Where in the world is Rainman San Diego?

Is this cool or what? My in-laws had us over for dinner last week as a belated birthday dinner for me. They then mentioned that they've acquired like a zillion frequent flyer miles and want to take a trip. They're taking my wife along, and I get to tag along, too, since someone needs to carry luggage and stuff.

They've given us the following locations to choose from. Where do we go? Where do we go?

(Background: my in-laws are in their 70s, but in very good shape. Even so, they're not into a whole lot of walking or anything, so we can't do a real high-impact trip. If we go international, I'll kind of be the point man, I figure.)

Rain Man 03-02-2005 04:43 PM

Can I do that if my in-laws are going to be nearby?

Maybe I need to start practicing my peripheral vision.

CosmicPal 03-02-2005 04:43 PM

Never travel with your in-laws anywhere. It's a course ripe with disaster!

Rain Man 03-02-2005 04:44 PM

I should note that neither of them is a ninja, as far as I know.

Saulbadguy 03-02-2005 04:44 PM

Berlin down to Belize...HAH!

Phobia 03-02-2005 04:44 PM

I have a hard enough time accompanying my in-laws down the street to the local Mexican restaurant. I certainly wouldn't wish to TRAVEL anywhere with them.

AustinChief 03-02-2005 04:45 PM

It depends on where you have been before and such... but Hawaii is nice all year round. Germany is horrible right now.. and France hates us. Oh and Italy or Switzerland??? bah!

Germany would be nice in the summer though.

On second thought - if you take them to Italy, you could have them disposed of.... capiche?

Ultra Peanut 03-02-2005 04:46 PM

POLAND

Get it? Poll-land?

AustinChief 03-02-2005 04:47 PM

oh.. and all of Europe requires alot of walking and smoking... and absinthe... I'm not sure they are up for all that.

(oh and I almost forgot the Russian hookers...)

On a serious note (God forbid), if you haven't been to Hawaii, go there. It's literally paradise on earth. Each island is different, however, so be sure to speak with those who have been there to make sure you hit the right islands. You'd think they're all the same, but they definitely are NOT.

Too bad they don't have a NASCAR race there.

Hey Rainman I voted for Italy but I hereby retract my vote as I don't need you getting more than 18 sites and passing me by.

It's times like this when I'm glad I've already got an mp3 of that song on my computer.

"The warrant
The warrant
The warrant
Oooooh the chief
Oooooohooooohooohooooooh the chief
Monday through Friday at five!"

I think the in-laws are most interested in France or Hawaii, and Hawaii is the only place out of their choices that they've visited before.

I've never been to Hawaii, Italy, or Switzerland out of their choices, and any of them would be nice. I've spent a grand total of one day in Germany, so essentially I've never been there, either. I've been to France a couple of times, but would easily go back, and I've never been to the Riviera.

I'd like to get them to Europe just because I think they'd like it, and Paris is a great place for them (easy to get around, and lots of stuff that they like). I'm leaning toward suggesting France, even though Italy would probably be my selfish top choice.

Does the Riviera have topless beaches?

My wife loves that show. Yet she derides me when I watch Cops. Women are such a mystery.
