Gotta share this!!

my youngest boy is 12 years old and playing Junior league football this year for the first time. He played his third game of the season today. His position is left cornerback and weighs about 85 pounds with his equipment on. Little guy ya know. Today they were getting ripped by this team around the outside the whole game and finally they let my boy play in the second half. The opposing team ran a reverse around the outside and my boy flat out leveled their 1st string RB and the blocker in front of him, it was AWESOME!!!! Not just a tackle but a lift and flip tackle. TOTALLY WICKED!!!!
Tomorrow they play the Monroe Panthers at Qwest Stadium in the pregame of the Seahawks game when they take on the Cardinals. Although I detest the Seahawks from years gone by, I am amped for the little guys. GO CRUISERS!!!!

Jenson71 09-24-2005 04:50 PM

A little guy can have a big toughness about him. Nasty gentleman.

What time does the pre-game show start?

sd4chiefs 09-24-2005 05:00 PM

When my son was about that age he played defensive end. In the last game of the year, near the end of the game he came in and leveled the QB. The QB fumbled the ball and he picked it up and came 5 yards from getting into the end Zone. The best part was that the QB was still on the ground and they asked if there was a Doctor in the stands. That was a proud moment. The kid got up after about 10 minutes and walked off the field. I don't even remember if they won the game.

picasso 09-24-2005 08:00 PM

Pregame starts at 11:15. They are taking part in the National Anthem along side the Seahawks on the field as well. It will be great!! That is one other thing to add to the story, The RB didn't get up for about 5 minutes. He hurt his arm in the destruction my son layed upon him.
Of course your enthusiasm for a your kids great hit needs to be subdued when the other kid is flat on his back ballin' his head off but it couldn't erase the smile from my face. Sorry couldn't do it, I tried.

teedubya 09-24-2005 08:01 PM

my kid could kick your kids ass.

You're part of the problem.

Congratulations...PBJ just think, it only gets better as they get older....my son and his team took Sherman to OT last night after they were down by 12 pts and we won....:thumb: I can't even describe the feeling and rush I get when my son takes the field or has the ball.....:D

The problem of overzealous parents in peewee football. You're trying to live your life vicariously through your small child.

Nope. Just glad to see my son learn on the field in a team environment what it takes to listen, react and make decisions, know the value of comrodary(sp), and having fun. If he makes a great play I do feel like "That's my boy!!!" And when he is on stage in a play at school and he has a lot of lines to remember at pulls it off perfectly I still think "That's my boy!!
Not overzealous, he's the third string CB and has practiced the least because he signed up five weeks after everyone else. I'm just proud of him and his accomplishments. Not mine.

I'm pretty impressed with your ability to judge what type of parent he is simply by reading two paragraphs on a BB.

I didn't pick up on that. If that's the case, I'm not that impressed after all.

picasso 09-24-2005 08:38 PM

Thing is since he signed up late he and another player aren't even dressing out because the NFL rules on the field only allows 30 players to dress for the game. I'm going there to support him and his team. And yeah I'm a loud guy on the sidelines but not because I wish I was out there but because I am a fan and the father of a player. What's cool is I have $300 clubhouse seats, a free parking pass and looking forward also to seeing Kurt Warner get sacked 10 times tomorrow. Plus seeing the Seahawks lose it in the fourth quarter, again.

How did you get involved in this discussion? Just your natural tendency to run your big mouth? FYI, ask Bwana as he had a similar situaton with a fight over a peewee game. This dude is very proud of his 8 year old for coldcocking another 8 year old. He just couldn't quit smiling. You folks make me sick.

According to Bwana. He had a guy want to fight him over a peewee game. This guy seems to be as serious about 8 year old football

This guy is a proud father. He's proud because his son laid a lick on the ballcarrier. This is about a football game, not overzealous parents and coaches. I surprised you can't see a difference.

Picking an an 80 yr old blind guy. You're a class act........

Skip, don't you dare turn into an old ninny on this board.

BigRedChief 09-24-2005 11:35 PM

I'm from Lee's Summit and we are always getting our ass kicked by Blue Springs. We are down by 3 and my son throws a block on one of their big ass DE's and seals the hole and the RB hits it at full speed. 67 yards later we got a win.

Couldn't help but stick out the chest myself. Pretty cool to see your son excel at something. Recommend it to everyone.

Chiefaholic 09-24-2005 11:36 PM

I wasn't fortunate enough to have a boy. But overlook Skips ignorance and take pride in your son. I have two daughters who are very good at basketball, and YES I'm just as proud when one of them make a fastbreak for the basket, or make the perfect pass to set somebody else up for one.

LS kids always liked spitting on me when we played. Although I had a good number of kids who went to Lee's Summit and there were a lot of good folks there. Lee's Summit North however...

It's a new era over here bub. LS West is #2 in the state right now. They went to the State regionals with no seniors in their first year of exsistence as a high school last year. They got a hot shot coach and the players aren't moving to Blue Springs anymore. They had 2 kids quit going to Rockhurst and stay in district to play for the new coach. Might be time for a little pay back.:)

Could be, BS is having a down year. I have heard they have great lineman but are lacking in skill players. Not a bad team but not really BS type qaulity. BS South was supposed to be the team to beat this year but they still don't know what it is like to wear the big boys pants in the state and got dismantled by Rockhurst.

LS historically has always had amazing athletes but...they always seemed like athletes that happened to be wearing football gear. Not enough "football players."

All the kids I know that "moved" here and there to play ball always got bit in the end. I know my senior year when we won the state title the team was mostly made up of kids I played little league ball with. I remember when I was in middle school the big thing to do was move to Blue Springs South but when it came to be thier time kids that could have been wearing purple and gold at the dome were wearing blue at home.

I would be suprised if anyone took Rockhurst. They seem to be the real deal this year.

Hopefully I can go back and catch a game at some point when I visit my family.

We make good roomies because we are not that interested in eachother. She is pretty attractive but...she is kind of a bitch as well. We dated some and I found myself not really wanting to listen to anything she had to say ever. She is way to much of a sorority chick. But she doesn't have much regard for what she wears around our place...so I do enjoy that.

Its been a good situation...some of her friends have become my friends. Which I like... :p

No way LS West is ready to play with Rockhurst in its 2nd year of exsistense. But the future is bright because people are not moving to Blue Springs like they have in the past. Now they are moving into West's district. But the West district doesn't have a lot of reasonable housing in it so we may not get some players.

I went Tueday and saw my son's team dismantle Brittany Hill. Isn't that the school that funnels into BS South?
