-06-2004 11:26 AM

Eggnog is good, as well as boiled custard..... :thumb:

Ultra Peanut 12-06-2004 11:42 AM

I like plain eggnog alot, I don't care much for Captain Morgan or rum to be in it. Few of my favorite things about Christmas is the chocolate covered cherries in the clear liquid and eggnog........yummy!!

I enjoy both non-alchoholic and alchoholic eggnog (with a definite preference towards the latter).

Here are some alchoholic eggnog recipes I have dug up on the net that sound good (to me anyway). I have not yet gotten around to trying them though so I cannot not offer any type of analysis.

Last year I went with Southern Comfort eggnog. The nog and the SC are sold seperately, they are not pre-mixed.

Well, ok. I don't buy peeps (I only eat them when given to me) so I am out of touch there.

Otter 12-06-2004 02:17 PM

I'm good for a 7oz glass or two. It's a long-time tradition at one of our regular Christmas Eve stops.

Gets kinda thick and sweet after more than 2 glasses though.

I don't eat them, but I buy them for my GF's dog. She (the dog) goes apeshit over them. She'll tear the package open and devour em.

My mom makes a tasty eggnog cheese cake. If she makes it for Christmas this year, I am going to have to make rum sauce to pour over it.
