Who ran Cochise off?
One of our regulars asked me to find Cochise earlier today.
Unfortunately, it looks like he took Mr. Blonde one step further. He's gone, didn't say goodbye, and given the modifications he made to his profile - doesn't want to be found. If you're reading, Cochise - you've been missed and you're an important member of this site. But, we respect your privacy. We just want to know who to blame. Heh heh. |
It was me.

COME BACK YOU IGNORANT B@STARD!!! :cuss:

Ya, I miss the dude.

So when's the last time he posted?
|
From what I've just been told, Cochise is the one to blame. Blame him.
The LOA is self imposed and it has to do with work productivity. |

Beavis, for you.... Damn, and I thought we had a stool pidgeon. ;)[/QUOTE] Main Entry: stool pigeon Function: noun Etymology: probably from the early practice of fastening the decoy bird to a stool 1 : a pigeon used as a decoy to draw others within a net 2 : a person acting as a decoy or informer; especially : a spy sent into a group to report (as to the police) on its activities pidgeon The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary. :p |

Duhnese finally convinced him he was wrong, so he decided to take up arms in "the cause". For all I know, he's in the mountains of Pakistan by now.

I've been doing some research, and it appears that the Cavalry chased Cochise off. It took a while, though.
"Cochise, chief of the central Chiricahua in southeastern Arizona, was one of the most famous APACHE leaders to resist intrusions by whites into the southwestern United States during the 19th century. Not hostile to the whites at first, he kept peace with the Anglo-Americans until 1861, when he became their implacable foe because of the blunder of a young U.S. Army officer, Lt. George Bascom. In that year, Cochise and several of his relatives had gone to an encampment of soldiers in order to deny the accusation that they had abducted a child from a ranch. The boy was later proved to have been kidnapped by another band of Apaches. During the parley Cochise and his fellows were ordered held as hostages by Bascom, but Cochise managed to escape almost immediately by cutting a hole in a tent. Bascom later ordered the other Apache hostages hanged, and the embittered Cochise joined forces with MANGAS COLORADAS, the leader of another Chiricahua band. For ten years Cochise and his warriors harassed the whites by raiding lonely ranches and attacking stagecoaches and miners. They did not surrender to the troops until 1871. Cochise died on the new Chiricahua reservation in 1874 and was succeeded as chief by his son, Taza." http://www.gbso.net/SKYHAWK/cochise.htm |

Yes, meme finally convinced me that she was right so I joined the mujahideen.
Hah, kidding. But I didn't really think anyone would notice that I was gone. Basically, it was a variety of things including a lot more responsibility being slid my way at work and it was still the offseason, so there wasn't much to read but the DC forum which had basically devolved into being like the beginning of 2001... for the most part. Another part of it was that frequently (due to the D.C. forum mostly) I was being a person I didn't like when I came to the planet. I tended to judge people's motives, to be rude when it was not really called for, and just generally to let people I didn't like get to me. I didn't like the CP Cochise, and wanted to try to be a better person. I don't remember what finally it was that caused me to do it, but I button mashed my password and email address so I couldn't log in anymore, and forced a hiatus on myself. I've still been poking around here some, pretty much the best place I know for Chiefs news. But I think some time off was warranted and probably beneficial to all. Oh and that first preseason game. :shake: And damnit c4me, go away and quit wrecking my thread. |

None of them are "upset." It's more like, I'm gonna have less time beginning in the next week or so. Why waste my time on what, sadly, has become a cess pool of ideological extremism? If I want that, there are better and more moderate and civil "political" sites to go to hang out on. FTR, I'll pop-in to lurk and to occaisionally post. I'm just deciding to spend more of my time surfing, elsewhere.....probably just more over here. So, you aren't rid of me entirely, Terroristisme. Sorry. ;) |

Dude - you're not the only one who feels that way. So much so that I recently created a special group which makes D.C. disappear from the board. If you'd like to be reinstated, I can drop you into that group. |

I've analyzed this thread and come to the conclusion that segregating political/religious topics from the main forum into the DC forum is the root cause of Cochise's demise. How many more high quality posters do we need to lose to this tragic decision? [/only partially TIC]
See you around, Cochise. I always thought you were a great poster because of your combination of intelligent commentary and sharp wit (and your support of MU). I completely understand your reasons for taking a hiatus though. I hope you eventually come back at a pace that's comfortable to you. |
