Will 9-11 help the Jets this Sunday?
Its a pretty emotional day for New Yorkers... Think it will be extra motivation for them? This is the first Sunday to fall on 9-11...
This will be the first 9-11 that I won't feel sorry for them... well just Jet fans. Im still saddened by the whole 9-11 deal... but that isnt gonna mean shit come kickoff. |
I guess it might depend on how much the stadium does pregame in regards to 9/11.
I remember the Giants game after 9/11/01, where the pregame ceremony seemed to really subdue the fans. I don't see it having that effect this year though. Personally, I think the players play just as hard regardless of the sentimental issues. |
Or will it affect how the refs call the game?
Hey, just a thought. Something to ponder. |
I wondered when/ how the Media was going to 9/11 this.
Next thing they'll want everyone to roll over for Jets/Giants since we all love NYC. (NOT) |
I don't think it will affect the game at all.
9/11 is ALREADY part of the US nostalgia. Until it happens again, people are too embroiled in their personal lives to REALLY care. |
No.
|
Too be honest, I dont think it matters. Like really, football is football, and the best team is going to win anyway.
|
After Sunday the Jets will remember 9 11 as the day they got their azzes kicked at Arrowhead. Leave the politics out of football. I am there to watch the game not get bummed out about 911 or the hurrican, give it a break all ready.
|
I think the hurricane stuff will overshadow it a bit right now, since it is fresh in the minds of Americans.
|
in 2001 I stood up and cheered for the Giants as they made their way onto the field.
That was the first and only time I'd ever did that. This year the NY Jets are going to feel right at home because they are going to be getting a big bronx cheer from me. |
I just read that 9/11 is questionable for the game because of a bad hamstring.

I think its just plain wrong for you guys to even begin to link 9/11 to football. I have lost neighbors and family members and to this day, everytime I see 9/11 footage i ball. Football is a game, 9/11 affected millions of New Yorkers and Americans because it was the greatest tradgedy in this great nations history. I'm sorry if you midwestern guys dont understand, but 9/11 is not even close to a giggleing matter up here. The game sunday will be played on the grass at arrowhead and everything else will be out the door. No, 9/11 will not "pump" the jets up or have them play with any extra emotion. But shame on all of you for making it into a mockery. Shame on you. |

I understand, and talking about 9/11 is not a problem to me at all. But when you have guys saying "I heard 9/11 is questionable because of a bad hamstring", I just think thats ediotic, uncalled for and insenseitive. |

Weird topic... and some really awkward replies.
|
I think it will only help them if the final score is 11-9 Jets.

I just hope the media centers in the USA (NY) being one of them tries it. Yeah it's was bad and effected everyone in America. I'm not giggling about it. Your network guys tried it after 9/11/01, to push their teams as local games here whenever possible. Our games would get bumped for viewing. According to our local network affilates, 'orders from NY'. I'm not mocking it. Just reminding how the 'TV network' tried to make everyone like their teams just because they were from NY. I think that network stunt had the opposite effect to the rest of us in 'fly over' America. BTW.Cmart28 Lets hope the Chiefs just Kick the Jets a$$ on 9/11. |
Football is football for 3 hours on Sunday we can forget about the Hurricane and 9/11.
|
Even if it does motivate them... we will still kick some serious ass this sunday and pull of a win.
I can't believe it has been 4 years already :( |

I'll be at the game.
I'm glad/hope football remains that. |
no.

I can respect that New Yorkers are still sensitive about this.
I think it's safe to say that not a single member of this board thinks the events of 9/11/01 are funny. You can be offended by a lot of things if you try hard enough. |
THIS TIME ON 9/11 ITS THE JETS CRASHING INTO ARROWHEAD.

you must be one of the resident asswipes. how can you write a joke about jets crashing on 9/11 and be proud of yourself at all? you're a damned fool. |
Nolimit you suck because you are making me agree with neckdemon- that was a very horrible post. What is next screw the hurican victims over if we can make the playoffs.
Sorry New Yorkers he doesn't speak for all of us. Maybe if this numbnut was there on the last day they took down the steel cross like I was. Maybe if he saw the line of victims clothes found in the rubble and posted with their pictures. Maybe if he saw the number of firefighters names spray painted on the wall that never came home. Maybe if he witnessed the people standing in the rain crying as they took the cross down. The kids that were there that will never see their mother or father or both again. Probably would't matter anyway. Hey good luck on Sunday guys, football doesnt even matter in the big picture. |

Just an FYI... 9/11 happened to America... not New York.

i'm done. i just think it's a shame that you have posters on this site who have such little class, and are such scum bags that they can make fun of a 3 year old boy who died crashing into the world trade center. and you know what funnier. you are telling ME to give it a rest. you should be telling these total pieces of shit to shut their mouths instead. |

Where are they making fun of a little boy? Most of us on this board are parents....show me where they made fun of the little one......:hmmm: |

I'm just giving you a bit of freindly advice. They are throwing out bait, and you keep biting hook, line, and sinker. If it's so offensive and unbearable, you can always go back to the freindly confines of a Jets board and have a circle jerk with all your fellow homers. |
I was actually making fun of his adopted gay parents. The asian one, specifically.

this has nothing to do with football. if you don't get it by now then iguess you never will. at least at our "homerville" we wouldn't let a thread like this or the one about the jets crashing continue to go on with people posting such tasteless stuff. i guess thats what makes our site great. |
I'M FROM NEW JERSEY and I'm proud about it, I love the Garden State.
I'M FROM NEW JERSEY and I want to shout it, I think it's simply great. All of the other states throughout the nation may mean a lot to some; But I wouldn't want another, Jersey is like no other, I'm glad that's where I'm from!!! |

I'm personally embarassed for the BB by the crap on this thread. This nopitlick fucker needs to be IP banned (assuming he hasn't been already). Enough is enough.

i'm not offended. i just find it amazing that....1- posts like that are allowed to stay on a site like this. but then again i guess i'm just used to the professionalism of our site.....2- that people are actually so stupid that they would make fun of something like that. but hey, if your born stupid i guess you have to play the hand you're dealt. |
